Thats awesome Misty! I just wanted to mention too that custard is Low GI and so I had it as my little treat. I used to just buy the tubs of 6 (for portion control ) and they are a great little snack to have if you feel like something sweet after dinner.
hehe... just don't do my trick of having all 6 tubs!
I try not to keep treats in the house. Because if they are here I eat them. But when I want a treat I go out and buy it when I want it, and I will generally onlly buy things in individual serves (and if it comes with more then one serve, give the other serves to either my kids or my DH so there is nothing left for me to have seconds).

    Hello everyone,

How are you all travelling so far?
I had another good day food wise yesterday. I probably would have caved truth be told. My DS2 is unwell and has been sooky and whingy and cuddly, and he kept both me and my DH up all last night - times like that all I want to do is eat sweet sugary foods. Thankfully there was nothing in the house for me to consume, and my DH had the car all day so I couldn't go out and get anything. I am a big emotional eater, and stress is my archilles heel - when I reash my limit looking after the kids, I usually find that is when I loose control of myself in regards to food. I do have to confess though, that I did at one point get so desprate that I had a spoonful of icing sugar. I put the spoon down and the icing sugar back in the cupboard then, and I made sure I wrote it down in my food diary too. But other then that I managed to stick to healthy foods within my daily allowance. So I am pretty pleased overall.

I hope everyone else is going well.

I wasn't great yesterday - I had my good breakfast (oats) but then was getting hungry and m/s was creeping up, and at 11am when morning tea was put out, it was home made sausage rolls ... so I at two slices with tomato sauce.

and it made me feel a little better and less nauseous. so I had another 2 slices...

and then I couldn't eat my lunch!

but dinner was healthy, and supper (we have Bible study on Tuesday nights) was rice crackers with hommus and capsicum dip, so that wasn't too bad.

I haven't had anything to eat or drink today yet, so instead of feeling headachey and nauseous, I need to go and eat something. Something healthy.

    bye!

i am like you as my DH times for work and babysitters are hard to work around. i have been trying harder for about the last 4 weeks with walking to meet my older son from the bus after school with the two other boys. it takes 30 mins rtn trip and i try to do this 3 times a week although it has been freezing cold in tassie and somedays i just can't do it. like today. lol

i have been cutting out junk and lowering sugar intake but i have still gained 4 kg an i am only 15 weeks.

JBM - your doctor is an idiot. He would have copped a mouthful from me for saying anything like that. One of the things I have found best to managed weight whilst pregnant, is not to just cut out junk food etc, but to make sure I am eating all the different food groups. A pregnant woman from her second trimester should be consuming:
    3-5 serves fruit
    6-8 serves of vege
    3-4 serves of dairy
    2 serves of protien
carbohydates at every meal (equivilant to approx 5 serves over the cour of the day - preferably complex carbs, so the grainier the better)
2 teaspoons of a healthy oil each day (ie, olive oil, flaxseed oil, sunflower oil, etc)
    8 glasses of water

I find that by the time I have consumed all these things (especially fruit and vege which I use as snacks and to bulk up every meal) I am so full that I naturally don't tend to eat junk food as much, or overeat on the other foods (such as carbs).

Peannutter - it is hard when you are feeling nausea. Sometimes all you can do is eat anything to try and keep the feeling at bay.

Well, I went a little off track yesterday. OK, so I had a complete blow out. I took the kids to the movies to see cars2 last night with DH before he dissapears with army for a couple of weeks. I didn't buy anything for myself to snack on, and I didn't intend on mindless munching - but I still managed to eat my way the most of a pack of starburst rattlesnakes and a big packet of twisties. sigh. At least I was so good the rest of the day prior to this and only had a salad for dinner. But I actually felt a little ill for eating so much junk food all at once.

But today is a new day.

    misty:
thanks. i need some support about my weight at the moment. i am now 93 kg but i am 176cm tall. not sure what that is in feet and inches, but i am rather tall
junk fatty food is not really a problem for me but a little choc and lollies and just prob eating lots of little snacks to stop me from feeling sick.

i am writing down everything i am eating, wearing my pedometer every day, goal of min 6000 steps. i did the 30 min walk yesterday even though it was freezing, i rugged the kids up and they like to get some fresh air. actually we ALL sleep better on the days i can do it. ;-) lol

i am seeing my naturopath today for some acupuncture and i am going to see what she thinks also. i am prob not eating enough fruit each day, only one serve maybe two, but lots of vegies and tomato. i am really wanting tomato a lot !!!!!!!!

JBM - (OK so I had a big debate with myself as to whether I can actually bare to share my stats on here - it is scarey telling people your weight! But here goes nothing!) I last weighed in at the hospital at 93.6kgs! I am only 168cms tall though. Terrifying. When I first weighed in at the doctors at about 13 weeks I was 78kgs. (which was about 10kgs heavier then I was before I started TTC). The top of my healthy BMI is 71kgs - so I amm a fair distance from there. I head into the "morbidly obese" catagory at 98.8kg. (although, I try to remind myself that it doesn't mean the same thing when you are heavily pregnant as when you are not - it is still a scarey thought, plus it means my hospital will no longer take me as a patient and will transfer me to a different hospital).

