How did you tell your partner "I think I'm in labour"

I am having some issues...... last night I didnt tell DP I was having some period pains and today I havent told him that I lost part of my plug (only a small amount but it was significant enough to scare me into realising this is really REAL IYKWIM).

So I figure this is a good time to ask:

How did you tell your partner you lost your plug/water broke/I'm in labour????

Hopefully a little more light heartedly how did they react?? I imagine that my DP is going to hit the roof and go a little crazy panicky LOL. I guess I will see soon.

Well I said "I think I lost my pug today" and DP said "so it could be any time in the next 3 weeks then"

2 days late when my waters broke (on my friend's couch) I sort of rolled off, stood up and said "Ummm CORY?... CORY?..CORY!!! I think something's happening" He said "oh" while everyone else ran around getting towels and doing things. It was pretty funny.

With DS i woke up having contractions and i timed them for half an hour after which i got up to go to the toilet and just as i stood up my water broke. DH was already awake luckly and i just said quick get me towel my water broke! He didnt panic at all. Maybe he was still sleepy? I dunno but he is usually really good with things like that. He always panics and worrys afterwards.

I woke up in the middle of the night and was having contractions, it was the night before i was due to go into the hospital for a c/section and i woke my DP and told him what was happening, this was our DS2 but i had an emergency c/section and was induced with number 1. My partner woke up and i felt like we where 2 little kids in a house not really sure of what to do!! i no that sounds strange but we where very excited, so this was midnight and as much as we lay there trying to go back to sleep it was imposible!!. In the end we got up and cleaned the house ( DS1 was at my mums) then we went out and watched the sun come up contractions we not really going anywhere, and we cleaned the car!! crazy the things that you do. Im sure when the time comes everything will be fine and he will be ok.
    Good luck with everything

LOL well I was sitting on the couch and got up thinking I needed to go to the toilet then *woosh* my waters broke! I stood up and said to dp "honey oh my god my water broke" he thought I was joking and just tipped water on myself, until I moved my hands and fluid went all over the tiles LOL

I think he could tell by the way I was pacing around, rubbing my belly and looking at the clock to see how long my contractions were lasting!

I woke up with contractions at about 2am, went to the toilet and had a show, kind of just let the whole thing sink in and after about an hour woke up my husband. He was pretty relaxed and we laid in bed till morning just feeling my contractions come and go. 22 hours later my son was born.
I think i lost my plug the week before and i can't remember if i told my husband. I think i did...

Good luck, it'll happen the way it's meant to happen

I'd just got into bed and it was really late, nearly midnight and DH was comatose. As soon as I got in bed, before I'd even lay down, I felt a warm gush - not heaps but I knew it was my water cos I'd never felt anything like that before lol.
I just froze sitting there - and I just said in a quiet little voice "I think my water broke".
DH literally shot out of his coma and sat bolt upright going "What? What!!??". He was wide awake in 2 seconds flat lol.

I started watching the clock, then after 3 ctnx said "hey it's all happening". So he went and cleaned the birdcage. I was sitting in the bath, with my sister timing contractions and he came and stuck his head in, smiled and went back to the stupid birds.
I'm pretty sure he thought it would be like in the movies or something....I warned him I go quickly.
When he finally realized I was serious (I was sitting in the car screaming for him to hurry), he complained because he wanted a shower first .

So the next time I came in and said (3weeks early) "I think this is it", he didn't leave my side....

We were out at dinner when I had to go to the loo. i came back with a frightful look on my face and said stuff is happening!!! My plug was coming out!!! I spent dinner rubbing my belly, dh just looking at me and my mother telling me I was going to have this baby soon!!!

When we got home I went to bed and said oh I better put a towel next to the bed just in case ( the carpets were laid the week before!). Five minutes later my waters broke and I said Oh Something's running down my bum crack!!lol I think he got the picture!!!

    Good luck

DP's a train driver and he started about 4am.

About an hour later I started having pains but they were pretty minor and far apart. So I actually called the hospital first and said, "what d'you reckon cos DP's about 3 hours away and I don't want to get him racing back if it's going to take all day."

He was very calm and came back later that day to take me to the ob appointment who said I was about 2cm dilated.

Anyhow, DP suggested that he go on a different roster which would mean he'd only be 20 minutes away.

Next morning my waters broke. So we went to the hospital but still not much happening. Ob said I could go home but to come back the following day. So I sent DP to work while I tried to chill.

By the next morning after having very little sleep for three nights and contractions all over the shop, I'd completely had enough so woke DP up at 4am and told him to take me to hospital because I was sick of sitting around (or rolling around to be more exact and shuffling around for wheat packs in between trying to time contractions) at home.

DD still took another 10 hours to arrive but she was posterior.

DP was VERY happy with the delivery room as it gave him an excellent view of the tram tracks and he even found time to pop out and take a few snaps! He's a freak.

