Yeah for AF!! She may be 8 days late but at least she is finally here we can start moving ahead. I have called the clinic and I am booked in for my first BT on day 10.
Coral - I agree that the weekend went way to fast.... back to the grind. Thanks for the info on failed thaws. We are heading that way now so it was good to know at my end too.
Nix - Sounds like you are a lot further along in your FET. you find success this time. Further to EmeraldStar's explanation ? Beta HCG is the pregnancy hormone that your clinic is looking for at your confirmation BT. Some people get a low reading that doesn't end up making it (a chemical pregnancy). The clinics are usually looking for a reading over 100 that should double every 48 hours although some start a little slow before they finally get their racing stripes. Incidentally it is the Beta HcG hormone that makes you need to pee all the time when you are first preggers. The presence of it irritates your bladder which cause you to feel like going to the toilet more often even if your bladder isn't actually full.... which I thought was interesting when I first found out!
Calin - did you get any more details about your scan? SonjaLouise explanation sounds like it might be on the money. I did down reg without the pill. I had a BT to check things were ok before starting my injections so my first scan was actually to check my follies.... hope I didn't confuse you.
EmeraldStar - don't work too hard.... make sure you save some chores for DH.
Emerald- I am not in tww yet, I was just popping in to read some positive stories. I am so happy about your egg pick up, what great results. Can I ask what dose of FSH you were on? I know you probably mentioned it earlier, but it is so hard to keep up with everyone?s story.
Nix76- Good luck with tracking that surge. I tried everything when I was TTC naturally, temp, OPK and spit tests. I could never pinpoint it. Is that the way all FET?s work? Checking for ovulation then transferring? If so I might be in a bit of trouble if I need to have an FET.
Lise- Did you have a scan today? I would be interested in hearing your results.
Mitf- Any sign of AF?
AFM- I had a scan today and I was a little bit confused when I first went in because the FS said that he expected to see a lot of follicles at 15mm and then we could organise EP. This was my first scan, I have only been on FSH for 5 days. I have about 8 follies, 2 at about 12mm, 3 around 10mm and 3 less than 10.
He was quite disappointed and asked if I was taking the injections properly, he then said he would increase the dose. The FS then looked at my file and said that he thought this was my second scan not my first and I had been on injections for 10 days! That he was sorry and that this was a good result for the first scan, but then he increased my dose from 300 to 375 anyway.
So now I am confused, I don?t know if this is a good result or not. If it was a good result why did he increase the dose anyway? I go in for another scan on Friday and my FS predicts that EP will be Monday or Tuesday.
If anyone could remember their results from their first scan I would be interested to hear. Is there a chance that more follicles will grow between now and Friday?
Hope you had a good Monday, another day down and another day closer to our
Sonya Louise - I started Gonal F on 150 units on 26/6. My scan was on 3/7 (7 days later) and I had the following;
9 follies between 1.03 cm and 1.50 (averaging at 1.25) There were 6 less than 1cm and one freakishly large one at 2.36 (probably a cyst).
I ended up with very high estrogen levels and they cut my dose due to risk of OHSS.
On the 7th, had 13 follies on the right and 8 on the left. EPU 2 days later collected 12 eggs of which 7 fertilised.
I hope that helps you, although every cycle is different.
Emerald star - Congrats on your great result. Keep us posted tomorrow after your results. Here's hoping you have some little fighters on your hand! Rest up lovely.
Mitf - Yay for AF. When she is finished at your house, can you please send her around to my place, no dilly dallying.
AFM - Hi everyone, received confirmation of BFN today. Now waiting to see if they can fit me in again on next cycle before the year end..
Going to treat myself to a glass of vino tonight. I hope everyone is doing well in their cycle. Will catch up properly soon.
Hi girls...being very rude and only posting quickly with no personals except for Tantee. Massive hugs m'dear, so sorry. Enjoy your vino!
