    Getting Back to Basics

    Hi everyone,

After having an 'aha' moment in another thread, I've decided to get back to basics in terms of Meditation. I'm going to write about what I did here. If you have any questions please ask! I know there are different ways of doing this - I'm just going through my method.

As most of you are probably aware (given how much I have whinged about it ) I have had all sorts of problems with my health this year.

On Thursday night I went and had a look at my sick leave - and I noticed that in the years I was running a Meditation circle my sick leave was much less than what it has been lately.

So one of the first things I did on Friday was to go out into the sunlight and do a Meditation.

Oh boy was it hard to focus!!!

First thing I did was to bring the white light energy down, around and through me. This is where I had the most trouble. My brain kept on chattering off and coming up with silly things - including 'how about I write about this later in BB? What will I say?'

Finally I got myself to focus. I actually went through the discipline of tighting and relaxing each muscle group from my feet to my head.

Then I sent a hurricane of white energy through the whole house and backyard, and had a little one break off to clean my aura. Then I linked the little to the big and then sent the hurricane back out to the main street to dissipate.

Then I brought a gold cover over my house and backyard as protection.

Then I opened up each chakra with an affirmation to a Higher Power.

Then I brought in blue energy and went down to cell level. I sucked out all the gunk in my throat, ears, sinuses, nose, and lungs.

    Then I brought in pink.

Then I brought in gold and did a cutting of bonds exercise. Felt heaps better once I did that!

Then I sealed over the area where I had cut.

Then I sent all of the colours back into the light. I closed up my chakras, and sealed myself in gold energy.

I've done this for two days now, and I'm going to try to keep it up. I feel a lot better today - even DH noticed that I'm not coughing as much and my voice is returning to normal!

I've also changed my note near the avatar to reflect the affirmation I am using (must admit I was inspired by Punkin to do this!)

Does anyone else meditate on a daily basis? How do you do it (if its not too personal)

I've been trying to meditate regularly - but have only been doing a very basic 'watching my breath' one. Just simply breathe in for 4 counts, out for 8, hold for 4, then start again. Actually very calming and it's supposed to be very beneficial health-wise as well (learnt it at yoga - will have to look up the reference my yoga teacher gave me).

I've never been able to 'see' colours, or anything else when I meditate. But when we used to do visualisation meditations at yoga, I would just repeat what the yoga teacher was saying to myself and try to get the feeling of it happening IYKWIM?

That's really interesting reading about your technique, i do a very similar thing, starting with clearing and protection, and then bringing energy down into various chakras. Normally after that I'm in so deep that I'm no longer 'steering' the process, whatever happens happens after that point.

One difference that I do that you haven't mentioned which is really important is to finish by grounding your energy back in - really making sure you're in your body by planting your energy into the earth through your feet (check your consciousness is properly back inside your skull/body too).

Thanks so much for posting this, it's been a while since I meditated. I feel like a thirsty person who has just spotted a well!

    Mum3girls,

The breathing exercise you do sounds similar to mine - except I do it by 5s. 5 to breathe in, 5 to hold, 5 to breathe out.

    Marydean,

I just push excess energy through my feet - but might be a good idea to ground again, as I have when I've needed to in the past.

I suppose the 'steering' comes from the limited time I had to meditate, as well as knowing I really needed to do a cutting of bonds.

Sometimes I just let the meditation happen - generally when I have more time.

I think it was working, but I've had even more to deal with this week. I'll try and do a big one again sometime this weekend.

I know what you mean about being thirsty and drinking from a well - I have really missed doing this and it definitely helps.

I'm getting back into doing a chakra meditation morning and night (on my mp3 player) as I lay in bed.

I'm also spend 5 mins in the shower when I get home from work, just enjoying the water & feeling it washing away my stresses for the day. I have no water element in my chart so I have to physically connect with water.

I know I need to spend more time feeding my spiritual side - I realised that after the conference last weekend. I need balance back in my life

Great thread Gargy! And I love your postitive affirmations!

I meditate twice daily - it is essential to me as brushing my teeth. Only 20mins in the morning and a little longer at night.

I meditate by following my breath and I follow Buddhist meditations. I also focus on chakras sometimes too.

I have had amazing experiences in meditations - realisations - feelings and sensations. I feel clearer and happier when I practise.

Wishing you luck and peace on your meditation journey.

How does everyone go with dealing with children's needs or other distractions whilst meditating? I'm still working towards being able to stay in that meditative state whilst dealing with what needs to be done.

Flowerchild - Could you tell us a bit about the Buddhist meditations that you do? I've come across a Loving Kindness meditation CD that I'm looking forward to getting, and have developed an interest in Buddhism since reading Buddhism for Mothers a few years ago.

This is what I try to do on a daily basis, I usually do it when I am trying to get DS to sleep at some point in the day. Ironically I haven't done it in more than a week & the **** has hit the fan

I imagine the golden white light (gwl) coming down from heaven above, coming down, down, down & into mother earth (I visualise it going into the earth right next to my house). I then ask that the gwl to give mother earth the love & nourishment that she needs & deserves.... I then ask that the energy come into these four walls, my house & fill every nook & cranny & so as we breathe in we breath in the gwl & as we breath out we release any stress, pain & in with the gwl & out with any negativity, jealousy, & in with gwl until the exchange of energies means I filled from my head to my toes full of gwl & we become shiny beacons of gwl. Thus we walk with the light, then in the light & we are now the light. Because the light is an ever moving light I ask that it goes onto my family & dp's family & that they keep it going as well. I ask the gwl for love & protection & anything negative has no permission to be here & must go to the ether where it can hurt nothing & no-one. I thank the gwl for this day & my breath. I ask my guides & angels for love, protection, healing & guidance, I thank my angels & guides for today & my breath, on behalf of ds I ask ds's higher self permission to ask that his guides & angels love, protect & heal him always & be part of his lives. On behalf of dp I ask his higherself permission to ask his angels & guides love, protect, heal & guide him with the highest intention.

I will have to start doing this again I think.

If I am in a bad situation I always send a little prayer to my angels & guides for help & guidance with this situation.
