    Not so-unhealthy, unhealthy food

All this talk about healthy, nutritious food is making me want junk food I'm a big believer in the "everything in moderation" aproach to diet. I think if you want a quarter pounder with cheese then go for it, if you want chocolate - do it, just not all the time.

So, I thought maybe we could have a thread for the not so-unhealthy unhealthy food. If I crave chocolate then what is the least un-healthy one to go for (and please don;t say dark choc - bleugh!), malteasers, flake...?

And what about chips? Corn chips, cheesie twistie things, kettle chips...?

    Lollies? Natural confectionary...others?

What about dips, crackers, yummy cheeses...

BTW, I don't want to turn this into a "healthy eating" thread, just a not so-unhealthy unhealthy thread

If I crave chocolate then what is the least un-healthy one to go for (and please don;t say dark choc - bleugh!), malteasers, flake...? Maybe something like an Aerobar, it is the size of a choccie bar so you don't feel like you are missing out, but has less chocolate due to the bubbles. Flake would be good as well as a bar take awhile to eat, well if you eat one the way I do.

And what about chips? Corn chips, cheesie twistie things, kettle chips...? I tend to go for plain kettle, I prefer a good plain chip over flavoured, plus there are no additives. I save the plain corn chips for dipping

Lollies? Natural confectionary...others? Choc coated liquorice - yummo

What about dips, crackers, yummy cheeses... -
since when are biccies and dip bad?

ummm... I don't like chocolate unless its super dark so I'm no help to ya there!! I'm in love with the lindt dark chocolate with chilli atm.

    Corn chips plain.... yummo

I love natural confectionary fruit salad lollies, and candy corn. I get it from a lolly shop in the city that stocks American lollies

Dips, crackers etc.... I make my own hummous so its still healthy, but I love it, we make 3 cans worth a week and sometimes mix sweet chilli sauce in with it. *drool* we have it with pita bread that I break up & pop in the oven for 10 minutes to go warm & crunchy...

    Sure!

    What I do:

1 tin organic chick peas drained and rinsed
2 tbsp cold pressed olive oil (you could use any oil, just what we use in our house)
    2 tbsp lemon juice
    1 tsp ground cumin
1 garlic clove minced or crushed etc...
1 tbsp tahini (optional... extra source of calcium though...)
    pinch of salt & pepper.

I use a bar mix and if its too thick I alternate lemon juice & water until I reach a desired consistency. Officially you should use lemon juice and oil.... but I use water. Once its made I put a bit out at a time, the girls get 2 crackers and a spoon and go nuts... but I pour sweet chilli on top of mine and dig in with pita bread or carrot sticks.

Thanks for that, will add that to my Onenote recipe list

plain corn chips and salsa a great dip/chips treat and low in fat - esp oven baked corn chips- its the salt that is the killer on the corn chips so less salty the better. Otherwise make you own dippers with pita bread dried in the oven with a drizzle of Olive oil over them

best take-away- sushi or out of the 4 deadly sin take-aways - Red Rooster chicken rolls- but no good when pg as mayo with raw egg

you can get low carb choc as well

Diet jelly- a great treat, without the calories- fixes the sweet fix!

sugar free lollies are also good

    carb smart ice-cream

instead of fizzy drink- soda water and diet cordial mixed together- its CHOICE!

HMm now i am getting hungry again!
