Love in the driest season is a beautiful book. It's about and American Journo and his wife trying to adopt a baby from South Africa. Some sad bits, a great read still.

A woman of independence by Kirsty Sword Gusmao. How she and Xanana Gusmao came together, this was a fascinating.

I'm reading The Brave by Nicholas Evans

I'm only a couple of chapters in but I'm hooked. It jumps around time wise - from when the main character was a boy, to when he was an adult and there are other characters too that have the same thing happen. It was a bit offputting to start when the two main characters are Tom and Diane, the same names of two main characters in his book The Horse Whisperer, but they aren't the same people. It's about a man who's estranged son has been charged with murder for killing innocent civilians while on duty with the marines in Iraq. It brings up Tom's own demons - the book starts with him saying goodbye to his mother as she waits in death row. It hasn't come together yet, but I'm enjoying it.

i'm re-reading cloudstreet. we've taped the tv series but i want to re-read the book first because it's been a few years. i've only just started it. it's not my favourite tim winton but i did enjoy it the first time round.

I loved Cloud Street, the tele movie has me intrigued.

I am reading When God was a Rabbit. This book is just brilliant, it's had me giggling and holding back tears on the train, much to the amusement of the commuters I am sure

I read a book a few years ago called "Life is Good". About an African American man who learns to read when he's I think about 90. Goes through his life and what he has overcome. Truly brilliant book if you like real life, beat the odds kind of stuff.

I've just finished The Brave too. Was a good read - very hard to put down. Am now reading Island Beneath the Sea by Isabelle Allende. About Haiti under French rule from the perspective of a slave girl.

ive started reading again,
currently reading The b!tch in the house. from memory it isb 26 women telling there stories on life, sex, love and relationships.
so far its been prety good. a nice change from my usual horror/true crime.

I am just about to finish Friendship Bread. I had to stop reading on the train the other day as I was trying my hardest not to cry
It's such a beautiful book about loss, love and reconciliation in a little town in the US. The title comes from a bread called Amish Friendship Bread, you are given a zip lock bag of dough and divide and make something with your bit and give the other portions to a friend.

I'm about halfway through "Catcher in the Rye"... classic teen angst. I like it, but... I don't know. I just can't get into it at the moment, I've put it down for now. Might pick it up again when I'm feeling depressed.

I am a few chapters into "A Tiny Bit Marvelous" By Dawn French and I am loving it! Very funny. Journal entry-ish, each chapter swaps between Mum, her (so far) horrid teen daughter, and 16 y/o son who thinks he's Oscar Wilde (his bit is just fantastic, so funny).

Next two books on my "to read" list are: Frankenstein (Mary Shelley) and The Children's Book (A.S Byatt). Both quite wordy books, just not feeling the concentration at the moment... I get two sentences in and my brain goes kablammo.

Well I am reading something very light I have finished The Carrie Diaries and now onto The Carries Diaries Summer in New York.
I have never watched Sex and the City. This is about Carrie at High School and the Summer in New York is the follow up after High School and about how she met Miranda and Co. It's light reading..I am enjoying it.

I just finished "A Tiny bit Marvelous" and it fell flat a bit bummed. Still some chortle moments, quite a funny light read. I was hoping for a little more though.

Now to start on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.... wish me well, I'm assuming its scary

I haven't read anything other than parenting books and self-help/anxiety books for a long time and picked up The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver the other day. Have read it before but loved it - anyone else read it??? It's about a Baptist family that go to the Congo in the 50's to preach to the natives! Intriguing story and the way it is written is great.

I also recently read One Thousand Gifts - it is a Christian book that is all about changing you life by being thankful. Really great read but took me a while to get into it. It made me start a new blog though so must have had an impact!

I am a re-reader too - I will quite happily re-read books 4,5 6 + times if I love it! I have read the HP series through about 5 times from start to finish!

I love the Poisonwood Bible, it's one of my all time favourites!!

If you are looking for fact based, I can highly recommend Jesus Freaks. It's an amazing read about the Children of God/The Family International. This is about Ricky "Davidito" Rodgriuez who was to be the next chosen one and Son of David "Moses" Berg the leader of this Religious Cult. In January 2005 a woman was found stabbed three times with her throat slit by a young man....it's the lead up to this.
