Hi everyone thank you for your welcomes to this thread, i still have a bit of catching up to do so sorry if i lose track of you at times
How did you go today MiniMe? I know what you mean about the tww, would be nice to just sleep through it and wake up two weeks later with a positive!!
Loops, good luck with the tractor. its so stressful ivf as it is without having the huge expense aswell. we have had to put off cycling for a while because of financial issues, its just not fair.
Mindhugs, so so sorry to hear about your m/c, it brought back sad, traumatic memories of my m/c last year. I lost my bub at 9 weeks, its just so heartbreaking when you do see a heartbeat then next scan its gone, you cant help but wonder what happened in between and try to see if you did anything that could have caused it, of course there is nothing but i did carry a lot of guilt around for a long time. I am only now finally beginning to move on and feel positive for our next cycle. We just have to keep praying that next time will be the time that our precious earth angel will stay with us. big hugs to you xx
Hopefully we start cycle in about a week, back to the jabbin & stabbin ohhh cant wait!!!
Hello there,
I just wanted to join this thread, though my next cycle (short, antagonist, first ICSI) will start most likely next Monday or Tuesday. Not sure if perhaps it's too late.
I am pretty scared, because of our history with IVF (see my sig).
I just wanted to express my admiration for you ladies. You are all so strong for going through with multiple cycles, or even just one.
I was actually just checking my horoscope (desperate!) and it said something about a rough time around the end of June (when my BT would be) and I am seriously thinking of cancelling the cycle.
I don't know if I can do it. I mean, I know that as soon as AF shows, I'll phone, hand over the contents of my bank account and start getting excited, like an automaton. I feel so pathetic,("It's me again" ... at the EPU: "Yes, I have had this procedure before") like someone phoning a radio contest and having to sing or something, and then failing.
Also, Dreamrise, I wanted to say how sorry I am: it is horrible starting from scratch. It feels like such a long battle. BUT I think, and I'm not 100 per cent sure, so someone correct me, that your chances might be better on fresh?
All the best,
WW
Hi and welcome worrywart! It's never too late to join us. GL with this cycle. I hope 3 is your lucky number. Right now I'm waiting to find out if 5 is our lucky number, so I know just what you mean about the "Yes, I have had this procedure before" thing.
Worriwart & Yogi - hey guys. We will all be in here going through cycles together by the looks of it. Fingers crossed it's a nice easy ride.
I got success with a FET in March this year and then lost the heart beat at 10 weeks. It was hard getting scanned from 6 weeks and 8 weeks and seeing the heart blinking on the screen and hearing the sound on the monitor. You start to get attached to it. Then at the 10 week scan there was a flat line and no sound. Hardest day of our lives so far and definitely the hardest part of the journey. My husband didn't even make it out of the hospital without collapsing in tears......Then I had to go through what they call a Suction and Curette a few days later to remove it all. Everything was sent off for chromosome testing, and it came back clear, but they did tell us it was a boy. Yet another hard day hearing that news! We ended up in grief counselling which helped so much. Then a few weeks after that my Dr put me in for another laparoscopy (3 years since last one) and I had extensive Endometriosis, I really didn't think it would come back that badly from 3 years ago. My bladder was covered and both ovaries were fused to my uterus with it etc etc. He had 6 pages full of before and after shots to show me after the surgery (mmm, great). Phew - the last few months have been quite a ride!!!
Here I am 4 weeks on from all of that ready for another stim cycle. I feel like nothing could be worse than all of that. I never thought we would get through it. But we did. This one will be antagonist with ICSI, so hopefully we get more blasties.
You know we all have our own stories and nothing seems as hard as what we go through ourselves. But just when you think you can't carry on anymore and can't face anymore IVF you somehow find that you actually can. And when these babies do come along they will be so precious and so loved they won't know what hit them.
Lori - I'm rooting for ya honey. Someone once said to me "if you really want a baby you will get one, you just have to be prepared to keep on going". I'm starting to understand what that means (almost 4 years on of trying...).
