You're supposed to exercise 6 times a week. I only managed to do a proper work out (ie: not counting a 10 minute walk to or from work, etc) 1-3 times a week, and I still clocked off 20kg by sticking pretty well to the eating plan, so don't freak out or throw the idea out the window if the 6 times is not realistic.
The SSS is the plan of doing a full on death defying workout one day a week (most people do it on Saturday) where you crush 1,000 calories.
I found that a solid gym class (Body Pump, Body Combat, Body Attack, Boxing, etc - not Pilates, Body Balance, etc) and then 30 mins on the cross trainer or treadmill nailed that.
A friend who is smaller than me needed to do two classes to get the 1,000 done and dusted, so she'd do the solid class and then do a spin class.
A HRM is good, if you're going to use it. I got one as a special thing for Christmas, and haven't really used it, because I still haven't figured out how I'm a bit of a time poor technophobe and there's just never been a good hour to sit down and read the instructions properly ... I should probably do that ...
