amazing what the stress of a marriage breakdown will do for you ........
Sooo very true Schaz! When my XH & I broke up, I lost 11kg in about 8 weeks. Mainly because I had more time for myself to exercise instead of looking after him and I ate better instead of cooking the crap he wanted to eat!

Well, I'm still feeling sick with this stupid tonsillitis. Haven't felt like doing anything at all and DP has gone off to get some pizza for dinner...I know, bad bad bad already. How does everyone keep on track with eating and exercise while they are sick?

Well this is day 4 of my transformation and I am happy to say that I am doing well. Walk with DD in pram for at least 30 mins every day and 2 x weights workout so far, more tomorrow. I have stuck to my eating plan. 1575 calories per day and I am drinking more water, 1 and a half bottles a day, need to increase it by 1/2 a bottle. I have cut down on sugar dramatically, only 1 teaspoon a day, with my tea in the morning instead of 2 per cup of tea (2-3 a day), 2-3 teaspoons on my weetbix, etc etc...

I also had a kickstart on my transformation in the way of the flu over Christmas, I am sure it zapped a kilo or two off of me as I am never sick, it was a shock to my system.

All in all I am really happy with my motivation and willpower .

Well done ladies on your first day to a healthier you! and good luck for your second.

Deanne, sounds like me!! You sound so motivated! I too am really motivated this time. I am also on my 6th day of the health kick. Drinking lots of water has made me feel terrific too, I can't believe I don't get headaches anymore, I must have been really dehydrated. Well done with your walking, that is terrific, keep up the good work

Laranna - as lulu suggested, even when your well I think it is easier to prepare your meals. I find it easy to cut up a load of vegies for dinner in advance, then I just have to pull out a container and through it in the steamer, you can also add an egg or two (instead of boiling). Same goes for lunch, have meat ready, bread or rolls and salad pre-cut in containers as then you can chuck a roll together on the run. This was you only have to prepare 2-3 times a week. I am lucky enough to have DF cook the meat at dinner as I am hopeless with meat, burnt on the outside and raw on the inside .

As for exercise, I wouldn't worry to much when you are sick, although when I am sick I find it refreshing to go for a light walk. Just concentrate on the meals and worry about the exercise when you are better.

I hope you feel better soon.

    Thanks queenbee

yes i agree with deanne, i prepare my vegies through the day when my DD is asleep, does not take too long. i have my salad vegetables cut up in a container too. so when dinner time comes along, i just throw my vegies in the steamer or add some salad dressing if having a salad and just have to worry about the meat side of things.

    Well today I had -

Breaky - coffee (2 sugar, me bad), weetbix (1 tsp sugar, down from 2) and a banana.
    Mid morning - nothing (water)
Lunch - home made "subway" roll with 1 egg, lettuce and 1tbsl low fat mayo
Afternoon tea - half an apple
Dinner - Meat pie with broccoli, carrots, corn, 3 baked chips and managed to get fed 1/2 a fish finger by the kids...

I was absolutely ravenous by dinner. And was really craving for a sugar fix about 10 mins ago, so had a milky way.... darn but still better than yesterday!

Anyone got any ideas about how to get rid of the sugar cravings? I was doing fine until after dinner, when I was just plain hungry. Any ideas!!!! Please!!!

i had a slim right shake for brekky, then a chicken roll and 5 chips for lunch. A pikelet, a row of rice crackers and a little tin of tuna for afternoon tea, a cup of tea with 1 sugar and dinner a homemade vegetable pizza. I was so craving the golden gaytime ice cream my fil bought, but as im following (for the most part) weight watchers, it was going to "cost" far too many points. i now know my points are 22 for a day, so i coulda had it! Oh well, ill save some points tomorrow and maybe eat it then, or as a reward.

Div I am no expert on the sugar cravings and carbs thing but I think meat pies are really high in carbs (and usually fat ) so just after eating one you can have a sugar low and crave more.

Hope were are all feeling as motivated today as we were yesterday

I went back into CalorieKing today and added in my meal plan and my current weight... I am 2kg heavier than my last weigh in I want 2009 to be the year of the baby so I need to shift as much weight as possible to try and reverse the effects of my PCOS... this mornings BFN was a reminder that I am going to have to work at this and can't be doing things that will hinder my chances!

Today's affirmation: My body can do what it is supposed to - but I need to give it the best chance of returning to it's functions by holding up my end of the deal and shift weight!

Chromium supplements are supposed to help - maybe look into them?

Divvy - Some healthy suggestions. Leave a bunch of grapes on the bench so you can grab 1 or 2 when you have a sugar craving (not the whole bunch if possible) and maybe also with dinner a sweet potato, healthy and sweet and better for you then regular potato?

Rhianon, I too am on WW. Fill yourself up with grainy bread, lots of vegetables and protein. I have two slices of toast (no butter) in the morning and then around 10am I have an egg on toast! The protein is good because I'm filled up until about 1pm for lunch. Don't even feel like snacking in between. Water helps heaps! I have around 10 glasses a day. If I want an unhealthy snack, I'll have a glass of water and the craving only lasts a minute! I have saved 27.5 points this week and today is the end of Week 1 on WW so I have 47.5 to spend today (but I won't believe me)!! I am making home-made pizza tonight good luck on WW, it is awesome!

Divvy - you will find as you are cutting back on sugar that you will crave it. If you can work through it and get over the withdrawal you will feel so much better for it. Took me about 3 days last time I did it. I used to have a sugar free lolly to help get me though, downside of them is the artificial sweeteners that can have a laxative effect (been there), but they can be handy to get you through the hump.

or in this hot weather, try a zooper dooper! they are only 0.5 points on WW and gives you a nice fix!