Have a good night everyone. I'm thinking of you all xoxo
Mindhugs - I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember your name and I'm sorry you are back here, but also glad that you have found the strength to come back again and I hope that the result of this journey will be a positive, happy and healthy pregnancy - for both you and your DH. I had a little cry reading your post, this is a tough enough gig without having to deal with such a loss. I believe we are all created equal with the same amount of strength, just that some of us are tested to see how strong we are. I'm so sorry that you had to be tested to such a degree but I am sure your little boy will be with you on this journey and forever. xxx
Trueblue - congrats, thats great news!!
Dreamrise - It's amazing what we'll do, the strength of love for a child that isn't yet here. As a Mum I;m sure you would do anything for your child, and this second child is no different to you. I hope you find the strength to try again if this is what your heart is telling you.
Hi to all the new ladiesand sorry for lack of persies - I have seen another BFP in the 2WW thread so hopefully there will be more of us moving on out of here soon!
AFM - Going to see another FS for a second opinion tomorrow - my FS told me everything with me is perfect and when I asked if anything else could be wrong, I got a very clear 'NO'. Just want to be sure so am getting another opinion even though I am doing another FET this month and am having my first BT next Weds.
Mindhugs - I'm not really sure what to say. The fact that you are back to try again shows how much strength you have and I have my fingers double crossed for you that this next time you get the results you want with no sadness or pain at all.
Worrywart - Welcome! Don't give up hope before you start. I make a rule that I only listen to my horoscope when it's something I want to hear! Hopefully the rough time that it is talking about will be morning sickness!
Lairdoz - I don't like the sound of the FS. Surely there must be something else they can investigate if it is just not working. Hopefully your second opinion will give you all the answers that you are looking for. Good Luck!
AFM - Egg collection day has arrived. I haven't jabbed myself in over 24 hours and I am feeling good! Extremely nervous, however, I think my hands are actually shaking and I still have a couple of hours left. I'm a mixed up ball of emotions at the moment, one minute sure everything will go fine, the next trying not to get my hopes up (and getting them down in the process), and this is only my first go. I have massive amounts of admiration for those of you that have gone through this more than once. You must have truck loads of strength. I thought I was strong until I started this process. Not sure if it is all the hormones working for once in my body but I have wanted to collapse in a teary mess pretty much since day 1. If all this goes well, I think I will be comatose for my TWW.
Anyway, hope you all have a brilliant day filled with good thoughts and great news.
Mini Me - Good luck with your EPU. You will be fine. EPU is actually my favourite part of the whole thing as I loooooove the feeling of the anesthetic. Lucky I'm not into substances like that in the rest of my life or I would be an addict hehehe. Take it easy and just lay back and have a really good sleep.
I always say that I wish they could just leave me under for the TWW, do another transfer if it didn't work and then just wake me up when it did. How nice that would be.....
Hi Ladies
Minime ~ GL today, you get lots of great eggies!
Babytruj ~ Congrats hun! Great HCG . Your Pg is a little low but I reckon it will pick up, FX for you!
Trueblue ~ So excited for you!!! Great follies so far, FX hun xoxo
Sevie ~ Hi. GL with your IVF cycle. Just trying to work out your sig - are you doing surrogacy or just donar sperm? Also when you say 98% male factor do you mean DH has very low count etc? Sorry about all the q's just interested to know your story and to get to know you. Wishing you all the very best anyway.
Dreamrise ~ Big hugs sweetie! Sounds like an early m/c to me, most likely chemical pg. So if its any consolation at least you got that 1 step closer and I know how you feel because I had the same thing, close but just not close enough. Yes I would get them to up your dosages next go.
Yogi bear ~ Hi and welcome, GL with your cycle!! So sorry about your m/c's.
Terry ~ welcome back hun. Wishing you all the very best for this go, FX!
Lisa B ~ Sorry about your probs with the nurses. I had kind of a similar experience last IVF try because my nurse went on holidays which is fair enough but I had real trouble trying to get onto other nurses and was doing a lot of it on my own and following the information that I had basically. It kinda sucks lol. GL with this cycle!
