Good question! I got told that we could lodge the paperwork up to 3 months before due date, which I've already done. Is that 28 day thing apply to me when I submit the birth details as well?

Yes it does
Lodging a pre claim doesn't mean you jump the queue after the birth of bubs and get paid earlier. It only means that the claim can be checked and any additional info requested before baby arrives to prevent delays later down the track...
