Isn't it strassburg like a mild salami?

Fritz is devon or luncheon meat.

Choc Hail bread I'm guessing is the same as fairy bread, but you use choc sprinkles?

Strass to me is more like Devon than salami, it is a highly processed luncheon meat. Maybe like mortadella?

    ETA
    From the Food standards site:
    Strassburg
Description: A cooked and smoked processed meat, commonly containing pork, beef, starch, salt, cereal, sugar, spices, flavour, sodium nitrite/nitrate, preservatives, water.

    Salami
Description: Processed fermented meat, served in circular slices. Commonly contains pork, beef, salt, spices, sugar and sodium nitrate/sodium nitrite.
So the main difference seems to be the addition of grains and the method of production

Aw that was cute, I guess I never thought as fairy bread being an Australian "dish", which made me want to laugh too.

We have fairy bread in NZ too...but then we do seem to share a number of "dishes" and fight over their origin!

I am surprised that the teacher hadn't heard of it before, especially with the number of NZers and Australians living in the UK now.

thanks for sharing that Sarah! how funny that people asked for the recipe and were so amazed at it lol. fairy bread is a staple in my house, Archie calls it "pretty pretty", i always makes sure i have sprinkles onhand, dont like the 100's and 1000's though, they hurt my teeth.

Awesome! I love fairy bread, such a good easy snack (up there with cinnamon toast, which is toast with cinnamon sugar, in case anyone doesn't know - and this thread is teaching me not to assume people know what everything is! ).

Chocolate hail (sprinkles) bread - I definitely had this more as a kid, my dutch family insist chocolate hail is a dutch thing...who knows.

And yeah we call strassburg something different to the SA'ers. Grew up on that too - strass and steak sauce sandwiches. Mmm.

And I got such a giggle out of Happy Birthday Bread Chlo... That's so awesome.
