Hi everyone,

Juniper - Congrats.... do they always tell you the actual numbers?

When I had my first blood test they just told me that the number was too low to be pregnant (which I already knew since my period started really badly the day before) but too high for normal so when I had the follow up test on Friday they told me that my levels are okay now and it means I did have a chemical pregnancy. They also told me my rubella immunisation level is okay so I asked what it actually was - 34 (it was a 10 before I was re-immunised and it should be above 20). So atleast that's good to know that I'm okay with that now. I just find my clinic hardly give out any details or information.

I was teaching all day today (and will be teaching all day tomorrow) and it has been such a horrid week (on top of finding out I'm not pregnant I had a girl I had started to date not only dump me but actually turn really nasty! and then partly due to that I had a good friend get upset with me and it nearly ruined our friendship... as it is I think it has damaged it alot... though hopefully mostly repairable). I only got a few hours sleep last night so was feeling a bit of a wreck today. I teach adults (mostly mature age women) so in class today we were talking about different ways to get information and I told them that I have found forums can be a good way to learn from others experiences and shared the fact I am going through IVF and that I have found it helpful to find out what doses of hormones other women are on, what tests their clinics carry out etc so I know what to ask my clinic. It's the first time I've mentioned anything about my TTC journey to any one other than close friends (and you guys) so I felt a bit nervous sharing but was then disappointed that none of them asked me about it or acted supportive during the break (normally my students are a very supportive group). I have one deaf student and her interpreter spoke to me a bit about it (told me I should go home - but there is no one else to take the class and some of my students drive up to 7 hours return trip to attend class - so I can't bail on them). Anyway she shared that her sister-in-law had 3 IVF attempts (including 1 chemical pregnancy) but was not successful so is now going through the adoption process (not the sort of news I needed to hear). :-(

Loops - I can relate to the stress of having to sell something to afford to keep trying. I am currently trying to sell a few of my horses and not only do I need the money from their sale but the longer I have the more it is costing me (as they are all being hand-fed). It's very frustrating.

Where do you normally go for treatment? I have family friends in Leongatha... husband and wife both worked at Leongatha Secondary School for years (think they are both retired now). They actually live in Meningn (however it's spelt). I think one of their daughters (probably a couple of years older than you) lives in Leongatha still and not sure about their other daughter and son. As a kid we used to always spend alot of school holidays with them and I remember the countryside always seeming green... where I grew up (just on the outskirts of Werribee) and where my grandparents had their farm (Donald) was always so brown and dry that gippsland was a nice refreshing relief.

So I have an appointment with the clinic next Thursday. Apparently I need to wait for my next period (and I have been warned it could be a long cycle - it normally varies from 4 to 8 weeks so I'm hoping it's not too much longer than 8 weeks). Then I will be starting on "the pill and injections pretty much straight away"??? I'll be interested to find out what they mean - surely they dont' mean the contraceptive pill and injections at the same time? Apparently this time I won't be on synarel at all and they are aiming for a shorter cycle... but they aren't increasing my hormone dosage at all. I am going to ask them about this at my appointment as this will be the last cycle I can afford and since last time only resulted in one embryo I think they should be increasing my hormones to insure I get a few (as I could hopefully afford one more frozen transfer if I have any embryo's left over but not enough to start from scratch).

Any advice on what I should be asking for or about. I think I will definately need that 2ww sleeping pill though - I'm worried the reason I had a chemical preg and didn't end up pregnant is because I was stressing so much and maybe the stress effected the embryo?