Mindhugs ~ Hi. Thanks so much for asking about me, means so much xoxo. So sorry about your m/c - hugs. You may have worked it out by now but for the smilies you have to click on go advanced. Hope you get a BFP again very soon!
Worrywort ~ thanks for your lovely words - hope you can do another try soon and you feel up to it! It is very hard after a couple or few unsuccessful attempts, know how you feel.
Lairdoz ~ Hey hun. GL this month and with the 2nd opinion. Sounds like a good plan xo
Hi Trea ~ Hope you are well
Juniper ~ WOW, Congrats!! That is so wonderful Hope that beta keeps increasing, FX!
Hi to anyone Ive missed and best wishes!
AFM ~ Well came so close to selling our tractor but not quite. Still have one other person maybe interested though so FX. Because the plan is and we are down for another IVF/ICSI Antagonist Cycle in July but we wont be abe to do it unless we sell the tractor and have until about mid June to have the money. So not looking good. If we cant do July we'll prob have to wait until Oct unless we change to Melb clinic. S also hoping we conceive naturally - long shot but you never know. Ive just ovulated and we got plenty of bed dancing in LOL so I guess Im in TWW.
Juniper, wow, fantastic!! So pleased to read this. Keep us posted.
Mindhugs, I was so moved by your story. I also had a bit of a cry. It is amazing what you've been through. GL for your cycle.
Trea, I too love the GA and would also love to be knocked out until pregnant! That is hilarious. I love that idea.
MiniMe: morning sicknes, that would be awesome!
Lisa B: I know what you mean about problems with paperwork and timetables and so forth. We felt like we might as well be doing all the file-keeping and admin ourselves. We followed up on everything. Most of our paperwork was mysteriously lost and faxed/scanned/posted several times.
Also, just a big Hi to everyone and looking forward to getting to know you all.
AFM, sitting here with my cat who's had her ear stitched up from a neighbourhood bullying cat and this ear - well, it is just totally gross. We take her to the vet every second day, and I think we're on their "high maintenance" list. Our cat is certainly quite nervous. I hope we're more chilled out as parents (doubt it!).
Juniper - Congrats.... do they always tell you the actual numbers?
When I had my first blood test they just told me that the number was too low to be pregnant (which I already knew since my period started really badly the day before) but too high for normal so when I had the follow up test on Friday they told me that my levels are okay now and it means I did have a chemical pregnancy. They also told me my rubella immunisation level is okay so I asked what it actually was - 34 (it was a 10 before I was re-immunised and it should be above 20). So atleast that's good to know that I'm okay with that now. I just find my clinic hardly give out any details or information.
I was teaching all day today (and will be teaching all day tomorrow) and it has been such a horrid week (on top of finding out I'm not pregnant I had a girl I had started to date not only dump me but actually turn really nasty! and then partly due to that I had a good friend get upset with me and it nearly ruined our friendship... as it is I think it has damaged it alot... though hopefully mostly repairable). I only got a few hours sleep last night so was feeling a bit of a wreck today. I teach adults (mostly mature age women) so in class today we were talking about different ways to get information and I told them that I have found forums can be a good way to learn from others experiences and shared the fact I am going through IVF and that I have found it helpful to find out what doses of hormones other women are on, what tests their clinics carry out etc so I know what to ask my clinic. It's the first time I've mentioned anything about my TTC journey to any one other than close friends (and you guys) so I felt a bit nervous sharing but was then disappointed that none of them asked me about it or acted supportive during the break (normally my students are a very supportive group). I have one deaf student and her interpreter spoke to me a bit about it (told me I should go home - but there is no one else to take the class and some of my students drive up to 7 hours return trip to attend class - so I can't bail on them). Anyway she shared that her sister-in-law had 3 IVF attempts (including 1 chemical pregnancy) but was not successful so is now going through the adoption process (not the sort of news I needed to hear). :-(
Loops - I can relate to the stress of having to sell something to afford to keep trying. I am currently trying to sell a few of my horses and not only do I need the money from their sale but the longer I have the more it is costing me (as they are all being hand-fed). It's very frustrating.
