Just done 27mins on the wii...
SB (and anyone else that's doing sit-ups) I totally suck, I had to do 10 and man oh man, pg has done some damage to those muscles!!! 25 is awesome!

Leesa - core is different to pelvic floor isn't it? I was on the trampoline yesterday with DD and it seems that my PF doesn't really like it... Eeekk!!!

Weigh in tomorrow, Saturday night is movie and lollies night in our house, our only naughty night... I did indulge, hopefully I haven't gone backwards!

Had a naughty night. But I'm okay with it..

We very rarely go out for dinner, as our budget is also tight. But tonight we made an exception as DH just got a new job Yey!
Just to the local club. I had the roast meal. Which sounds healthy, but club style.. ya know. Not healthy! And then had a coffee and 1/3 a piece of carrot cake for desert. Oh also had a handful of hot chips from the kids dinner. So totally NOT good! But I plan on getting up tomorrow and going for a hour walk. ONE HOUR! I CAN DO IT! Just typing it in here to keep myself honest, otherwise in the morning I'll just pretend it never happened!

Also have a kids birthday party, and a tupperwear party tomorrow. So will need to be very conscious of my lingering hands and mouth! Tomorrow ladies, please remember to ask me how my walk went, and what I ate at the parties! LOL! Tough love. You know I love it!

Well my question for you all, is, do you have a "naughty meal" ?? A meal once a week/fortnight/month, where you satisfy that craving??

And yes Leesa! I did do the ol' name change. Just keeping everyone on their toes! ha! Seriously we've been married for 8 months and I've only now bothered to legally change it. So slack!

What movies did you enjoy?? I love a good movie night!

TT - I def have a naughty meal... maybe once a week, when it's CBF time! I have noticed that as time has gone on, I'm more motivated to make healthy choices... eat less chips, buy a salad with it, or have sushi etc.

SJ (and anyone else who just had bubs this year) - I was wondering if you should be doing situps yet? I know I STILL have some muscle separation from my PG (I had very wide abs separation right after she was born 10 mths ago) & was advised to avoid situps, but focus on core strengthening exercises. You can find 'em on the web. Leesa - you might have more info on this?

AFM, I had a thermomix demo party at my house tonight and I have eaten waaaaay too much (but I did buy a thermomix ). Gonna be a big workout day tomorrow i think!

    Ditto

I requested you Belfie, but I was on my phone so didn't have an option of leaving my name... Should be fairly obvious though... Sammie = Samantha

TT - sorry I missed your post! Woo hoo on DH new job
we watched monsters vs Aliens, we have an early dinner and we all hop on the couch... Every second weekend DSS is here too, so it was more snuggly with 5 on the couch... He is 13, but was saying last night how much he lives the tradition! I wonder how long it will last

leesa.. im embarrassed coz its all junk, and i wonder why i am gaining weight!!!! It seems pretty clear once i actually wrote it all down and looked at it!!! And you hit the nail on the head, im not a good cook!! i have only recently started making dinners, so its pretty basic stuff for me!! I also have very bland taste buds from all my years of eating crap- so i get scared to try new foods coz they have taste!!!! Weird i know!!

I will take on some ideas though- we are going rocery shopping tonight, so i will be looking at some healthier alternatives for dinners and snacks!!!!!

I felt great last night after doing the extra excercise!! I ended up doing a big house clean and vacumm too!!! I didnt do my last and first thing again though, im going to have to try and work on that!!

Oh and you all saw what i eat.. every night is a naughty night here.. bUT NO MORE!!!!

I'll join in with the hogging... tehehe. And added you on FB. Awesome to see you feeling great!

SB - I have one thought - and depends how much time you have. But I found that going onto calorie king (Aus website - it's free) was the best thing I ever did for weight loss. I'd never looked at calories in the past, and it got me thinking about my food in a whole new way. It really helped me to realise where I was getting lots & lots of energy from in my food. And I then found it was much easier to resist certain foods as I knew they would just give me more energy than I could possibly burn off in a day. So then I got my DH understanding calories too. And for him a turning point was after he'd snarfed a whole block of lindt chocolate. He knew a bit about calories but wasn't tracking his food as such. I pulled the pack out of the bin and showed him that it was 800cals he'd just consumed. It helped him to stop beating himself up, and just to make smarter choices. He has never eaten that much chocolate in one go since. And I found if I tracked my food for a bit, then I got the idea of how to eat better, and I didn't have to keep tracking. So you could always try tracking for a week or so? It's hard work & time consuming to start with, but then you get the hang of it. Sometimes a good way is to just jot down your food (and the amounts - if you have scales, it does help) on a notebook, then put it into CK that night if you don't have time during the day. The other thing I was amazed at was how small "recommended serving sizes" often are, hence why know HOW much you've had of something can be important too. Anyway, that's one suggestion for you. I"m so impressed at how you are turning things around. I know it's not easy, but i think you're making a great start.

Starbright - that's the exact reason why I promote calorie counting Hun. It may seem hard and time consuming, but since listing what I eat daily and monitoring my daily calorie intake - my weight loss never plateaued, it just kept going down. You don't need me to tell you your food intake was slowing your weight loss progress down - you realize it yourself now. That's a positive thing so well done you!
P.S - when u shop, try sticking to the outer edges of the supermarket (where the fresh food, meat etc is). Try avoid buying food in the middle aisles as it's pretty much all processed with little dietary benefits.

