Belfie - know that 'argh I font want to exercise' feeling so well lately. Going outside in the chill of the evening has been getting to me too. So glad you got out there and exercised though - excuses don't reap results is my mentality! So close to your goal now!!!

Hi Livvy, Sammie, tinsel, mildez, lilas and anyone else I've accidentally forgotten.

AFM - I hit the low 61's yesterday AND on Tuesday night instructed my first Body Attack class since having DD2 11 wks ago. I felt fit, I felt strong and I felt confident! Yep, this old chook still has it in her! Oh, and I managed to do up my size 8 jeans on Tuesday too. All on all it's been a great week for me fitness wise.

Now if I could get to the high 59's by the 19th of the month I will be ever so grateful! *crossing fingers*

Yes yes yes yes yes I SO want to get to my goal weight.

    Posted from my bike.

funny, posting from your bike!!!! well done you for doing it though!!!
    wish i had you motivation!

AFM. no loss this week, but no gain and the last few days have been a little off on the food front. yesterday marked two years since my lovely mother in law passed away, im still holding on to alot of anger about the whole thing and i ended up emotional eating...chocolate etc..anything i could get myhands on. but i feel stronger today and cooking up a bit pot of veg soup for when i get 'the hunger'!

think it will help to write out my goals like i was doing before....

    today :
    -2L of water
    -no unhealthy snacking
    -some sort of actvity
    -low salt
-be happy that i maitained rather than gained!

    good luck to everyone.

ugh! so jealous leesa lol! man oh man would i love to able to do up a pair of 14 jeans! my 16s are feeling loose but not that loose am pretty sure lol! you must be a petite wee thing... have never been a size 8 in anything below the waist except when i had my wisdom teeth out and couldn't eat anything for two weeks... if i go under 60 i just look emaciated... but man would the low 60s be nice! well just hoping that when period is over and can allow self back on the scales (have been worried it would mess with the weight and make me sad lol) hopefully will not be above 80 and really really hoping will be below... sigh.

have only walked for about 1 and a bit kms today so not very far at all. will do some pilates later instead as has started raining and is meant to for the rest of the day apparently (so much for a gorgeous sunny morning!).

    have a lovely day everyone!

well done beckoes! hope you're feeling okay today... and maintained rather than gained is great - well done you!

Livvy - throughout my entire childhood / teenage years and adulthood I had always been on the chubby side. At the end of my 2nd pregnancy I was 92kgs (previously my weight had probably been around 65 - 67 kgs - I'm 162cms by the way). I felt yucky and hated my reflection. So in late September 2009 I started exercising vigorously daily and counting my calories. By early March 2010 I weight 59kgs - the lightest I had ever been in adulthood. Then by mid April I weighed 55kgs and maintained that until I became pregnant with my 3rd baby. So I know that it IS possible to totally change the shape of your body.

I have a link to my blog in my signature, and I also have a FB page called 'Fat Chic Slim' where I try to help others keep on the straight and narrow and offer some 'tough love'. I'm generally pretty hard and fast (maybe abrupt) with my advice (I am a qualified / registered Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor fyi), so if people want my honest advice they will get it - and possibly squirm lol, but it has helped others.

yup i totally get the loathing of reflection.. is it actually possible to get a flat tum again (with all the extra skin not to mention love handles) after having babies? i do think my arms are starting to look more toned though - am doing dips and triceps press ups for the bat wings.

will have a look at the blog soon (is late here - 10.30pm) but am not a FB member. have resisted this long, would prefer not to become one lol :P

anyway, one can hope. and it has only been 2 and a half weeks so can't feel hopeless yet lol! first goal - fundraiser. second goal - nan's 80th. third goal - 72kg. is my ultimate hope to make it to goal three before goal two, but reality can be harsh. esp when am a hungry hungry hippo a hungry hungry hippo i love to feed my face, a hungry hungry hippo... somethingsomethingsomethingsomething. does anyone else remember that ad? was a board game thing.

    anyway. to bed! night all

yay! weighed self this morning and a squinch under 12 and a half stone so when got down low enough to see kgs looks to be about 78.5-79kgs. which is not much... since has been about a week... but hopefully will get easier now that period has finally left me alone. and yay! 25% gone, only 75% to go! is quite cheering to think that every kilo is 5%

hope everyone has a fabulous day! we're all so getting there, yay for a lesser body mass!

and thank you beckoes! i had no idea what the little green things were was super excited to see i had one, and then saw it was from you! (at first thought it was like a posts past 100 thing, lol but i see now!) thank you hun!

okay i totally feel like i'm hogging the thread here... but i have a burning question for everyone.