Where do you normally go for treatment? I have family friends in Leongatha... husband and wife both worked at Leongatha Secondary School for years (think they are both retired now). They actually live in Meningn (however it's spelt). I think one of their daughters (probably a couple of years older than you) lives in Leongatha still and not sure about their other daughter and son. As a kid we used to always spend alot of school holidays with them and I remember the countryside always seeming green... where I grew up (just on the outskirts of Werribee) and where my grandparents had their farm (Donald) was always so brown and dry that gippsland was a nice refreshing relief.
So I have an appointment with the clinic next Thursday. Apparently I need to wait for my next period (and I have been warned it could be a long cycle - it normally varies from 4 to 8 weeks so I'm hoping it's not too much longer than 8 weeks). Then I will be starting on "the pill and injections pretty much straight away"??? I'll be interested to find out what they mean - surely they dont' mean the contraceptive pill and injections at the same time? Apparently this time I won't be on synarel at all and they are aiming for a shorter cycle... but they aren't increasing my hormone dosage at all. I am going to ask them about this at my appointment as this will be the last cycle I can afford and since last time only resulted in one embryo I think they should be increasing my hormones to insure I get a few (as I could hopefully afford one more frozen transfer if I have any embryo's left over but not enough to start from scratch).
Any advice on what I should be asking for or about. I think I will definately need that 2ww sleeping pill though - I'm worried the reason I had a chemical preg and didn't end up pregnant is because I was stressing so much and maybe the stress effected the embryo?
I've been reading a fair bit written over the last few years on this thread and I think you lovely ladies are more than qualified to comment on my predictament!
Hubby had a vastectomy 16yrs ago, no real hope of reversal....not many swimmers but enough to fertilise (has two teenage children from preivous marriage). Has to have TESA.
Me:
Harvest May 09;
18 eggs, 12 mature, 3 made it to blast day 5. Used frozen swimmers.
ICSI fresh - 125 puregon, after transfer crinone - BFN
2 FET late 2009 - both natural cycle, pregnyl 1500 x 3 after transfer - BFN
Harvest march 2010;
12 eggs collected, 8 mature, 4 made it to blast day 5. Fresh swimmers.
ICSI fresh - 125 puregon, after transfer crinone - BFN
1 FET june - natural cycle with 25 puregon everyday also, pregnyl 1500 x 3 after transfer - BFN today
Have only seen the one FS at Hollywood in Perth.
Wondering where to go from here.....have 2 frosties at day 5 blast.
Emryologist always reported excellent cell survival in thawing (100% on last FET, others were in 90's).
Endometrium Class A on ultrasound.
Haven't had any other tests done apart from original screening. Have only seen the FS twice, once at beginning and again after i had to get an updated referral and had to go for another collection. Not sure if this is normal practice elsewhere, also whichever doc is on duty does the transfer, and after that i just deal with the nurses??
Spoke with nurse about doing the chromosomal test (PSD?) on embryos before transfer (very expensive)....not sure whether it is needed anyway, DH has had children and I had a pregnancy terminated a decade ago.....but dont really understand what this test is for and how it can help.
Should i request other bloods before next transfer? Since ive had a termination i imagine there is a possibility that my uterus (or somewhere in there) has scarring - i would have expected this would have been taken into consideration?? I havent had an internal testing - apart from HSG and pap smear in the beginning.
Have also read of others changing diet (carbs/prot/fat) prior and during collection to get more viable eggs? This has never been mentioned at hollywood.
Soooo....am tossing up whether to go for another FET (using one or the two remaining), try another harvest in the hope i get better quality eggs, request some more blood tests....or try another FS at a different centre? Hollywood is very expensive in comparison with other centres, but am unsure if a could take all my records with me? or if any other centres can accommodate me (i live 2hrs from perth and currently am able to have some bloods 1/2hr away).
