One of my cats was like that during my pregnancy, and now he is wonderful with the baby - Pip grabs his fur and twists it quite painfully, and the cat just sits there! So I'm more than happy with my cat. He also now sleeps on the chair next to the cot - he stays out of the cot (thanks to netting) but just wants to be near the baby.
