    Roasts - do you?

    YUM - Roasts!
I like the idea of Sunday Roasts but we often are doing something on Sundays so dont have them. We probably have a roast (with meat) about every 4 -8 weeks. If its chicken I do it, if its red meat DH does it.
    What about you?

We have about one roast a week - and DH never does it!!

I prefer pork, but I have on occasion made beef or lamb. Sometimes I do roast veg, other times its steamed. I always make sure I do a dessert for afterwards, even if its just jelly and icecream!

we share the cooking - depends who has free hands when stuff needs doing!

We have a roast once a week. Usually Pork, and usually on the BBQ as its YUMMO! But I can't wait to do slow roasted pork belly again that was DIVINE! Sundays are meat free here, as we usually have the kids godparents over (who are vegetarian) so we tend to do Roasts on Friday or Saturday night...

Sometimes once a week, sometimes once a fortnight. No particular special day of the week, just whenever.
Shared cooking here too. DP and I pretty much cook together most nights anyways.

MMMM yum! With homemade gravy, none of that gravox or stock business

We only do chicken/turkey roasts because we don't eat red meat but yes! it's a family favourite. We have it about once a month. I'm always amazed at how quick and easy a roast is compared to most other dishes... once you have peeled and prepared the vegies the the most time consuming parts over really. We should do it more often. I'm thinking of doing a Christmas in July this month... made my Chrissy cake yesterday actually... and will look for a small turkey this weekend to roast.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm Roast chicken i have never actually personally cooked a roast chicken lol so do you rub anything into it to give it a special flavour or just cook it the way it is and is it about the same cooking time as say a lamb???? Bit sad hey lol

We usually have a roast of something or other twice a week I just find them so easy, tasty and economical. There are always yummy leftovers for lunches or the next night's dinner (shepherd's pie or something else creative).

I usually do a deboned leg of lamb with garlic, rosemary and preserved lemons, but somtimes I do Moroccan spices with yoghurt for something different. We do chicken and beef too, but rarely pork.

Roast chicken is so easy... you can rub almost anything onto it... and making your own stuffing is sooo easy too... I like to experiment with using nuts (walnuts work well) with the stuffing... it's a great way to use up stale bread... just dry it out even more in the toaster or hot oven then blend into crumbs in the food processor. I use 1 egg to keep the stuffing 'together'. I can't post a recipe because I don't follow one! I also use an old lidded roaster Kande brand.... I'd say it's circa 1950 but it really saves having to clean the inside of the oven too much (from baked on spitting juices).

We do a roast about once a week in winter, less often in Summer. Usually lamb or pork, but I like kangaroo too (just buy it in Woolies, cheap as!). Occasionally roast a chicken and we're having Christmas in July next weekend, so we'll do a turkey.

DH usually cooks the lamb or pork, I'll do the kangaroo or chicken and the veges too. I love experimenting with stuffing int a chicken or turkey (breadcrumbs plus lots of fresh herbs, walnuts or pinenuts, sultanas, onions or shallots, dried apricots, garlic etc - delicious!).

Such an easy dinner! Just remember to always make enough for leftovers!
