Claresmummy - I found OB's to be sympathetic but not really a specialist when it came to recurrent miscarriage. I saw an OB for my last two miscarriages and he was not much help. I insisted on being referred to a fertility specialist and it was a really good move on my part. The fertility specialist I saw was involved in IVF but it was not his sole concern. I did all the tests and he found nothing specific. As I could fall pregnant still and had had a child previously (same as you) he wasn't concerned with me getting pregnant but maintaining the pregnancy. I was put on progesterone support as I ovulate late in the cycle and he thought that might effect the environment for the baby. However, I now know he mainly felt I needed the baby aspirin as he has recommended I take it until 36 weeks. I think, even though tests showed nothing, he was likely right as I have a blood clot behind the placenta so maybe blood clotting was a problem with the 4 babies I lost. You don't need the OB to put you on baby aspirin as it's available over the counter. I use cartia low dose aspirin and take one a day. Cartia is good because it is coated so it doesn't upset your tummy long term. Buy some now and start taking it from the TWW period just in case.
Don't give up CM. I think you are a good candidate to be up the duff by the end of the year. Ask the OB or your GP to refer you to a fertility specialist, someone who can assist you with progesterone. Also, the other thing I found helpful with my FS was the close monitoring. He checked for a HB at 6, 8 and 10 weeks (he has US equipment in his office). I read that close monitoring helps prevent recurrent miscarriage but researchers have no idea why. I can't say why myself but it really helped my mental state so maybe that assisted. Good luck sweetie. I'm sorry your hopes were built up for this appointment only to be shattered like this.
