    Roasts - do you?

    YUM - Roasts!
I like the idea of Sunday Roasts but we often are doing something on Sundays so dont have them. We probably have a roast (with meat) about every 4 -8 weeks. If its chicken I do it, if its red meat DH does it.
    What about you?

We have about one roast a week - and DH never does it!!

I prefer pork, but I have on occasion made beef or lamb. Sometimes I do roast veg, other times its steamed. I always make sure I do a dessert for afterwards, even if its just jelly and icecream!

I just had an epiphany reading that (well sort of ), I think from now on I need to do deserts to follow the roast too! It makes it more special, even if its just jelly and icecream! Fun for the kids.

Varies here, just whenever we feel like one or normally when we see whole chook or a beef/lamb leg on special. No set day either, just really when I know I will be home in the afternoon to put it all on.

    Yum!!
I try to have a Sunday roast but it doesn't always happen.
I always do my lamb in the SC now. It's so delish that way.
I do chicken when they have the free-range on special.
When I married DH I was really excited about being able to eat traditional Afghan roasts where they slow cook it them cut it into chunks and char-grill the outside (roast & BBQ how can you go wrong?) but I have never once eaten it - what a let-down

i do lamb shanks and roast veges probably once a fortnight - just for me, one night when I get home from work - takes about 30-45 mins in the oven, I can put it on when I get home, have a shower, some downtime and then eat!

I like doing roast lamb and roast chicken. DH doesn't like roast beef and I don't like pork lol. I miss my grandmother's roast - she was a fabulous cook, and her baked dinner was the best.

I forgot to say that my fave part of doing a roast (any kind) is all the wonderful veges that go with it - taters (with herbs and garlic), sweet potatoes, parsnip, pumpkin, rosemary carrots (cut into sticks and wrap in alfoil with butter and a sprig of rosemary), onion and steamed greens. Yummo! Does anyone else do anything special/different to accompany their roasts?

I do one regularly, though not weekly~I should make more effort to do them, they are so easy! I love roast lamb, and pork, and chicken. But lamb is my fave. DH loves roast turkey, but I'm not too keen. Generally I just do boring old plain meat, no seasonings 'cept salt and pepper, though sometimes I will get creative and do rosmary, garlic, mustard...whatever depending on what meat we're having. I always make the gravey, apple sauce for pork, cranberry sauce for turkey, and often mint sauce for lamb. I've never made stuffing, I should try it one day, DH loves it! I always do heaps of roast veg- pumpkin, taties, sweet taties, carrot, onions. And have 2-3 other steamed veg too. Sometimes if I don't feel like roast veg I will do creamed potato bake.
This thread is inspiring me to do it more regularly, and with dessert. My girlfriend's mum used to do a chocolate self saucing pudding with her roasts, I used to love going to their house for sunday lunch after church!! YUM

I make seasoning - which is basically like stuffing but cooked separately and then you slice it into little pieces and serve with the meat. I prefer that to stuffing - I just can't eat something that has been shoved inside a chicken's chest cavity! It's basically just fresh breadcrumbs (or sometimes I use the stuffing mix from a box if I am feeling lazy), lemon or orange rind, onion, melted butter, egg and mixed herbs. If I am cooking a chicken I usually just stuff some lemon or onion inside it, instead of stuffing.

We have a roast once a week. Usually Pork, and usually on the BBQ as its YUMMO! But I can't wait to do slow roasted pork belly again that was DIVINE! Sundays are meat free here, as we usually have the kids godparents over (who are vegetarian) so we tend to do Roasts on Friday or Saturday night...

Sometimes once a week, sometimes once a fortnight. No particular special day of the week, just whenever.
Shared cooking here too. DP and I pretty much cook together most nights anyways.

Yep, we have one once every few weeks, usually lamb, sometimes beef, and rarely chicken or pork.

MMMM yum! With homemade gravy, none of that gravox or stock business
