You poor bugger. I got them pretty bad after labour. My best advice is to use the bottom cream from the chemist that has a local anaesthetic in it - but even though it is tempting - do not use it before going to the toilet as the pain is there to stop you pushing too hard and you may actually keep doing damage, so use it afterwards to help soothe. Secondly - I don't recommed using a dietary fibre (eg metamucil) as I found it really bulked up my poo (I know TMI right?) which made it hurt like OMG! So eat lots and lots of fruit and drink lots and lots of water. It doesn't seem to bulk it up but more make it soft.
The best position physically to do a no. 2 is to lift up your feet a bit so your knees are a bit higher than your thighs and lean forward. Take a book in so you aren't in a hurry in there and massaging your belly in a clockwise direction can help move things along.
Anyway I hope this helps. I feel your pain.
Shhhhhh Michael - we don't want everyone to know!!!
I got them too after DD3 and am dealing with them again after DD4.
The best thing I've found is a cream called proctofoam, which I needed a prescription for. Makes everything feel MUCH better!
And, as the PP have mentioned, witch hazel, fibre, fruit, and WATER. Oh, and avoid narcotic pain relief during and after delivery - that stuff will plug you up.
