    Hi All,

Dont have too much time on the internet as telstra is mucking us round , so I cant respond to you all.

Hope you all had a great Christmas and will have an awesome new year.

Question - is anyone else having major problems settling their bubs during the day?? Jaida is pretty much refusing to go to sleep. At first she would just act up for me and DH came to the rescue and now she acts up for him to. When we have had enough we put her in the pram and try to rock her to sleep but she fights sleeping like you wouldn't believe. Jaida is definitely a much nicer bub when she has had 3 sleeps during the day. I would also much rather her sleep in her bed too rather than her pram. Is anyone else having similar problems? Is this a phase?? The upside is she falls asleep instantly after her last feed at 7pm and sleeps through to 5-6am.

    Your thoughts are appreciated

    Hi Easha

I've just started having the same problem with my little one. As of the last two days he just doesn't want to sleep in the afternoons in particular. Mornings seem to be okay. Does anyone know how often a baby should sleep at 3 months? I had been trying to keep to the 1.5 to 2 hr up rule including feed but he just doesn't want to know it at the moment. Does display some of the tired signs which is why I try to put him down. Try re-offering breast but doesn't seem to want that either.

Anyone else out there have any hints clues for the two of us?

    Cheers Meadsie

Definitely a phase. Apparently the book "Wonder Weeks" actually tells you the phases the babies will go through. One of the girls in my previous baby group had a copy and it was spot on. I think I might try to get my hands on a copy in the coming weeks just to give me a heads up.
Rest assured though that Anelise has been through the same thing... she has also been real sooky lately and wanting loads of attention which can be hard with 3 other children in the house. Now when she starts, I carry her around in the HAB and get on with my day, or my DD1 has been fabulous with keeping her amused.

    Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback, good to know I am not alone. Jaida is a little whingy and clingy particularly in the afternoons. Will just have to go with the flow for now I think. The wonder weeks has a website just type it into google and they have an email service telling you about what to expect when there is a leap. The website had a little information however is really trying to get you to buy the book.

We have just moved interstate to QLD so will have to look at joining new groups up here. Hopefully we will fit into and existing group. I am also looking into swim classes as they start from 3 months up here.

Other than that Jaida's night time feed is still erratic sometimes 3am sometimes 4am sometimes 5am. Anyone else experiencing this? Would love her to stick with one time.... preferably 7am

    Hi girls,
I am having the exact same problem wit DD. She just does not want to go down in her cot during the day, although still goes down like a dream at night and sleeps through until usually 3.30am, although sometimes 4/4.30/5am. I also can't seem to get her to sleep past 5/5.30am, she wakes and won't re-settle, is just wide awake - I'd love any tips on how to get her to sleep a little later (even 6 or 6.30am would be heaven!!)

It's nice to hear that others are having the same issues with daytime sleeps - fingers crossed they will just get past it on their own!

DD is also terribly clingy at the moment as well - just wants cuddles all the time, will not go to anyone else (even Dad) without screaming, and most days will only put up with being on her mat or in her bouncer for about 5 mins at a time (sometimes not at all), she also has now decided that she hates being in her pram and is only happy when I put her in the carrier . This is becoming very draining..... Hopefully this is also just a phase and will pass , but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Angela

Can't help about the day sleeps as still working through on that one here will let you know if I find the magic solution.

Regarding waking at 5/5.30am mark what time does she have her last feed of the night?. I wake my little one at about 10/10.30pm for a feed and he mainly sleeps through to 7.00am. I did it to get another feed into him as he has been slow at gaining weight but upside is that he slept through for longer. Funnily enough if I give him that feed early say at 9.00pm he then wakes at much closer to 5am. The timeframes for being asleep are roughly the same. Might be worth while trying that out? My doctor and health workers have all recommended that I continue to do this.

