    Plus Sized Pregnancy

Hey ladies, looks like our thread disappeared so here is a new one :-)

My "B" belly is getting firmer, and I can see a difference, although strangers will still see one too many donuts... or maybe that's one too many dozen donuts

I feel super lazy this week, like I've gotten nothing done this week, I so wish I was still in work so that I feel like I've actually accomplished something.

I'm on the look out at the moment for some plus sized swim wear as I'm going to start doing Aqua aerobics, twice a week, but I can't believe the prices of togs over here, they were much cheaper back in NZ.

Anyway ladies, how about we all put some stats together including due date, baby's nick name (if you have one), sex of baby (or if your not finding out)

    Hehe, I'll join in too
Due around 20th Jan 2011. Boy.
My bump is rather pronounced (have some pics on FB if anyone wants to see- Kellie Coleman Slade), enough that people think I'm ready to pop. I've had a few 'Oh you still have that long to go??' comments and similar. Some people just have absolutely no manners or sensitivity!

Hey ladies, just wondering what size you have to be to join this group??? I am a size 16 normally and that usually puts me in the plus size category everywhere else (ie shops). I can put on up to 30kgs when pg though I have been told that for my height (5'5") that I am obese at 84kg. I certainly don't feel obese just more cuddly than others Hope it ok if I join

I'm due the 15th March No nickname and yes we will be finding out

Of course you can be including in our little group :-) What's your stats and I'll add you to the first post.

Ladies how often are your purchasing new bras? in my last two pregnancies my ( . )( . )'s haven't grown... did my measurements two weeks ago and then again today and I've gone up a cup size and not really sure if I should head and and do the horrid bra shopping or not, the band size has stayed the same but the cup size has increased... should I just wear my bra's with "stretchy" cups?

Hi everyone! I fit in here too! I'm a 16 average height but massive boobs. A 12H after my last pregnancy (was a 16 e before that) and they just seem to be getting bigger!! I'm seriously considering surgery after I'm done with babies!
I'm due April 19 and will be finding out!
Where is a good place to get maternity swimmers? We'll be going away at Chrissy and think I'll need them.

    Hi everyone

I've only just re-found this thread. How's everyone doing?

Okay, so I'm Kate, baby has been nicknamed Cupcake and she's a girl due Jan 18

On the growing (.)(.) thing I've gone from a 16DD to an 18E and still growing. I bought a couple of stretchy mat bras on sale in Myer but I'm holding out as long as possible for more because I'm slightly horrified at how much bigger sized maternity bras cost and the cheaper ones in Kmart etc just don't fit properly.

If we're doing facebook adds I'm Kate Buckland - the picture is a headshot of me looking at the camera showing off my shorter new haircut. Got bump pics etc up on there and would love to 'friend' anyone who's keen!

Juniper76 - I hear ya on the maternity clothes issue! What perplexes me even more that the bigger sizes (when you CAN) get them don't seem to add more room in the bust... what's with that? Half the time I end up looking like I'm swimming in my clothes but with huge barely-staying-in boobs! There is a company online that sells maternity clothes that start at a size 18 and they're pretty comfy. If you google Plus Maternity you should find them.

Incidentally, is anyone in Melbourne? Later this month there is going to be a "Girls Night In" fashion show in Berwick featuring sizes from 16 all the way up and they're including maternity! Eeeek! If you want details look me up on fb or PM me, but it's definitely going to be a great night!

Hi Yarrawin, cupcake is due a fwe days before my heffalump!
I have no idea what size bra I need now. My boobs have been growing and filling out again the past couple of weeks. The had....'deflated'....in the past few months since DS weaned. But they are looking nice and perky again! My bras are still fitting mostly, except for some of the smaller ones. But thats probably only because they're sooo old! Like you Yarrawin, I am reluctant to get the larger sizes because of the price. Besides that I will need to try some on and at the moment I can't get to a store to do that!
The fashion show sounds great, if I were close by I would have loved to go! But I'm in outback NSW!

I am feeling a bit heavy and huge at the moment. Getting a definate waddle on me too, lol! My legs are rather achey and my feet get pretty sore when I do alot. I guess that's the joys of being pg tho isn't it!

    Hope everyone is doing well.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. In the fashion world anything from size 12 is plus size, whereas on the street it generally seems to be size 16+.

Its not something I've given a great deal of thought to be honest, because at the end of the day my body is what it is!

Good luck! A! I'm sure everything will be great! I have mine in4 weeks. Can't wait. I have decided to switch from my ob to the public hossy. The 3k min out of pocket expenses just are not possible right now. I'm wondering if anyone has had any dramas with hossy and bmi's? I think I am overweight not obese. When does it become a problem ?

Thanks hun I think it depends on their bmi limit and whether your in that limit. Another hospital wouldn't take me because of my bmi so I had no choice where to go.

I know what you mean re the bras! Myer doesn't do maternity clothes either They did but they stopped... about a month before I needed maternity clothes! I swear maternity clothes are getting harder and harder to get.

Ahurani, FX for a perfect scan today!

ezymay, your best option is to call your chosen hospital and ask for their policy. I've heard of women being turned away from some hospitals because their BMI was too high, but I don't know what limits they exceeded. I knew that the two biggest hospitals in Brisbane (1 public, 1 private/public) would take me no matter what weight I was, so part of the reason I picked one of them was to avoid embarrassment (among other reasons). I'd be guessing you may start to have problems once you reach a BMI of 35, but that's just a guess. I know that the info I received from my hospital said that some facilities (eg the bath in the birthing suite) cannot be used if your BMI exceeds 35. My BMI is currently 33, so I'm hoping I don't gain too much in the last trimester (currently 15kg below my pre-pg weight, so doing ok so far).

Oh and i love how you find out you are this massive bra size but where on earth can you actually bye that size!!
Jaki, there's a store in Brisbane which specialises in big sizes. I've found them very helpful whenever I've dealt with them. I'l be going there to get measured up and they'll order in what they think will fit. If it doesn't fit when it arrives in stock then I'm not obliged to buy it. I realise you're not in Brisbane, but they do mail order and I'd hope their helpfulness extends to their mail order clients. Check out brastogo.com.au. I gave up on buying bras anywhere else once I hit an E cup a few years ago...