Sammie - yep, exercise always lifts my spirits! That's why if I'm cranky I exercise. As for having a treat night, no never when I'm trying to lose weight. Even now I'm not really trying to lose weight I can't bring myself to indulge as it undo's my mind re-programming of steering clear of it. My treats would be fat free yoghurt, a fruit platter, low calorie vodka (lol), and maybe some garlic bread with dinner.

starbright - ditto leesa, definitely around the outer edges is best, with the one exception of the canned foods aisle, although only for things like whole tomatoes, beetroot, maybe chickpeas (but only as a replacement to a carb like rice in a meal), maybe some tinned fruit as a treat with the most important point for this in clear juice, don't get the "lite" crap as is as artificial sweetener in it, ones in syrup have loads of sugar and the clear juice ones are generally without. my treat is (only when am really tired and not after 3pm as per my rule) organic baked beans (no toast :P), organic because all the non-organic ones have colour additives that make my hands (literally) swell up, turn bright red and itch like mad within about 15 minutes.

well done everyone else on a great looking week! looking forward to another great week!

AFM well did my intervals last night before bed, this morning before breakfast (bowl of porridge with soy milk) and then out for a 2 hour walk with bub (about 1.5 hours actually walking as had to go to supermarket and he wanted to run in the mud at the park lol). hoped on the scales after interval workout this morning and am 1kg lighter than last time i looked! woohoo!

    Hiya everyone

Can I join in? I am trying to get my eating under control to improve my health (insulin levels in particular) and lose weight. My main motivation is TTC. I MUST lose 10 kilos, but really I SHOULD lose 30+
I have just finished a two week carb detox which was great. I felt better and I lost three kilos. The plan was to slowly reintroduce complex, low GI carbs but then DD was hospitalised for four days so I went off the wagon a bit I thought about doing another week no carb but am doing low carb, low GI instead.

I am bad at exercise. Walking is about it (and not enough of it). Very occasionally I will drag out the exercise bike or wii fit.

I need to be kept in line

i would add tinned tomatoes and cottage cheese (to fill my cheese fix). vitawheat are pretty low calorie things, but i only ever have 2 at a time (about 45 calories) when the serving size is 4. also i really don't have them very often, once every few days to once a week really. i try to stick to raw carrots and/or celery or fruit as a snack... maybe some seeds to have as an alternate to nuts like pumpkin or sunflower seeds.. they're really yummy, not sure of calories or fat though sorry... hope that helps hun! happy shopping! oh and have a look at the DI% on the cereal boxes, special k might be rather high in sugar... not sure. maybe a muesli instead?

oh and high there nothing2lose! welcome we're all here, working pretty hard to keep each other in line so hopefully you'll feel it too lol! only warning - let leesa know if you don't want any tough love, she's great with dishing it out and we all find it really helpful but just say if you aren't quite up to that yet. well done on your detox and low carb, low GI diet! i hope your DD is well (or well-er) now. hope you manage to make your dreams come true

oh and starbright if you are reading labels to find the calories you divide the kilojoules (kJ) by 4.1868. so kJ/4.1868 on your cellphone

    YAY livvy!!!!! Well done!!!!

Hi n2l, welcome to the happening thread here!! I am a newbie and i will often need a good kick up the bee hind too!!! We can kick eachother!!!!

Well i did more on the bike while DD slept, I started with some stretching coz i always forget to do that i end up nearly cramping after not too long!!! But i did another 15 minutes, 3 min warm up, then 7 minutes of alternating 30 seconds hard 30 seconds easy (with one minute exception, i did two lots of easy!!) then five minutes of cool down. Then i had to walk around the house abit to stretch my legs!! Then i did 25 sit ups, and i got the big ball out and did 20 push ups, but im not sure if i did them right or not!!!

I also joined the calorie king site, but the recording of food is doing my head in a bit. I pulled out a nice new journal for my "Weight loss journey record" and i have started using it. So i think i will keep track there and go from there. It is suggesting i eat 1650 calories a day, but im not sure if that before or AFTER excercise kind of thing... not sure...

I also got me a new ticker.. setting small goals, my first goal is to get to 79... BELOW 80 here i come!!!

Very productive morning. We are doing more wood this afternoon, so i will be doing some more stuff there!!

I have had a sad thought though.. i am going to miss my bad food. I know its bad, but i like it. Its going to be hard. I am going to miss it I know its not doing me any good, but its all i am used to eating for so long, its going to be tough to just go, ok im never going to eat that again. Any tips on how to say goodbye to your favourite bad food??????

    lol thank you!

well i just went cold turkey.. frist week was fine then second week was really bad... dreamt about cake and slice dancing infront of me... i almost cracked... but managed to push through to my 21 day goal (and after that it has been *heaps* easier) with only a few lapses (a bite of cake here, a small scone there). i just felt so guilty about them afterwards that decided it really wasn't worth it. it didn't add anything to my life other than make me feel like i'd failed myself.

it's going to be tough hun, there's no easy way to say it, it's just going to be tough so you're going to have to be strong. and your calorie intake really depends on your size and how active you are. i'm tallish (170-171cm) so i aim for between 1300 and 1800 calories a day. i also am still BF so that burns a few calories in itself. i think for mum's who have babies only eating/drinking breast milk that burns around 200-300 calories a day alone, so you have to remember that bub is still needing you to be sensible with your eating. leesa said she went for 1200 a day but she's quite petite so needs less energy per day. it is all relative your height really...

my suggestion would be to maybe put into a calorie counter (like CK, i use BabyFit which is a SparkPeople site) to work out what you usually eat, then look up a calorie calculator that tells you how many to lose weight like the freedieting one, and start just cutting down slowly. don't try to reduce your portion sizes too quickly otherwise you body might go into starvation mode (storing fat) which we don't want!

anyway. that's my thought.. that's what i did, and i think it helped me slowly bring down the portion sizes (am rather a hungus) without feeling like i was depriving myself and being absolutely starving in the middle of the night!