Well, with my first he told me LOL!! I had tummy pains but insisted it was not labour. DH handed me the phone to ring the hossy while he packed my last minute toiletries. With me all the while saying, let's just wait, I'm sure this isn't it. He was right!

Second time it was "I'm just going to call my ob, there's something about these pains". Knowing I have quick labours he got our DS packed up while I rang my ob - DS2 arrived 2 1/2 hours later.

I'd planned a really nice day out, with lunch at my favourite winery restaurant, which I wasn't going to miss out on. So when I had really bad period pain in the morning, plus a bit of spotting, I didn't mention it. Just figured that an hour or so relaxing in the car would make it go away, plus I was convinced that I'd get to 41 weeks no probs, and at that stage I was 39w5d. So, got to lunch, still feeling pretty crook, but got through it. Then said we had to go to a chocolate shop that I'd wanted to get to for ages, so we did that, then I said we should drop in on my sister & BIL, to see them & my 6wo nephew. So we were there for an hour or so, and I still hadn't mentioned anything to DP. Still feeling pretty yuck, and despite being pretty sure that the pains coming every 5 minutes or so were possibly a clue, I pressed on, insisting that we drop in on my parents. DP still had no clue. Sat at M&D's whilst the 3 of them chatted & I silently timed the contractions. At about 6pm, I'd finally had enough, so resisted calls to stay to dinner & insisted I wanted to go home. My Dad then decided that he'd mention that one of the door locks in their house was broken, so DP & Dad sat down to fix it, at which point I had a bit of a melt down. Had a little weep to mum, kind of letting the cat out of the bag to her, which was good, cos then she discreetly told Dad to worry about the lock some other time. Finally got in the car with DP, about 8 hours after I'd first thought something was going on, and then told him. And yes, he freaked, especially as we had a 45 minute drive to get home, hadn't put my labour bags in the car (even though we'd discussed it), so 45 minutes home, plus then about 25to hospital. Although as it turned out, there was no rush. It was pretty funny in retrospect, but not sure that I'd do it again, would probably have a bit of a quiet day at home instead.

I lost a tiny bit of my plug and just casually mentioned it to DH - he looked really nervous and so we went home... then he made me sit on the couch and 'rest' which i couldnt do as i just wanted the place tidy (terrible case of nesting) then he cooked me an almighty dinner that probably brought n my labour, i was sooooo full!!!

Anyway 3am contractions woke me... i was vomiting at 4am and called the hossy as they were 3 mins apart. 5am walked into the bedroom, shook him gently awake and said, im pretty sure i am in labour, now go back to sleep i will wake you when i need you, i just needed to let you know... so he did.
An hour later i walked in the bedroom with a cup of tea and said 'you have to wake up now' i tried sitting next to him but the contactions were too strong, so i just paced.... i was totally packed and ready to go... so i informed him that he needed to shower and shave NOW as i didnt want him looking crap all day! LOL

It was weird telling him - i think i almost laughed, like it was a joke, dunno - it felt weird saying it.
I wrote him a letter a couple of weeks before hand, reminding him that i loved him, apologiseing in advance incase i was horrid and reinforning my wishes... it was great to kick him into the mood of 'we are having a baby'!!!

    Good luck

I was told that I would need to be induced 1 day after my due date due to High BP issues. So I was all geared up to not having the baby till then.

We were in the midst of finishing the kitchen reno (totally NOT my idea being heavily pregnant.) I had felt off colour all day, but thought it was because of the tradies tracking in and out etc. DH is a paramedic and was on night shift, so I sent him off saying that I would be fine. I just lay down on the couch to enjoy some ice cream, and I felt this warm feeling. Anyway up I jump and my waters had broken. They were a dark green colour, so the first thing I did was call the hospy, who told me that I would have to come straight in and not wait for DH, as I would need monitoring. So I called my Aunt who lived around the corner and arranged for her to come and get me. then I called DH. He actually made in to the hospital quicker than me, as he was still on duty and was in his ambulance in the area. Shows that you can drive fast when you are in an ambulance!!! My Aunt then gave him a lift home once I was all settled and he got changed and came back. 4 hours later we had our DS.

I love hearing these stories Some of them have made me laugh out loud! Hee hee!

The day my waters broke I had been to the hospital for my check-up with the MW's. I'd called DH to tell him that everything was going well and it was just a matter of time. Even though I'd had a few niggles the MW brushed it off as pg pains! A couple of hours after being home I was on the phone to my Nan and cruising BB and I felt like I had wet my pants. I quickly hung up from my Nan and ran to the loo and it was my waters leaking! I called the hospital and they said to put a pad on and to come in when I could to get checked out. I immediately called DH (who was at work) and I felt like a giggly little school girl telling him! He was SOO excited he couldn't get home from work quick enough to share in the excitement!
