I had a great experience with my c/s- same as a PP, "elective" due to bubs being breech.
I was nervous right up until she was out.
I couldn't feel anything and everyone is the room were so friendly talking to DH and I
DH took DD off to get weighed while I was being stitched up, then my MW bought her into recovery and helped me to breastfeed for the first time.
I did feel incredibly shaky that night due to the oxytocin- I asked for no more of that.
Had her at 4.37pm and up, showered and walking around by 9am the next day.
Felt a little tender for a few weeks, but other than that- I felt GREAT!
Only thing that i wish was done differently, is my scar is not as neat as some others I have seen.... But it still looks ok
Just wanted to add - as DD was coming out it was the most amazing thing, Dr says "we've got a leg... (she had to come out breech)... another leg.. we've got a bum... we know what it is (at this point I say to DH "it's definitely a boy then")" and then they held her up and DH's first reaction was "it's a baby... it's a girl!!" ha haha. Still gives me goosebumps just typing about it
