Of course it's hard. I'm guessing you maintain a certain detachment and objectivity with your clients to be able to offer them that advice? It's a lot harder to see clearly when you are in the thick of it all...

Thank you all for making me feel welcome and for all your advice.... It's very much appreciated
Welcome to all the new girls in here. Its a great place to be and plenty of girls to obsess with. The DH's get a bit over it, but the girls on here dont
myturn - good to see you back. I know you have been stalkingI am happy that your FS appointment is next week. My AF came 5 weeks 3 days after my D&C.
Juniper - Sorry to hear that you think you may be back in here
Miloro - Great news on two snow bubs. I too had a big haul. 17 eggs. 9 fertilised and we got one transferred at day 5 and one frostie. The one they transferred was a BFP. I think too many eggs is not great, its better to have less but better quality. I had one EPU of 8 eggs, 7 fertilised, 2 were transferred at day 2 and 5 made it to blast.
Murrycod - FX for you xxx
AFM - I too have a case of the should haves. I should be 22 weeks tomorrow and know the sex of our baby and going to Adelaide next week for a shopping trip for baby stuffInstead I am going to Adelaide for yet another EPU *sigh*
I had yet another pipelle biopsy yesterday. Took my dr 3 attempts. Freaking hurt!!! I think its still worth it though. I told her about our 8 cell embryo and she said so you conceived naturally while you were not trying. Stop trying so hard lol. I said to her maybe we can always conceive its just the emby never grows. She said all we need is one and its like the lottery. Thats what my DH says.
She also said looking at the biopsy that she didn't think I was as far along in my cycle as I said I was. Either that or the lining is not thickening upI could tell looking at it too that it didnt' look like a little worm. Up until yesterday I was spot bleeding. Once a day when I wiped. Nothing much to it, but she said she could see a bit of old blood too. So who knows. The scan tomorrow will tell us more. I will be so annoyed if EPU is not Monday. Its the start of my holidays and I have semi booked stuff. Hopefully my lining gets its butt into gear by tomorrows scan.
Hi everyone.
Does it get easier emotionally after the 1st failed cycle? Have any of you done things differently the 2nd time? Also for those of you who have done FET? Do most frozen embryos surive thawing? I have 7 frozen from my 1st cycle?
Vic 261 - Is you FS giving you anything to thicken up your lining? Apparently mine was slightly thin on my normal cycle tracking ages ago.
I am so glad that I found this site - it has definatley mademe feel alot better to be able to speak to others going through the same thing. Its hard when all my friends have hadno troubleatall -so they dont know what to say.
Thanks guys
xx
hi Beau,
To answer your second question, I have done three FETs and all my embryos (four in all) have thawed and were transferred.
In answer to your first - does it get easier emotionally? - yes and no. I think the first few failures are very hard. I cried and cried. But then I think self protection kicks in and you don't get your hopes up so that by your 7th, 8th, 9th failed attempt you are kind of resigned to it. It's still upsetting of course but you don't have the same level of optimism as when you started. Usually you have already started planning your next cycle before you even get your official bfn.
Beau - I agree with N2L. Some cycles hit harder than others when its a neg. Usually depending for me on what I have done prior. If I did something different I have more hope, but if its the same then not much hope. I feel better with fresh transfers. Not too sure why as they say FET's have the same hope. All but 1 of my embryos have survived thawing, but I have always had a transfer. They thaw out one and if that one doesn't work they thaw out the next one. I am doing a stim cycle this month, so not too sure about my lining. I will find out tomorrow. This is my 4th stim and the last three have been exactly the same EPU days. I seem to respond well. I start Gonal F CD2, Cetrotide CD7, Scan & BT (E2) CD9, Trigger (Ovidril) CD10 & EPU CD12.
And I agree - this site is AWESOME xxx