HTH and let us know how you go

Anelise barely sleeps through the day, unless we've been for long-ish drives as she always sleeps in the car. I'm not too bothered by it right now as I have the older 2 kids home and they help out a lot (extra pocket money lol)
As for night time, Anelise has her last feed around 10pm and will sleep in until 9am. She is a little podge so I am not too worried about her not getting any feeds during that time and doesn't wake screaming for a feed... she just wakes and wants attention straight away. If Anelise does wake earlier (like 5am) I usually either re-wrap her or I put her in to bed with me and she is guaranteed to sleep through then! She loves being cuddled up to me.

    Hi all,

Jaida has slept through to 6am for the past 2 nights (5:50am to be exact) yayayayaya but this has created another little problem. This means with our current 3 hourly feed schedule she only gets in 5 a day not 6. Do you think our bubs are able to pull more milk at each feed to adapt to this or should I try to fit in the 6th. It would mean feeding 2 hourly throughout the afternoon which is fine but she still takes 40 mins to feed.

I also saw two tiny white dots on Jaida's lower gums yesterday and her cheeks are pinking up and she is dibbling more. Me thinks her little teeth are not far away from coming through.... nnnnooooooo I want her to stay a little baby for awhile longer.

    Hope your all doing well

Easha - As they're getting bigger, they're figuring out how to get as much as they need. If Jaida is sleeping through like that she must need sleep more than she needs to feed so to me that says she was very satisfied with her before bedtime feed (if that makes sense?)

Anelise has been dribbling and chewing on her fists like crazy... I too have wondered if this is her teeth about to make an appearance but I'm not counting on it... Poor little DS2 didn't get his first tooth until he was 16mths old! Anelise may end up being the same... no teeth ever stopped DS2 though, he used to gum down on lamb cutlets and anything that was put on his plate and scoff the lot.

    Long time no type everyone

I have been reading but just not had the time to respond... just wanted to say that your bubbas all sound like they are doing so well.

Easha - DD started sleeping 7+ hours a few weeks ago... I thought it might happen once or twice but she has been sleeping that amount quite consistently. I don't know if it will change (but am prepared if it does) but she feeds to sleep and then wakes around 7hrs later for a feed and it is a HUGE feed then she usually goes back to sleep for another hour or so.

    Welcome to bronwyn & blake!

    Big hellos to everyone else

Welcome Bronwyn & Blake. I look forward to getting to know you both better.

Anelise is having a bit of a sook at the moment as I have taken her out of the kiddy pool. She looooooooooooves the pool at the moment. I think it is brilliant as it means I can keep her cooler on these horrible hot days... and she looks too darn cute in her little swimmers!

Aww Lisa - DD is the same. We started swimming lessons when she was 3months old on Tuesdays... each and every time she gets out of the pool she screams blue murder (same with the bath usually).

I think she wants to be a mermaid LOL

    Hey,

Lisa loved the comment about the chops.... Jaida is already looking at what I am eating so she is going to love tasting food and am sure she will give everything a good go even the chops.

TK its nice having 7+ hours of sleep hey. I finally am getting 8 hours sleep myself which is lovely.

I will be calling about swim lessons tomorrow as Jaida is such a water baby

    Bronwyn and Blake - welcome

Easha - Anelise is the same when it comes to food. She actually mimics us eating and she winges the whole time we're eating. I keep telling her "Only 2 months to go until you can start tasting food!" lol

Easha - it is nice having the extra sleep... I can definietely tell the difference in myself when there is a day where I have had less sleep LOL

Lisa - I tell Caitlin the same thing but it is mainly infront of people who keep offering her food

Urgh TK, don't you HATE that? It really bugs me when your child is chewing on their hands and someone tells you that you're starving your baby by not giving it solids... blah blah started soilds at 3 months old because he/she was a big baby just like mine and needed the extra food. BAH! Whatever!! lol

Just a rant. I have copped it with all of my kids. I have been called a hippy for believing all the nonsense about starting them at 6 months. I was silly enough to listen with my first son and he has been the one I have had issues with... he has ADHD and I always wonder if starting him on soilds too early may have been a contributing factor? He was a fussy eater also... now he is vegetarian so I guess in a way he is still fussy lol
