Welcome Kim!!!
yeah try not to stress about the bigger bubs things. Ds was 8lb 3oz at full term and I didn't have GD, and our new little man was 7lb 10oz induced at 38 weeks due to GD. And they were meansuring him to be about 9lb!
Please do keep us posted on you GTT.
Belfie - Woo Hoo!!! Yay maternity leave!! Excellent on the reading too. Hope everything is going great for you. Enjoy your time getting the bursery together.
Happy to announce we are now proud parents to a baby girl..
Chloe Elizabeth
DOB: 18 August 2008 at 4:22PM
Weight: 6lb 14oz (3.1kg)
Length: 53cm
I went into labour 5am on Monday morning, contractions 6 mins apart and lasting about a minute each, headed to hospital around 9.15am when they were about 4-5 minutes apart and stronger pain and gave birth 4:22pm. I was very happy with how things went. I had an epi which unfortunately was not 100% effective as I still had pains but otherwise couldn’t have asked for better birth.
Chloe spent the first night in nursery as her 2nd sugar level was low. All good now though and she is feeding well.
We came home today as I stayed an extra night and she sleeps a good 4-5 hours at a time between feeds since milk arrived.
Have done a few random BSL's which have been under 7.0 (One of them I tested 1 hr after cake and was 6.2) but because my diet is essentially not much different to the one I had during PG not sure how I can really test to see if the GD is gone. This is now my worry so trying not to stress so early on as it's another 6-12 weeks before my GTT. Has anyone who has delivered already found a way to give their levels a real "test" to see if GD is gone??
So glad all went well. A great size for a GD baby too!!!
Can't help you out with the levels. I took my day 4 levels and they were ok so I haven't tested since. Maybe I will after tea tonight just for interests sake.
I had baked beans on toast, a chocolate freddo frog, some yoghurt and a good dozen peach slices(more than 3 peache slices on my weet bix used to put my levels up) and when I tested I got 6.8..
My levels when i checked in hospitals were all ok but i wasn't strict on the exact 2 hours after eating as sometimes i was feeding bub or otherwise unable to test right on 2 hours. From memory anything under 8.0 in the GTT is considered ok?? can anyone confirm if that is right??
Seems that motherhood is putting less stress on me than the idea of GD remaining.. Having said that I also worry because I was on the verge of pre-eclampsia when I went into labour according to my blood results and when I arrived at hospital my BP was up however went down hence why they let me labour myself with no interference. They repeated my blood work during my hospital stay and OB said was all sorting itself out but worries me all the same. I'm not a huge sweet tooth so really my diet has not changed and the food I ate with GD is what I'd normally eat so I'm just really worried that my 2 hr GTT with the greatly increased sugar content compared to my normal diet is not going to go well..
I only had one really high level during GD which was a 9.4 in the very beginning so I'm wondering if I should repeat that meal and see if it does the same to me again. Was a sandwich with Low GI bread but go figure..
Snow Chickie - congrats on the borth of Chloe, she is a cutie and I love the name.
Belfie - enjoy your time off - glad everything is going well.
Kim B - hi and welcome, hope that your 2nd test gives you the all clear.
My news is that I had an endo appointment on Friday after the 6 week test and I got the all clear. I also got the usual lecture about not gaining weight as I was a high risk of getting type 2 as time goes by (as we have all heard from Ob's, DE's and everyone else!). So I am happy for the moment, and he said there isn't much I can do to prevent it next time, (as my weight is fine) it may or may not happen and it may or may not require insulin.
Thomas is still growing, and has started smiling a bit! Although still likes 3-4 hour feeds day and night - looking foward to him going a bit longer at night.
Becci and Tenny -Hi!! hope all is still going well for your bubs.
Congratulations, Snowchickie!
She's gorgeous.
I hope everything is going great with you all.
With me I have tested a few times to see what my levels are after I had certain foods.
I tested just under 2hrs after yesterdays breakfast and got a 5.0 so I was pleased with that, since what I ate would have put me right over before.
If I think about it (and am not too lazy) I'll see if chocolate and other stuff does badly for me.
Petals - Whoo hoo @ your 6 week results. That's great to hear! I hope mine come back alright, but if they don't then oh well. I hope your little fella sleeps longer for you.
Yay! cute smiles.
Belfie, Becci and the rest of you awesome ladies.
I'm starting to think about having the GTT test more now.
My checkup is next monday, so it's starting to worry me (I'm naturally a worrier) and I can't stop thinking how it'll turn out.
Tenny I'm sure you'll be fine.
My check up is not until 15th Sept so I'm sure I'll start worrying in a couple of weeks! lol
Does anyone know much about constipation in babies?
Ethan has been constipated since we got home. We tried brown sugar in water (recommended by midwife) for 2 weeks. Now he's been on Coloxyl for about a week. He seems to be a bit better. Not in so much pain, but his poos are still a little pebbly.
I have been wondering if it might be the formula. He has been on SMA, but I changed him today to the Guardian Pharmacy brand formula.
I'm sure it will all sort itself out but thought I'd ask while I was here.
Hope everyone is going great.
Great to hear from you Petals and WooHoo on the all clear!