Vic, sorry to hear your lining is not looking optimal.
Beau, it doesn't get easier or harder, it just changes. In some ways it's easier because you start to expect the disappointment and protect yourself, as N2L said. In other ways it's harder because you start to lose hope. Whether it's your first or your tenth, it hurts. I spent most of yesterday crying, but not because of this one BFN, but for all the BFNs and the fear that we'll never see another BFP... I also agree with N2L that planning your next cycle helps to put the unsuccessful one behind you.
As for the FETs, we've only done 2. We thawed a total of 3 embies (all we ever had to freeze from 5 fresh cycles) and 2 survived (1 for each FET). How many survive often depends on the freezing method - vitrification has a higher thaw survival rate than the slow-freeze method. All of our embies were frozen with the slow method as our clinic only uses vitrification for blasts (and ours were frozen day 2 or 3).
My embies are frozen through vitrification. I remember Juniper you asking me before (at least I think it was you) so I asked the lab tech about how it was done and he said vitrification.
I have no idea how it is done at MIVF where I've had all my treatment thus far.
Hi everyone!
Just wanted to say hi and vent a little (hope you gals don't mind)!!! Today I picked up my Puregon, and the second I had it in my hands, I guess this whole thing just became so real!!! I have not stopped freaking out about the fact that I am going to be injecting myself (I have a serious fear of needles, yet I give at least 10 a day to my patients!!!)... So the FS's plan is for me to do a preggo test first thing in the morning, then when it shows up BFN, start my 7 day course of Provera... Freaking out!!!! This has all happened so fast, it was only 15 days ago that I had my initial consultation with my FS...
Oh, and a quick question for you amazing ladies!! I asked the chemist to order in extra needle tips for my pen but I only received the 9 that came with my Puregon... Does anyone know how I can get some more???
Jo, I was always able to get extra from my FS. More often I was leaving extras behind because I had more than I needed. Maybe start by asking your FS (or your clinic)?
Got a note from my FS yesterday, they are changing to ICSI and have also increased my dose of Gonal F from 350 to 375. Not sure if that's because my AMH blood test came back as below average for my age???
Jo - I know it seems fast, but the faster the better for me. I hate all the endless waiting around and while jabbing myself I actually feel the most empowered. Like I am being proactive. Just take one day at a time hun. The first injection is the worst but honestly its mind over matter. Once you have done the first one its a thrill that its done and you wont believe how easy it was.
Faye - They would be changing to ICSI after seeing your DH sperm results I guess. Regarding the Gonal F have you had a scan yet? If your AMH is low I guess that could be why its been upped. Not too much thoughSo thats a good thing.
Hi to everyone else.
AFM - I had my scan an hour ago for lining measurements and follicle count. My normal girl was away and another girl did it. Zero personality. Barely spoke to meI asked how it looked in there during the scan and she said "yes". Well what does that mean??? I asked her after the scan how my lining looked and she took ages to reply and said it looked good, but the doctor would discuss it with me. Pfft. Thanks for nothing love! So now I have to wait until lunch time to see how I went. I usually get the pics and have a look myself, but she took over 20 minutes to get them done and still not ready and I had to leave as I was late for work. I feel like this round it annoying me. Of course it could be the drugs lol. I said to DH yesterday that I apologise in advance as I feel all evil and are trying really hard to control it. Everything is annoying me. Hopefully its good results around lunch time and they actually have flights available for me on Sunday. I have been watching them during the week and they seem to be vanishing fast. Will keep you all posted.

Yes with DH results I was surprised they hadn't suggested ICSI in the first place so I'm glad about that. I haven't had my scan yet - not due for that until 5th Nov. I really wasn't sure what was considered a high dose with the Gonal F.... Not due to start those until after the scan.
hey Jo - not sure where to get the needle tips, but I've always had WAY too many left over anyway, I'd be surprised if you need more.... It is freaky the first time, but then you realise you can do it and it will be fine!!!!
Big hug for Vic
Good luck Faye
