    Panadol is it safe?

Hi everyone just need some clarrification how safe is it to take panadol. I have been getting shocking headaches for the last cole of weeks and if I dont take 2 panadol they get worse and worse and are really debilitating. I have one right now and just feel awful but am scared that Ive been taking 2 panadols every second day is too much and will hurt my baby. I try and wait till night time o take them if I need them but im still worried im doing the wrong thing. I cant sleep off a headache it just gets worse what can I do to help them go away without panadol???.

    hey hun,

i have been getting pretty bad headaches too. I really put taking panadol off till i cant take it any more - but my doc has told me it is safe.

Personally though i dont wantt o be taking them every day, id rather unpaid leave if it gets taht bad.

Very interested to see what you come up with....

(ps - a friend of mine had such bad headached that she was taking panadeine for basically teh second half of her pregnancy - i dont know how true it is, but her doc tol her this was perfectly safe! i kept my mouth shut. Interested in what any of the professional shere have to say!)

I take panadol when I need to. I had a horrible toothache and infection during 2nd tri and i had to take panadol every four hours for two days. Dr said it was safe, as paracetamol is very safe during pregnancy, just don't go over the recommended dose.

How much water do you drink each day? Do you take vitamin supplements? Are you eating fresh fruit/vege each day and are you getting enough sleep? If I don't drink at least 2L of water a day, eat fresh vege/fruit at least once a day, and don't sleep enough I get killer headaches. It's never really been like that, only since being pregnant. Also, i find if I don't take my vitamin supplements regularly I get really yucky, nauseated, and run down, which usually leads to a headache. It's usually got most to do with bub taking everything out of us and leaving us with nothing (nice huh!). Make sure you're looking after yourself and take it easy!

As far as I'm aware, Panadol is totally safe to take. Too high a dose will place a lot of pressure on your liver, but if you stay within the correct doseage you should be fine.
Have you spoken to anyone about what's causing those headaches? Like Alisia said, they can be due to dehydration or tiredness. Perhaps tension as well? Sometimes tension headaches can feel like a band tightening around your forehead, sometimes around the back as well and can radiate down your neck and into your shoulders. You could try massaging your shoulders to see if that relieves some of the pain, but don't use too much pressure, particularly in the middle of your shoulder.
You may benefit from seeing a remedial massage therapist (who is trained in pregnancy massage) if you find it is caused by tension. Are you stressed at the moment? Are you aware of your posture when you're working, particularly at the computer?
It might be a good idea to get your blood pressure checked too... And generally just get looked after You deserve it! Take care and I hope you get some relief soon.

I agree that panadol is safe to take. And, if your headaches are caused by tension in your neck/shoulders (like mine are) you can take Mersyndol (day strength) also because its a muscle relaxant as well and works much better. I think last pregnancy I lived on these because my back was so sore...

Oh, and my doc said that panadeine is safe to take - with the exception being the last trimester. Apparently can't take it then

I took panadol for my tail bone pain, the doctor & ob said that was the only thing I could take along with a nice long rest.

I tried not to take it & stopped as soon as I could sit down without being in agony, so taking it a few times I'm sure wont hurt.

I know ppl who have had panadeine, I had to take it with one of my previous m/c due to a back spasm & my sister in law took antiboitics & panadeine in this PG for sinuses.

    Hope it helps

I am getting over the flu and my OB said to take panadol as required, to help keep down the fever. So I am cool with taking it.

You could call Mothersafe and ask them if you are too concerned.

Panadol is safe however if your getting bad headaches try drinking alot more water, i used to get headaches and it was cause i didnt drink enough water (doc says to double your water intake 16glasses a day) when ur preg, i personally can't do 16 glasses but whatever you can do. Headaches could also be related to tension or stress, so try a massage, my neck has been sore for the last couple of weeks (mind you i have a head cold and have done for the past 3 weeks) so im booked in for a pamper package at endota to relax and relieve some tension (just make sure you tell them your preg cause there is some oils they cant use, also make sure they have given preg massages b4, if ur in melb there is a place called baby central i think in dande that specialise in preg massages, havent been there myself but they specialise in preg so they prob more qualified than anyone else)
Good luck and i hope you feel better

I have suffered from severe migraines since I was at least 5 years old my neurologist told me I shouldn't get headaches whilst pregnant and I've had about 5 bad migraines in the last 18 weeks. At first I didn't take anything when a headache came on which in turn lead to a migraine but my dr said it was ok to take one panadol and drink lots of water and if within an hour nothing happened take another so now when I get a headache probably about 4 to 5 times a month this is what I do and 9 times out of 10 it goes away.
