Nah, no change with me i have stopped all medication except the metformin and folate or folic acid ( i forget what its called lol) see the FS Thursday 10th and find out if i have the surgery or not. Im in two minds about it im a bit concerned incase it does more harm than good but also excited incase it is the answer to make the medication kick in.

i did have a nice weekend away with hubby though

Calin - im not sure if it will work for you but i am in the process of IUI - intra uterine insemination - this might be an option for you to try before the IVF, cost wise it is only about $400 a cycle. But i dont know your whole story - might we worth asking your dr.

Hi girls... Well I must admit I'm a bit of a lurker here, but like some other newbies, I found this thread and have been addicted to seeing everyones journeys etc.

My story basically is that I am overweight, and we have to have IVF because I am not ovulating and hubby has LSC and LM. So IVF (specifically ICSI) is our only real option.

My Gyno just prescribed me Metformin and have heard about the side effects. I need to have 3 tablets a day. That seems like an awful lot... does anyone else need to take 3 a day?

I need to/want to lose a bit of weight before we begin IVF offically, so we are holding off beginning until Dec/Jan Feb ish...

Good to see such a strong community of girls here who all understand and relate to each other's journeys... especially when it seems the rest of the world doesn't understand!

Yes this forum is unbelievable.
I also am in the process of icsi. I have been back on the pill for the past 10 days and begin nasal spray next week then starts all the scans/injections etc.. Hopefully for a transfer very early Oct.

I was taking Metformin for about 5 months, i found it to be horrible.The tablets were making me feel nauseated all the time, and really tired. TO begin them i started at 1/2 3 x a day then worked my way up to 3 full ones a day.I got to the point where i was barely eating as i felt so sick, they made me so moody and just horrible in general.
I went and saw my fs after putting up with it for a few months and then he prescribled me with diabex, oh what a relief.. I feel great.I can take the 3 a day no worry. On the odd day i may feel a little off but nothing compared to before. Diabex is exactly the same as metformin just is a slow release medication.
Give the metformin a go but dont push yourself. I know others that have had the same problem as me and had to get the diabex but the i also know people who have been perfectly fine on them each person is different, just see how you go..

it is much better to take the chlomid at night then site effects are a lot less, you kind of sleep through the period when it would normally make you extremely moody

Just thought I'd add my two cents' worth and also say thanks: I've now had 4 Clomid tablets and took your advice to have them at night. The side effects have been so minor I think they're probably just due to stress more than anything: just having broken sleep for a couple of nights, a couple of very mild headaches and some moodiness. So taking them at night seems to be working well for me!

Tammara: Glad to hear you had a nice weekend away. I need one of those! From what I've read, unfortunately I don't think IUI is an option for us, but we have some IVF info to look through this weekend, plus our first IVF appointment is in a couple of weeks, so we'll see.

Beckie73: Sorry if you've already mentioned it, but are you on Clomid and the trigger injections because you don't usually ovulate? The reason I ask, is that I've been given Clomid but not been booked in for any sort of follow-up appointments or treatment. I think it's because I ovulate regularly and this is just a try-it-and-see thing, to see if sending out a few more eggs might increase my chances of an unassisted conception. Have I got this right? Just a bit confused.

just want to welcome and reply to sparkysgirl, im on 2 tabs of metformin a day - 1 morning 1 evening i found the only noticable side effect that i had was if i didnt take them with food - how can i put it nicely??? my bum and the toilet became good friends lol but other than that i dont think i got side effects - none that were noticable anyway.

Im getting back to my old self now not being so sad and fed up with the world FS appointment next week and going away for my neice's 1st birthday this weekend so that will be good have a great weekend girlys

I'm new to this forum site, but really needed to chat with people who are going through similiar issues (not really up for sharing it with friends just yet :-)...

Hoping that someone will be able to offer some helpful advice/words of comfort re: TTC as feeling a bit lost.

My Ob/Gyn/FS has diagnosed poly cystic ovaries and low lutenizing hormones (?) and have been on Clomid for 3 months now (25mg) with no success. Blood tests to check Ov each time and think each time we'll get it - but nothing. Ov late each time ~21 days with 35day cycle. Now been put on 50mg Clomid taking 1 in morning and 2 at night - seems excessive to me???

Not good communication with Ob/Gyn/FS unfortunately - but need to know questions I should be asking him! Are injections the next step? Is there other medication I should alternate Clomid with so not taking consequitively? Is intercourse best as much as possible near ov or every 2-3days near it? Aaaah...

Wondering how long is too long with Clomid and whether it should be prescribed in consequitive months as read article saying it actually blocks estrogen receptors and hence stops preganancy?
