thanks to you all for your congrats on the house. i just popped over this afternoon to meet the building inspector there and it is even nicer that i remember!! i am SO excited - we will be so happy there!! it's a perfect house for a child!! there's lots of room for them to scoot around in a baby walker, and lots of room for a playpen, toys, etc. there are heaps more bedrooms than we need, so the baby can have a playroom as well as a bedroom once they grow up a bit... ooh, it's such an exciting time!!

Relle - congrats on another boy! at least you know that you make lovely boys, so there is nothing to fear!!

Nox - congrats on the healthy ultrasound! i'm booked in for my 12-week scan on the 13th March, and am so excited about it!! will be nice for DH too!

Kirsten - glad to hear that yourself and Quinn are doing well and enjoying your time together. even if someone does pop in to visit, i think it's quite acceptable for a new mum to be hanging out in a dressing gown!!Quinn is a gorgeous name by the way!!

well, Dennis was lovely as expected! nothing very eventful happened of course - just took my blood pressure and poked my tummy a bit. and chatted about any worries or concerns i may have. it was a bit like a shrink appointment actually (well, not that i've ever been to one, but how i imagine a good one would be!). he told me not to get too worried about all of the hype surrounding what to eat and what not to, and that a glass of wine wasn't the end of the world (hooray!)... very down-to-earth and non sensational... perfect. i rabbitted on for ages and didn't feel like i was being rushed at all...
when i went across to the ultrasound place it wasn't so good. the lady wasn't very nice, and she asked what time i would like the appointment for. i said "as early in the morning as possible so that my husband can come". she said that the earliest she could do was 3:45pm!! WTF?!! i mean, i wasn't fussy what day... surely there would have been something that week earlier than 3:45pm!! anyway, if there isn't, fair enough, it's only 4 weeks away, and i'll take whatever i can get. but what upset me was that i asked if i could book in for my 19-week scan now so that i don't face the same problem again (ie. if i get in early then i'll be able to get a time early in the morning when my DH can come). she said "no, you can't book your 19-week scan until you've had your 12-week scan"... i asked twice, and she was adament that i couldn't book in yet. i don't think i was being unreasonable!!

Ella, that is fantastic that your appointment went well and that you were happy with Dennis. He is very non fuss, laid back and reassuring all at the same time! LOL

The scan place can be a bit of a pain, they are always so busy and don't bend the rules for anyone ( unless there is an emergency)

I booked my 19 week at the 12 week, but didn't even think to ask earlier than that. The only other thing is be prepared for possibly a long wait. Linda knows this though, and if your appt is straight after they will be fully expecting you to be late to see Dennis ( this used to stress me in the beginning, but Linda and Dennis fully expect it)

That is awesome news about your new house! How wonderful that it is even better than you remember - way to go!

I have had builders in here for the last 4 weeks and today has been the noisest yet, I have a cherry picker out the front of my lounge room window, going all day while a concrete cutter has come in to cut a new window. We have turned our 2 bedroom house into a 3 bedroom house, but no extra space! We had one really really large bedroom and have basically split it in 2! So I am over the mess, over the noise and over having to keep 2 very active kids out of the way!

I was moving some furniture earlier and forgot that I was pregnant and tried to fit through a door sideways with a drawer and got stuck when my belly wouldn't move out fo the way! LOL It did hurt a bit though, so I guess I had better not try that one again!

An update with my exam - I did not get any feedback from the exam so I emailed to ask how I went and I got an email back saying that the outsourced company that deals with them has had problems and that they are getting replaced and to re sit the exam in a few days - how frustrating!!!!!

Ella - house sounds lovely. Toy room is a great idea, we have one here and its nice to keep things in one area (away from the rest of the house). Great to hear your appointment went well. Not so good about the ultrasound place. That was one of the reasons I moved to the other ultrasound centre in Clayton and because the women who did my ultrasound wasn't very friendly either and didn't say much. The other place are brilliant and very accomodating, they share the some office as Dennis and some other OB's but Dennis is only there on Wednesdays. They are also obstetric sonographers (the one you went to are only sonographers) and can tell you alot more information about the ultrasound as they are qualified to do so. Just a thought if you were interested in going somewhere else. Dennis was actually the OB for my sonographers wife, which showed a great endorsement for Dennis again!

Relle - you must be going crazy with all that work going on! You poor thing. It must be hard to get the kids to sleep during the day with all that noise. How much longer will it be going on? No more moving furniture for you young lady!!! Bit annoying for you about the exam. Let us know what happens.

thanks for that advice Mel, i might actually give them a call and see if i can arrange to have it done it Clayton then - i like the sound of specialist obstetric sonographers, and also, i can drag my DH to the Baby Gallery in Clayton after the appointment (i love that place!)... if they're not as busy, then i may also be able to get an appointment earlier in the day...

am i allowed to switch between the Malvern and Clayton offices for different appointments though, or does Dennis need all my paperwork in the one place?

Relle, i think remember reading in another thread some time ago that you were incorrectly told the sex of one of your baby's (ie. told you were having a girl, but turned out to be a boy) - was this misinformation from one of the Malvern sonographers?
oh dear, i don't envy you at all trying to keep your kids out of the way of the builders!! and LOL at your belly getting stuck in the doorway... he he he!