what is your opinion: does going for a walk (so slow cardio type thing) straight after doing an interval training workout lessen the impact of the HIIT? or is it okay?...leesa?

the interval workout was really fab and felt so zappy and energized afterwards even though was sweating (as opposed to exhausted and wanting to sit down), it was amazing! am totally a convert even though has only been my first (beginner level - 12mins of 60:60) one today

Livvy - I'll come help hog the thread In regard to your question, well I'm not sure what HIIT stands for? But I woulda thought that walking is still walking = i.e. burning calories and worthwhile doing anytime. Plus after a workout, it'll help give you a good cool down. I'm glad you are loving your new interval workout. I did another 30min cycle tonight, and my legs felt sooooo dead... but about 15 mins in, I felt great again! It was really odd, but good too. Now i'm finished I'm so glad I did it. I've done a good hour of exercise every single day this week - not easy with hubby at work & freezing cold weather! So I'm rather pleased with mahself!

And while I'm ranting, for anyone who is just getting started. Well I've been going since the start of march, and i have to say I feel sensational. I'm so much stronger & fitter, I have heaps more energy. I am feeling fantastic. I am loving every single change to my body - it's all been for the better. And when I look back, the so-called "ease" and "stress-relief" of eating crappy food was nothing compared to how I feel now.

Hey I have a question too - relates to your flat belly question Livvy. I have a bit of stomach muscle separation still... and up near my diaphragm, it's still a bit of a funny shape - kinda sticks out & I don't like it. I know there's specific exercises to do (can find 'em by googling), but I just wondered if anyone else had tried them?

Leesa - I was very interested to hear your story. I'm 158cm, so another one who's on the ...erm... dainty side. I was always reasonably trim in highschool & early adulthood, but then with health issues, my weight went up to the mid 60's. I got very sick & lost it all, down to 49kg (bit too skinny) then settled down in the mid 50's too. At that stage I started doing triathlons, and if I may say so modestly () looked awesomely hot (even tho I didn't FULLY appreciate it at the time). Then some more health issues and I slowly crept up to 70 - and have fluctuated from 62 thru to 75 with pregnancies. Right now i'm 60.2 (to be precise) and I haven't seen this weight for quite some years (and I still can't believe I'm here tbh!). I'm still debating with my DH what weight to aim for, as I initially said 58kg, but I'm pretty close & I think I have more than 2kg to lose (carrying my weight all on my torso/waist/back/boobs). I was gonna go for 56kg, but reading your story actually made me tempted by 55 lol. I guess it's personal and only I will know when it feels right. I think DH worries I'll look too scrawny below mid 50's, whereas I think I just don't ever do scrawny, I actually have quite a muscular athletic build no matter what my weight. Do you feel that 55kg is what you want now, and how did you know when you were at the "right" weight for you? Oh and I like the "tell it how it is" approach too. And taking body attack already, atta girl!!!! Wow!!!

Beckoes - how are you going? I was impressed with your veggie soup making & clear goals. Made me wanna make soup too!

AFM - have AF this week, but I think I might make it under the 60's and omg I am practically salivating< I can almost taste it (ha!) and I'm soooo close! I've exercised really well this week, and I'm hopeful that even with AF I'll be there weigh in tomorrow....

EDIT: I DID IT, I DID IT! Reached 59.8kg.... lost 0.4kg. Total loss so far is now 9.2kg. Ecstatic!!!!!!

Hi everyone, glad to see you are all stil going along nicely and reaching your goals.

Weighed in today at 77.9kg - so 5.6kg down since I started on 10th June. I am currently on day 13 of cycle two of the 17 day diet. This cycle slows the weight loss down a bit as every second day carbs and red meats are included. So I've been having some natural starches (brown rice, porridge, etc) on the off day which is nice. Have also had a few treats here and there, which the diet doesn't allow in this cycle, but I felt I really needed to scratch the itch on a few occasions - and the scales are still going down - albeit much more slowly than in cycle one.
I've been exercising most days - on the weekends it's been a very fast paced hour walk each day and at least 40 mins for 3 out of the 5 weekdays this week. I have also noticed a change around my tummy and thighs with how my clothes are fitting - or not fitting to be exact. 8cms off my tummy so far which is great!

wow way to go belfie and ausgirl! that is seriously impressive!

belfie - HIIT is "high intensity interval training" and have been (procrastinating from hons seminar am meant to be writing...) surfing the net and it keeps popping up everywhere, so i figure maybe was worth a try lol, so bought for US$20 (NZ$25) three fit yummy mummy mp3s so i don't have to time myself and can just play it and go. oh and so thank you for the reassurance about walking! and awesome work with the cycling feeling great!

