Yep. Each round.
For those who've done this more than once, do have to pay the $199 each time you do a round?
Yep. Each round.
Ive done it- im signed up and not quite sure im ready to gobit late now!
Ive caught up on the pre- season tasks, just need to clean out the house tonight!
oh boy here goes nothing!
Aiming for 10kgs, not sure if thats realistic or not?
Welcome Crumpet!!
And yep, 10kg is a very realistic goal. Around a kilo a week is quite a healthy and maintainable rate of loss, so you should be able to keep yourself on track without too much pressure.
thanks LS - damn, means i'm going to have to sign up again if i want to lose my 20-25 kgs
Welcome shan & crumpet!!
Has anyone got a blog they want to share?
Not about this!! I'm doing a country a month this year (did a hobby a month last year and loved it!).
I have the fridge smarts, but still don't like the effect on pre preprepared stuff ... each to their own
Re the goals, a client started at around 96kg and lost 17kg last round, so don't be afraid to dream a little bigger - as long as the effort is proportionate to the goal
Gym again tonight ... accidentally did two days of weights in a row - I thought it was Monday, and that I'd gone to the park instead of the gym on the Sunday without remembering that yesterday was *Monday* and I did both.
Only cardio tomorrow !
Can't wait to be back at the gym next week. My PT is working out a training plan suited to obstacle courses (ie tough mudder) because he knows the 12wbt exercise plan, he is going to make my plan with him different to help me get to my goals.
This is going to make 3 days a week very long as I will have to go to the gym before work & uni.
So i want to start trying to figure out what different brands of things i need to buy for better choices food wise....
things like bread, milk etc...
is there somewhere i can look it up?
Also i have no idea about calorie counting so want to try and get a bit of a idea in the next 2 weeks before its all systems go, can someone recommend a way to get my head around it?
ive got the "my fitness pal" app to start with but its a bit daunting
The My Fitness Pal thing is awesome once you get into it. You can even just scan barcodes, and then say how much of the product you ate/drank/etc. I haven't got all jiggy with it yet (putting in meals or recipes or anything) but in terms of seeing how many calories things I eat and drink are, it's awesome.
With brands, I've gone with Abbotts and Helga's bread (it's lots of calories, but good quality). Michelle pimps Burger bread, but I'm not sure that the pros of it are over the ones I tend to eat ...
In terms of milk, I'm going to switch to a permeate free one, just so I'm getting all the calories I'm allocating to itIt's not a huge deal, because I don't drink much milk (just in my 2 coffees a day) but I might as well do it right, yanno?
Otherwise, brands are a bit redundant for me, as most of what I eat is fresh ... fruit, veg, meats, eggs, etc ...
My fitness pal throws you off a bit because it teaches you if you workout your allowed to eat those calories back which defeats the purpose of working them off
I ignore that part, and just look at what I've eaten, and then ignore it when it says, "eat a cheeseburger! you're 600 calories under your limit, and your body will go into starvation mode!!"
I look at it, and I say, "no! I will not eat a cheeseburger! Michelle Bridges will beat me into submission with a loaf of Burgen bread if I eat back my calories!!"
Me too. And then she'd call it a work out.
'Cause that's how she rolls.
Rolling is also a work out.
Eating rolls is not a workout.
I had an argument at work with a colleague, who was trying to tell me that celery has no calories.
I understand that celery takes more calories to digest than the 6 calories the average stick contains, but that's beside the point - that's just another version of eating your own calories, if you're going to count the "digesting" calories.
That's like me including the "walking" I do going to the photocopier, the coffee machine, the toilet and the water fountain sixteen times a day, and saying, "hey! that's collectively 15 minutes of exercise ... better jot that down, and subtract it from my hour of cardio tonight!" I mean come on. We burn calories just by being alive, whether we're sitting, standing or sleeping. We don't *count* them.
Celery has calories. Gah. Just not many. Its usefulness is more that if you want to nibble something, when you probably actually don't need food, celery or cucumber or ice is better than sugarfree lollies, or chips, or whatever.
Rant over.
There is a reason it suggests to eat them back, which is entirely logical. Basically, the notion is that you should never eat less than your BMR, which for most overweight people will be much higher than 1200 cal.
There is a great method for working out how many calories you should be eating that doesn't involve 'eating back' the calories you exercise, but allows you to eat a healthy amount of calories and still lose weight just as effectively.
There is a fantastic thread on the MFP website about it, if you are interested.
Anyway, it does make sense, it is just a different formula and method to a strict VLCD, which is what 12WBT essentially is.
Absolutely - it's just this woman. She says stuff like this all the time, because she heard something on the radio, or because she's extrapolated it from something else, and then passes it off as absolute truth, passes herself off as an expert, and gets very offended if anyone says anything to the contrary.
So here it was annoying because she wasn't just saying that it was a neutral food, but that I was incorrect in including it in my daily counter, because it doesn't have any calories ... That was the issue![]()
I agree with that just you get some people under the assumption that they can have that massive wedge of cake now because they are way under the calorie intake once exercise is subtracted
