    My parasite has a heartbeat!

It's one of those silly, flippant comments that seems to stick around...

One of my senior classes noticed two weeks ago that I really wasn't myself, was exceptionally tired and didn't look at all well... I told them that there was a parasite zapping my energy and turning my brain to mush...

Well, yesterday we discovered that said parasite has a heartbeat!

It has taken a long time to must the courage to post this announcement, but it appears that the IVF cycle that was looking to be a disaster has turned out ok in the end. Eggs were collected on the 25th of April, we expected to transfer on the 30th of April, but had to bring it forward to the 28th as we had extremely low embryo numbers this time. Fortunately, no OHSS so we got to have a fresh transfer for the first time ever.

On the 8th of May I used a HPT and got a very dark and obvious line. On the 9th of May the clinic confirmed with a blood test - and they still won't give me the numbers from it, just told me they were nice and high. Then began another anxious wait... and yesterday we got to see our parasite blinking away at us on our first scan - measuring exact to 6 weeks and 3 days, an amazing relief!

The parasite is due to enter the world on the 16th of January 2009... and hopefully something slightly less strange than "the parasite" will have stuck as a name before then!

Meanwhile, I'm past the point of my last two losses, but not the first, so many prayers for a very persistent parasitic infection are needed!

Thanks for all the support through three stim cycles, four FET cycles, three miscarriages, and what appears to have been a hell of a long time waiting!

OK - so we have it - the only vaguely cute name is WORM.

Wormie for short (yes - I know it is longer but give a girl a break!)

Any other suggestions gratefully accepted on BW's behalf
