I went to O'Connell family centre and they do not practice controlled crying in any form. They never make you leave your baby to cry. They want you to respond immediately to your baby and comfort and support them while they cry. Mainly patting and shushing but also picking up and cuddling and rocking to calm them. It is tiring - but not as tiring as I imagine standing outside the room listening to your baby cry. Staff were just fantastic.
