Definitely a phase. Apparently the book "Wonder Weeks" actually tells you the phases the babies will go through. One of the girls in my previous baby group had a copy and it was spot on. I think I might try to get my hands on a copy in the coming weeks just to give me a heads up.
Rest assured though that Anelise has been through the same thing... she has also been real sooky lately and wanting loads of attention which can be hard with 3 other children in the house. Now when she starts, I carry her around in the HAB and get on with my day, or my DD1 has been fabulous with keeping her amused.