Will post properly after reading what I've missed out on today!
AFM ... crossover cycle, so started synarol - yeh - last pill tomorrow - yeh- and just had some TMI alert - twinges and brownish discharge -kindof yeh-!!
getting there, but first off for a casual meal out with DH.
mitf - hooray!!! for AF...good to see things are starting to flow forward..(pardon the punt) he he...as for housework DH is hopeless i alwas have to do do things over...the only things he does well is cook and bring home the bacon!!!
sonyalouise - Ist IVF with the gonal f i was on 187.5iui and i got 15 follies ended up with 8 eggs at EPU. 2 made it to blast..transferred both.
2nd IVF i was on Puregon 200iui at my last scan there were 8 follies by EPU we picked up 10....I would say for your first scan you are doing very well....they will keep growing right up until EPU and also when you take your trigger shot that gives them a turbo boost as well....i am sure FS knows what he's doing.
tantee - thanks for your interest and i am so sorry about your BFN....glad to hear your doing well anyways and getting ready for the next one..that's the spirit
Mitf ~ glad to hear AF finally arrived - now you can get started on the next cycle! GL!
Emeraldstar ~ 10 eggs yay! What a great result! Hope they all reach blast stage! Hope you are feeling ok after the EPU.
I am wondering if anyone has experienced any major side effects from this procedure. This will be my first time and I don't know what to expect??!!
Sonjalouise ~ sounds like your follies are coming along just nicely!!
tantee ~ sorry to hear about your BFN hope you are doing ok.
airline ~ synarel - yay - pill yay - glad to hear it's all happening. Like you I am also taking synarel. I stopped the pill on Friday and AF arrived like clockwork on Sunday. I have a US on Thursday so I am hoping AF will be long gone by then. Has anyone had a scan with AF??? Taking synarel has been ok - currently experiencing a mild headache at the moment - however not sure if its related to stress and tiredness. FX you are symptom free while taking synarel!
Nix76 ~ GL with predicting ovulation and your FET goes well!
Juniper and Persephone ~ Congrats on the BFP ! Hoping you both have a healthy and happy 9 months! Bring on more BFP's for October! Emeraldstar - I like your idea of the October Wall of Fame! Count me in!
Goodvibes, Edie & Jillie to BB! Hoping this forum provides you with all the information and support you need during your IVF journey - it has for me!
Hello to everyone else - hope you are all cycling well!
AFM -I have my down regulation scan on Thursday - yay! Then it's onto puregin. My nurse has set my dosage to 100? A few of you questioned that this seems really low. Does the FS usually set the dosage or the nurse? I am so new to this process and I feel like I am asking such basic questions like I should know this already !!
ME 35 DH 32 & 1 Cheeky Furbaby
TTC #1 Since Nov 07
IVF#1 Sept / Oct
I just wrote the longest post ever after being offline for several days, and my computer froze and lost it all!!!!!!!!!
Will retype again a bit later after i've had my injection - but wanted to ask sonyalouise if you were wearing a black top and jeans today at MIVF? A nurse called Deb called out for a Sonya at 10am whilst I was there and I was wondering if that was you???
Off to inject now. I don't like this one (Orgalutran) as it gives me an instant headache. Will be back to finish my epic post
Mitf- Oops I must have been writing my post while you were posting. Glad to hear your AF arrived
Tantee- I am so sorry about your result enjoy your wine and I hope they fit you in for a transfer before the end of the year. Thanks for the info about your follies, wow you responded very well. It is interesting that they did the first scan after 7 days and not five.
Emerald Star- Thank you also for the information about your follies and on how they grow. It has put my mind at ease. Although it seems both you and Tantee responded well to a dose which is much lower than mine. It was nice to know that you got more eggs than your last scan indicated.
