I had a few glasses (one on each occasion) of champagne over the course of my pregnancy, only if it was Moet or Bollinger though!
With the getting blind then finding out youre pregnant thing, it is so, so, so common, I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that in the first trimester the embryo is basically self contained and self sufficient, it feeds off the yolk sac until the placenta grows and kicks in (takes over) at around 10-12 weeks...which is why there isn't too many stories of women with FAS babies because they got smashed once before they knew.
