Belfie - not sure why it was 6 weeks. I think that was just hospital policy but I was naughty and ignored them and then went to my GP when I was ready to face it at 9 weeks. Didn't really expect to have anything wrong but oh well. That's awful about your fructose malabsorption. Sounds like you can barely eat anything normally ;-) so pregnancy must have made it especially hard! There's no way I'd do a GTT anywhere near xmas!!!
Snowchickie - nope no symptoms here of IGT but even with GD I never had sugar in my urine or any real symptoms really except of course the usual pregnancy ones. Then again i was pretty depressed after DD's birth so probably didn't notice anything. Although even after I was diagnosed, still didn't notice anything that would suggest I have it. The only risk factor I have is my grandfather had Type 2 diabetes. he only recently died of complications from it. But I'm not overweight and never have been, am young, have a pretty good diet anyway blah blah blah so who knows. Am just unlucky genetically I guess. With IGT I just have to eat like I do when i have GD to avoid diabetes. Not so bad really. I don't have to monitor or anything....oh and I have to have a GTT every 6 months. Don't stress too much about your follow up GTT. The way I see it is if you have it, you have it. Better to find out now, then when you've got diabetes or complications from it and there's not much you can do. Plus I've found during my monitoring that stress really increases my BSL's so maybe do some meditation or something the day before you go ;-) Good luck honey. You'll be fine. Do you have any HX of diabetes in your family? Crossing my fingers for you for Thursday