Meltcc- I know this may be tmi but I had a little of AF (more like brown mucus) at my down reg scan. The nurse told me that it didn't matter if I still had AF at the the scan, and I should have it anyway. Good luck, sounds like your cycle is working perfectly so far. Your low dose will just because they don't want to overstimulate. I am only such a high dose because I did an iui and didn't respond well. I was on 100 and barely had one follie respond. FS usually sets the dose.
ok..gonna try and catch up, sorry if I miss someone!
melttc - Hellooooo cycle sister - I have a BT on first day of AF, no scan. This checks
all the levels where they want them. Last pill was today but I've passed enough
to consider it day 1 of AF, so gonna get BT form faxed tom. Hope your
headaches pass. I normally have a couple at the beginning of synarel, but sofar
so good. I took a massive sniff last night and think I burned the inner lining of
my nose!!!!!!! whoops. done it enough times to know not to do that.
I ended up totally blocked up within 10 minutes...it was like I had the flu! slept it
off all good today.
People have probably responded to your question but if Puregon is like Gonal that
I take (the drug that stimulates/grows the follicles) then maybe they adjust it
after you've taken it for a while and they've scanned you. My clinic doesn't
alter the dose once they've started you as they told me it will start new follicles
growing, it won't increase the speed of the existing ones growing..if that
makes sense!! You can always ask if they're being conservative..I did after my
2nd cycle failed to work.
lise - thanks m'dear had a lovely dinner, nothing fancy, but yummy and great company!
good luck with your follies....fingers crossed they grow nice and juicy
calin - what a pain you have to drive soooo far each way! I guess my best advice would
be to put some cracking tunes on and sing your heart out!!!!!! I watched a
woman doing that in her car the other day behind me and was craning my neck
to see her when she changed lanes at the lights!! It was sooo funny, I even
changed the radio station to see what she was singing. Told DH, and he just
laughed and said...that's what you do!!!
juniper - simply
Loops - hello m'dear how are ya!!! hope you feel much better and DH looks after you
a bit more!! bit of TLC needed! I'd love for you to introduce your furbabies on
my 'our furbabies' thread in the Long Term Assis Concep forum
Emerald - good luck hun....focus on the wee ones that are gonna try and stick before \
thinking about no. 3 ..... I even talk to them! How ridiculous is that. More
so in the fact that they didn't work out, but you know... I feel connected
and it helps me!!
motherhood - you're on a crossover too!!!! good luck!!!!!!!!!! keep crossing days
off the calender!!
AFM..I finished the pill today ..whoohoo..and AF started to arrive ...whoo hoo...
we're on our way. Please please please let it be lucky no. 3
Calin- I am sorry you have to travel so far, I know the feeling it takes me close to two hours to get into the city when it is peak hour. Because all my app have been in the morning it has been peak hour every time!
Juniper- I am sorry that this one didn?t stick, I completely understand what you are going through. I had the same situation where I had a positive test at 4 weeks HCG 136 then the following Friday it was 45. They told me it was an inevitable miscarriage. I miscarried a couple of days later. I hope that you are able to get things sorted out and another cycle is started soon. Take care of yourself.
Nix- Regarding transferring 2 embryos my FS said that if you don?t have many embryos they like to transfer two but if you have a good number than they will transfer one at a time. We are seriously considering transferring 2 no matter what the result.
Emerald- Good luck with the transfer I am sorry that the results weren?t what you hoped. But you got two! And they are both A grade.
Loops- Sorry you have had a bad week, hope the sunshine today helped you feel better.
Nix- You must be over the scans by now hope you get some good results on Friday.
Meltcc- Not long now and the injections will start.
Airline- That?s interesting about the new follicles growing, I had never heard that before. I hope that means I have a few more growing, we can only live in hope.
AFM- Acupuncture session today, it was the first time the needles in my stomach hurt, as my acupuncturist said it is a bit hard to avoid the war wounds. I do both lucrin and Gonal F injections in my stomach, I am thinking of switching the lucrin to my thighs. Has anyone else done this?
