I'm reading The Brave by Nicholas Evans

I'm only a couple of chapters in but I'm hooked. It jumps around time wise - from when the main character was a boy, to when he was an adult and there are other characters too that have the same thing happen. It was a bit offputting to start when the two main characters are Tom and Diane, the same names of two main characters in his book The Horse Whisperer, but they aren't the same people. It's about a man who's estranged son has been charged with murder for killing innocent civilians while on duty with the marines in Iraq. It brings up Tom's own demons - the book starts with him saying goodbye to his mother as she waits in death row. It hasn't come together yet, but I'm enjoying it.
