    hey ladies,

christinajayne - welcome to the forum. Interesting to see the list of things to try - I've previously had chromium but hadn't been sure if it was safe during PG, so hadn't tried it (I think the only formulation I have at home says on the pack not to take it during PG).

Artechim - I was wondering about acupuncture too. Has anyone else tried it?

Becci - good luck with the mastitis I hope you feel better and good to hear Ethan is doing well.

Tennykins - do you have to keep checking your BSL's and then do a GTT at ~6 weeks? I can understanding not feeling as motivated, plus it's not like you haven't got some other things to deal with - I'm sure you'll get there when you're ready

pachamama - interesting that they're saying you'll have a big bubba. I've read lots of comments in these forums about the sizing scans not being all that accurate - did you all find that to be true? I wonder if I should be listening to them or not! One of my friends (without GD) was told at 34 weeks she'd be having a huge 'un (at least 8-9lb), and it came out (full-term) at a pleasant 7lb 2oz.

I started my insulin on Monday (thanks again for the support! ) and it's going ok (oh and Becci, it's protaphane). I started on 8 units in the mornings, and still don't have to do fasting levels. Both first & second mornings were a bit freaky but I"m starting to get used to it now. My BSL's have been all over the place (even with exactly the same meal! Go figure!), so they're upping the insulin already (to 12 units) - but I'm fine with that given I'm on it anyway! I finish work end of next week, can't wait. Had my aunt's funeral yesterday, and all the house guests departed this morning, so things are settling down a bit which is good.

    Cheers,

    Hi,

Blackmores sugar balance which contains chromuim as the main ingredient, is safe to take in pregnancy, it contains smaller doses than just chromuim but you take three times a day, and half an hour before meats as it then starts your insulin product so when the food hits your body has been prepared. Also another excellent thing that i did to help drops the scores was ten minutes of walking on the spot or around the yard, anything but sit down , after a meals.

This will be baby number 5, so we will then have 5, 5years and under, but i am always praying that we will get twins, i like the idea of two for price of one.

We do like the name Elijah, i are quiet hoping that we will get another boy but if we don't ins't no drama, but i would like a brother for my son. the poor boy is stuck in a house full of girls at the moment.

    Hey Guys!
Well the mastitis is doing great. Ab's doing their job luckily, so feeling much better.
Plus it looks like (fingers crossed) that Ethan is getting himslef into a good night feeding/sleeping routine. Has been feeding at 10pm, 2am and 7am. So very happy with that.
He's still been constipated and I have found that if I miss giving him the sugar mix with more than one feed in a row it affects him. SO I guess I need to keep it up. I hope it fixes itself soon. But if it doesn't I might try a diff formula next tin and see how that goes.

    Hey ladies!

belfie - If I feel like it I'll go see what my levels are, but I'm generally really lazy, so I haven't been. We'll just have to wait until the 6wk GTT test to see if I have to keep testing or not. I really don't know which way things will turn out.
    How're you doin'??

Becci - Great to hear about the routine. Haydne has a routine goin' too. I'm hoping it kinda stays like this, since he sleeps for most of the night. Fingers crossed!!!

I can't believe my little man is 4weeks already.
    wowie.

    xoxo.

    Hey ladies,

Just a quick post from me. All going well here. Have had my insulin increased a couple of times, but not by much and BSL's are finally behaving themselves... getting lots of 6's now, so that's good. I finish work on Friday so busy week finishing up... but i'm SO glad i'm stopping earlier. Just got my nursery furniture (cot, chest of drawers, capsule, linen, hamper, bath etc) delivered today, so i'm sooooo excited! Can't wait to set it all up... but need to finish my work first!

Becci - great to hear the mastitis has improved, and such a fantastic routine already - well done!

Tennykins - 4 weeks already, gosh I'm sure it's going fast. Good luck for the 6 wk GTT too.

christinajayne - that's really interesting re the Sugar Balance. There seems to be a bit of conflict in the literature about the various versions of chromium (in particular, Chromium picolinate) and which ones are safe to take. There is some information out there that says that Chromium picolinate is not considered safe to take during PG. And like anything, who knows whether the nay- or yay-sayers are correct, but personally I wouldn't feel comfortable taking it, but then I might be being over-cautious . Plus, given I'm already on the insulin, I'm just going to stay that way.... I guess it comes down to personal choice. Otherwise, I hope all is going well with you, and good luck with getting your boy!

Hi to everyone else I missed.

    Hi ladies,

Hope you don't mind if i drop in. I haven't officially been diagnosed yet but my first test has come back with a high reading so have to go and have the 2 hour test now. I hope everything comes back normal. So have been reading your posts and feeling a bit more positive.

It is still scary as my biggest without GD was 9lb 12oz so really don't want to have this. Will keep you informed as I find out more. Keep your fingers crossed for me please.

    Hey KimB,

I replied to your other post - but good luck, I'm thinking of you. When do you do your GTT?

And for everyone else... hi I hope you're all having a great week.

    I'm now on MATERNITY LEAVE!!!!!
So exciting - I don't think it's sunk in yet (only finished tonight)! Plus I had a naughty dinner to celebrate (chicken & chips - NO salad/veggies) and got a 6.6 BSL ... tehehe woo hoo!!

    Cheers,
    Belfie.
