    Sally, so pleased you like them. I had to hide them from my DH too... And the girls are right, the secret is the oats, brewers yeast and the flaxseed. They are all good for your supply.

    My sister used to eat porridge with flaxseed meal and brewers yeast daily to help with her supply.

    I was just thinking last night that I might start doing that too! Thanks

    It is especially hard having a premie (my sis had my niece at 34+4) and she struggled to breastfeed, for many reasons... I am so pleased for you that you have been able to make this work.

    Thanks I'm so determined this time because it didn't work out with Brendan (I expressed for 5.5 months for him, but my supply was just never really there)

    Oh, and dont forget that flaxseed meal is also know as linseed meal... And you can usually find it in the fridge section of the local health food shop.

    Now, by 'thick cut' oats, what does that mean? Can I just use 'traditional' rolled oats (ie not 'quick' oats?? Or are they some special kind of oats that I'd need to track down?

    I could only find rolled oats and they did the job for me

    Yup, agreed. 3 cookies and a couple of hours later, I've managed to completely saturate one breast pad (on my right side, it always makes sooo much milk, not sure why?!) and DD2 is sleeping soundly again after stuffing her face hahaha
    These are a treat! I'm going to whip up another batch and give them to DH's friend's missus, she's 2 days overdue now and even if she doesn't intend on BFing, they're pretty tasty... and if she is going to BF, she won't have any issues for those tricky first few days!!!

    I made a batch of these yesterday and instead of adding the full amount of choc chips I added 1/2 and the other 1/2 was mixed diced dried fruit. They are still really yummy and I dont feel quite so bad eating them

    They are awesome aren't they!! The recipe I use is ever so slightly different & adds in even more flaxseed. And as you can see at the bottom - only 2 points for weight watchers

    "LACTATION" COOKIES
    preheat oven to 350

    * 1 cup butter/margarine
    * 1 cup white sugar
    * 1 cup brown sugar
    * 2 large eggs
    * 1 t vanilla
    * 1 t salt
    * 1 t baking soda
    * 1 1/2 cups flour
    * 1/2 cup wholemeal flour
    * 2 T ground flax seed meal
    * 2 T flax seed
    * 4 T brewers yeast
    * 3 cups oats
    * 1 cup chocolate chips

    Cream the butter and sugars. Add eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla.

    Next mix the dry ingredients together EXCEPT the oats and chips, leave those out until the end. Add the dry ingredients into the wet ones a few spoonfuls at a time. Once it's all incorporated then mix in the oats and chips. If you'd like to add nuts, add them now. Drop by spoonfuls onto parchment lined cookie sheet.

    Bake in a 350 degree oven for approximately 12 minutes.

    WW POINTS value = 2 pts per cookie

    I've been adding whole flaxseed to mine too.

    I need more flour, so might pick up a bag of wholemeal flour as well.

    Another way to do these, is to cook them as a slice. Recipe stays the same, just push the mixture thinly(cookie thickness) into a tray and cook around 5-10mins longer depending on if you want soft or crunchy.