Hello to everyone else hope today was a happy positive day for you.
Just popping in to give Juniper some big hugs. I know that there is nothing that I can say to make it better, but just wanted to let you know that we are here for you if you need to vent. Look after yourself and I hope you are feeling a little better soon.
A quickie before bed. A WARNING if you will! Took our good old mate who's in his 70s and lost his wife quite a few years ago, to see the film UP. His choice and it was good.
HOWEVER...who would've thought that a childrens animated film (although it's good for adults too!), would have the whole 'not having children' as part of the storyline. A small bit but part of it none the less!! I won't give it away, but there's a synopsis of the old man's life, and it shows them getting excited and painting a nursery and then her being consoled by a doc and her husband in a clinic room with a diagram of a pregnant woman in the background, so you get the idea.
Sooooo of course, inspite of it being an animated childrens film...I shed a few tears!!! Every film, tv show and flippin' book I watch/read has the children storyline. I've just finished a book that said Nothing about infertility on the back .... but there it was. Anyway, just to warn anyone who's not prepared. Wish my girlfriend who saw it the other week had told me.
hopefully this will be a much shorter post than my last, though still seems to have been a bit of action in here today.
Calin - I do like your idea of writing good/positive thoughts done to refer to later. I know when i'm feeling down I can never think of anything good, so I must start the same!
juniper - so sorry to hear your news. I don't pretend to know how it feels, but I hope you're taking care of yourself. Good luck with the further testing, I hope they find the answer for you and can use the info for your next cycle.
Nix - I was a little surprised too when FS suggested transferring two. He was dead against it the first time round, but he said if we have three or less embies then we'd transfer up to 2, so we'll see what happens. I'm secretly very excited and feeling a bit bad that i'm hoping we might only have 3
Loops - sorry to hear you got sick during your week in Melbourne and are feeling crappy. Hope you're resting up and staying put on the couch.
Emerald Star - tomorrow. Will be thinking of you and praying it goes well. I'm not really up with the differences between advantages/disadvantages of transferring cells at different stages, but I know that MIVF mostly does day 2 transfers (maybe always???) and have success so you never know what could happen.
Tracy - hope tomorrow goes well and FS says you can start straight away! And thanks to Emerald Star for answering your question for me! I'm still learning about all the other protocols as I only know about mine (antagonist cycle) so apologise if I expect everyone to know what I'm talking about!
Motherhood here i come - I know exactly what you mean! When I was waiting for AF to arrive I thought I would burst, I just wanted things to happen. I don't know if this is useful or silly, but I know when I was trying to lose weight (well, still doing it really) I made a list of all the things I like to do, like taking a bath, reading a book, talking to a friend, planning a trip, planning my dream kitchen renovation etc...! Maybe if you had such a list time would go a bit quicker for you?!
sonyalouise - I was sitting right in front of you with my husband on the more uncomfortable chairs! I was wearing a white shirt and grey pants, and between my husband and I we seemed to have a million bags around us!! If I see you there again i'll say I don't know when my EPU will be yet, i'll find out on Thursday. And no headaches this time round on the Orgalutran (touch wood)...!
airline - 3 is the lucky number for you. Glad you're that little bit closer! And I SO know what you mean about unexpected storylines in books/movies/tv shows etc. I read a couple of books last week none of which seems remotely like they would be anything to do with babies/conception/IVF etc. Then THREE of them had such elements and I found myself getting more and more upset. There should be a law against such things!!
Oh dear, this doesn't really seem any shorter does it? I'll sign off now.
Enjoy what's left of your evening ladies, talk tomorrow.
PS - Mel - just copied all of this into word 'just in case'...!!
airline, sorry, I could have mentioned that. I had tears streaming down my face and was all but sobbing... But then that happened again a few times later in the movie too...
Thanks ladies for your words. I know I'll be fine and it will just take time. It already feels like this is going to be painful (physically) and AF hasn't even started yet...