ausgirl - yay! well done you! that waist measurement sounds impressive!

ahhh. found american heart, lungs and blood institute recommended waist measurements to be taken just after breathing out, so less depressing measurement i took this morning... 76cm! so happy! only 6-7cms to get back to prebabyness!

after 45min (hard) pilates class today i felt really energetic again.. am wondering if it is that my fitness level is rising? ...maybe? :P

although must confess was naughty today and had an indian takeaway for dinner... chicken korma and a garlic naan (i skipped the rice)... oh well. gotta give ourselves a break sometimes, right?

have wonderful weekends! - am so glad we stopped on our roadtrip today. we stopped for five mins, just as we were about to leave the volunteer fire siren goes to call the volunteers (thought for a terrifying moment was a tsunami siren as sounds the same), and then five as we're driving five mins down the road is just carnage: huge trees snapped like matches, buildings shredded to nothing, just piles of rubble, 4 cars thrown off the highway - there had been a tornado and if we hadn't paused on the road we'd have been in the middle of it. was so scary.

I've been stalking you all. Ha! Been a while since ya'll heard from me I know you're upset, but I promise to stay around this time I was pregnant... key word was.. After a D&C and a week of eating absolute crap, I decided I need to pull my thumb out. So here I am. Incredibly inspired whenever I see a new picture of Leesa on FB. Girl... you look incredible! So far down 3.2kg. Want to get rid of another 10. I totally can do, but will need your help to stay on track!

Livvy - Woop and Woah! Woop - Nice one on all of the exercise, and that you're beginning to notice a difference in your fitness levels! You must be feeling incredible, and so you should! Keep up the awesome work! Woah - Holy crap on the tornado!! Glad you're safe

ausgirl - Well done on the loss so far! I bet you were super stoked when you saw you were in your 70's again. What is your ultimate goal?? I wanna join you in the 70 group

belfie - you are doing AMAZING. Both you and Leesa! Be proud! Under 60's hope you get there soon!

Ausgirl - sounds like you're going great! That's fantastic!

Tellytubby - I am so sorry . I ate total crap for 2 months after my D&C. I'm so impressed you're in here, you'll feel so great losing that 10kg, and 3.2kg down already, that's great - and we'll definitely help you stay on track.

livvy - aaah thanks for explaining that to me. I try to do interval work on the bike, but sometimes I just can't be bothered & sit there going with the music (and typing on BB ). But today is a running day, which is great, cos I'm totally sick of the bike. Re that tornado, omg I'm glad you're ok, and how lucky that you stopped!

AFM weeeelll I had a bit of a naughty day yesterday celebrating my 50's, which is counter-productive really - in fact that would be a good way to send myself back to the 60's, so I'm gonna make sure I reign it in today. I'm back on the healthy today, running & walking. I'm gonna have to be careful for a day or two, as my little lady starts family daycare tomorrow - and I don't want to comfort eat. So tomorrow I'm letting myself have a leetle clothes shop (am I excited about that or WHAT!?!?!?) so that should be fun! (before I get stuck into all the yucky end of FY bookkeeping). I need a new bra desperately, maybe a cheap pair of jeans & a t-shirt? None of my old small stuff fits well as my shape has changed a bit, so I'm always just wearing all this big baggy stuff and feeling like such a grot! So fingers crossed I can find some great stuff relatively quickly before I get stuck into work.

Leesa way to go. Sounds like your on fire IYKWIM. Woohoo. You deserve it your so motivated.

Livvy sounds like we are similar. My 16's a loose now and I could squeeze into a 14 but they were tight. I'd love to be in the low 60's (what I was when I met DH) but anything less I'd look emaciated. To tall.

Tellytubby I too am so sorry to hear about your m/c and D&C go easy on yourself.

I am going to try the Michelle Bridges 12week challenge. I have a few friends doing it and my sister in prep for her wedding so I think having a few people to talk about it to will keep me on the straight and narrow. I'm excited. I'm hoping to be in the very low 70's by Christmas. DH is still not been supportive. He loves me trim but for some reason isn't helpful at all. I wish he was fat.

Belfie well done on getting below 60 woohoo. Well done Ausgirl also.

Well I'm feeling like the odd one out. I can boast I lost a few kilos but that was from Gastro. I guess the first thing I need to do is get of this computer and go for a run. But I can't run. Thats something I am going to need to change.

Mildez - if it helps any, when I started in march, my goal was to walk 10-15 mins a day! It's amazing how quickly your fitness will improve when you get stuck into. The 12 week thing sound like a great idea too