It sounds like you are on the right track with everything. I used to love my pedometer - unfortunately I barely walk 3000 steps a day whilst pregnant, because it starts to ache too much.

Vegies are always better then fruits (less sugars) so if you are eating more serves of vege I wouldn't worry too much about not eating enough fruit.

I too really don't like fessing up to the numbers. And loathe getting on the scales at the doctors, as my weight has a lot to do with some horrible stuff I went through a few years ago and still struggle with on occasion.

But here goes - height is 177cm, weight is 134kg. I am working on generally being more active and healthy, and have seen a few small losses as a result, which gives me hope. Once this baby is born I am going to be a lot more proactive with improving my health.

So far I've been eating pretty well, my big problem is lunch at work - there's very few healthy options around here.

    Hi girls,

Has been great reading through some of your posts, just for general support and not feeling so alone.

My stats, it is scary. I was 103 when I fell pregnant this time, this is by far my heaviest, was only 88 when I fell pregnant with my 2nd, and about 93kg with my 3rd, I'm about 165cms tallk. I had been going really well hadn't gained any weight until the last 4 weeks, I guess my appetite has returned, plus I have had sick children, my birthday, my DH birthday and then my son's birthday so there has been crap food in the house lollies etc. I think I just really need to get back into having good food in the house. I also don't drink nearly enough water, must try and improve on that.

Cranky Kitten, I'm like you with lunch at work, I just don't pack a lunch and with sandwiches being out due to ham, processed chicken etc it makes it really hard.

Right Tuesday is D Day I'm going to try and get back on track and not gain anymore weight, I have gained about 4 kg recently so might try to keep it at that or drop a couple.

CK - Do you take your lunch with you to work. My DH finds that this is the best way to control what he is eating. Either DH or myself prepare his work lunch for him the night before. Often it is leftovers from dinner, or salads with bread rolls etc. He always keeps a few things at work too, just in case he forgets - ie, baked beans, tuna, tin soup. Occaisionally we will pick up the prepackaged salads from Woolies as well (they have a pretty decent chicken cesear salad which is very low in kjs), or worst comes to worst MacDonalds have salads too. But if you are going to MacDonalds, then you need to be very careful to decide what you are getting before you get there and stick with it. They do have some good salads (I like the Seared chicken cesear salad WITHOUT bacon bits), and be very wary of the dressing you choose. The french dressing and a few of the others are very good choices, but the Cesear dressing is very unhealthy and high in kjs - rule of thumb is to stay away from the creamy dressings.

For fessing up your stats. It is hard isn't it. (tell you a 'not so' secret - I actually work for Weight Watchers, so it is doubly embarrassing for me to admit how far I have let myself go. When I first joined WW as a member I weighed over 100kgs, and worked very hard to loose all that weight; but it is like a revolving door, everytime I fall pregnant I find myself having to reloose it all again. At least this is my last baby, so my challenge after bubs is born and I loose the weight again, will be to actually keep it off - much harder then loosing it IMHO).

Both DH and I work full time, we do often take our lunch with us, but some days we're just too busy, tired, whatever - and those are the days I tend to wind up buying lunch. Most days though it's not so bad stuff, a sandwich or roll, or something from the japanese place over the road.

I find the biggest thing I've had to learn to do is to stock up on snacks in my desk drawer so I have stuff to nibble on rather than answering the call of the vending machine - I'm constantly hungry at the moment and wholegrain ryvita with a little cream cheese and tomato or so forth is far better than a packet of chips

Completely get the constant hunger. It is really strange too, when I have no room left in my stomach for anything (because bubs is taking up all the room), but I am still feeling starving.

Megs - it can be hard staying on track when you have all the other foods in the house: life has this habit of getting in the way sometimes doesn't it.

I haven't touched it yet. But am so tempted. I had a big drink and a nice crunchy carrot instead. And I think I might go have a bath, so that I cann't go and get any.

Misty! Beware! I licked the icecream.

    So did my dogs.

    And DH farted on it.

And rubbed all the spoons on his armpit.

    So you shouldn't eat it.

    ROFLMAO!

Lucky I didn't eat it then.
I had a bath and went to bed instead.

CK - you have a Bananna?!?!???! You must be RICH!!!!! Seriously, I went to buy myself one the other day, it cost me $4.30 for one bananna!!

Glad I stuck in there yesterday. Seriously proud of myself. I seriously wonder if most skinny people really understand just how hard it can be to say 'no' to indulging in those tempting foods? Maybe they do; but they sure make it look easy.

    How is everyone else going?
