Can anyone tell me how bad alcohol is when you're watching calories????
Hate to break it to you, but it is BAD, lol!

The actual calories are not that bad, although the mixers are bad.

The problem is is that your body will always use the calories from alcohol first. So if you have had a big night, all of your energy needs are taken from the alcohol intake, and the calories that you have eaten in food go more or less straight to body fat as they are not burned off, as the body has plenty of alcohol to burn off first...........make sense?!

.....not to mention the fact that after you have had a few drinks you are more likely to lose your inhibitions and think "what the hell, a few more peanuts/chips/chocolates/kebabs won't hurt" LOL!!!

I'm falling off the wagon, went out and split wood, then came in and ate a packet of twisties, on top of the Mac Donalds brekky????p I feel really depressed at the moment. I just hope I can dust myslef off and start afresh tomorrow.

Oopsie - well I guess I can admit that I fell off the wagon for a night then!!

Last night ended up being quite random. I meant to only stay out for an hour for drinks but it turned into a 2am job! And because of the timing and me not going home for dinner, I didn't actually eat anything last night (and I only had a salad for lunch) so the alcohol went straight to my head. No peanuts/chips/kebabs in sight during my bender either!! I did dance HEAPS though.. so at least I can say I did some exercise last night!!

I'm feeling so sluggish and bleh today

Won't be doing it again in a hurry!!

Don't beat yourself up to much girls. We are still only in the second week and it can be so hard to change old habits. I had a bad night last night too, but I got up this morning determined to do better (despite having a bad day). I find that my slip ups are now further apart so I guess that's an improvement. We can do this!!!

Well I did great yesterday, and pretty good today until lunchtime... when I desperately tried to go past the Chocolate Box in Camberwell.. unsuccessfully...

But apart from that I'm congratulating myself for walking around the entire IKEA store in Richmond! Eeek!

And I'm going for a walk tonight too... so hopefully will be ok...

And I bought myself new bathers, looked in the mirror at the shop and thought, you know, this body ain't so bad, I'm actually pretty sexy, so just wait until I'm more healthy..... watch out men!

You, my lovely, are a goddamn goddess.

If you could bottle up your inate sense of self confidence and sell it, you'd be a squillionairre.

Talking of which, girls, How To Look Good Naked........a show which I adore and love and am addicted to.......I watch the UK one with Gok Wan, but the Aussie one on Channel 10 is really good too. Well worth a watch...you can watch it in full episodes on the internet....it'll make you realise how gorgeous we all are, tall or short, big or slim.........

After I have watched an episode I always make sure I do something for myself to remind myself of how gorgeous I am.......body lotion, plucking, sexy jammies, just SOMETHING, to nurture myself.......

A non-food reward. Usually at home. A bath with scented oils and candles. A shower with heels on (I got that one from Schaz, LOL!). Clean bed sheets and an oil burner. A face pack........a massage perhaps..........

Think about it, and post and let me know what you are going to do for YOURELF as a nurturing treat........

I'd buy a bottle.....I've always been in terribly short supply of it!

Have had a bad day. I had friends over for lunch and made lasagne. Not the best choice of food to cook....Then they brought a decadent chocy cake...yum! And I made banana and blueberry muffins whaich I have eaten 3 of today. So a write off of a day, but tomorrow is another day and I will get right back up on that horse!

mine's not really something i did for myself, but i bought a new dress for the wedding i went to yesterday. I had to leave the function room to go to the ladies, and this guy watched me walk past. He had this look as if to say, damn! She looks good! Which felt awesome! (normally ppl dont look at me at all!) tonight we went to dinner, and some other guy was watching me was past too! Maybe i walk more confident, or feel i look good. But it upped my confidence!
Ladies, don't think you're not hot stuff coz you've got some weight to lose, coz you are! And don't just think it, believe it!
My wagon is back tomorrow, it's going to be hard to get back on, but it'll be worth it in the end!

    Oh. My. God.

It was about 7.30pm last night and DH saw a McDonalds ad on the TV. Suddenly he was DYING for a chocolate Sunday. I caved and said "Yeah why not!" The catch was... we had to WALK to McDonalds to get said icecream. It didn't seem that far so I strapped on my pedometer and off we went.

8km's and 2 hours later we were home again!!!!!

It was a great walk and when we eventually got to McDonalds we felt so good about our walk that we didn't even want the icecream! We ended up getting a Nudie Juice instead.

I am absolutely exhausted today - I don't know how I will function but I am so proud of myself!!

I think I burned off that alcohol from Saturday night at least

Hey, girls using calorieking, is there someway that I can enter a recipe and have it calculate the calories for a portion?? I made banana and blueberry muffins and have no idea how to calculate the calorie content.

what you are going to do for YOURELF as a nurturing treat
I think I will have a nice, relaxing bath and then lather myself with a yummy body lotion.

Amy - awesome job on the walk! and doubly so for not getting the icecream. YAY

I had a pretty good day yesterday except I had too much softdrink (3 glasses!), but ate well otherwise and got on the Wii Fit for 36 minutes. It's going to be a lot cooler today so will get out for a walk later on today.

I've been going for walks, but have been really tired, I think I might be coming down with something as my ear feels blocked. I must admit that I have caved and had some soft drink (coke zero), but I'm not drinking as much as I normally would which I think is half my battle. I had a great moment on Friday DH brought home some doughnuts from DK for the boys and I really wanted one, it was on the plate and everything, but I thought no, I won't eat this otherwise I won't lose the weight I want so I put it back, I felt so good to be able to resist it.

    hugs xoxo

well this morning I had for breakfast

goose liver pate on toast - 2 slices
when I got to work I had a coffee (I'd run out of milk at home)

I'm going shopping at lunchtime for some new runners & a few books so will get something healthy when I'm out.

I also have to book in a few treats for myself, need a brazillian and an eyebrow wax. Also need a haircut - I found a few split ends and it needs a treatment after the last colour I put in - so I'm going to get a trim & a treatment.

    hi everyone
I have been so bad this week.. I dont even want to weigh in this week

Was just doing the grocery shopping and saw the WW magazine so I picked it up. Just had a browse through, and I think I might join up with their online tools. I was just looking around the recipe section of their website, and there is a recipe for tim tam sundaes... yum! They are 4 points, so I dont think its the sort of thing you would have every day, but you could save points and have it as a treat.

Off to drool over more WW recipes.....

I've been thinking the same as Amanda - it just doesn't seem worth eating junk!

I've realised this week how much work it actually takes to lose weight. Eating junk food just isn't worth the extra 30 minutes sweating in the sun to burn it off! I am loosly sticking to 1200 calories a day and I'm doing really well on it. The hardest part was overcoming the hunger.

I am a bit naughty though - I have subsituted one bad habit with another...
