    Food Processor recommendations please!

    Hi ladies,
I am so over my food processor (Kenwood Multi-Pro - about 4 years old). I got it as a wedding present (was on our registry) and thought it was a really good strong one. Unfortunately not so. The moment something a little heavier is in the bowl, the motor sounds horrible and starts smelling like burnt plastic. It's really annoying.
I would love one that can handle heavy stuff like pizza dough. My current one doesn't even handle the dough for a simple marble cake all that well.
I use it mainly for cakes and doughs. But also for the blender attachment. I'm not that fussed about the chopping, slicing part and have only used the juicer a couple of times in the last 4 years.
    Any recommendations?

We have a Sunbeam Multiprocessor. It came with all the attachments and several speeds, but maybe a year later we only have two speeds. On and off, governed by the powerpoint! Maybe we coped a bad one from a good bunch, but who knows?!? So I'm keen to see if people have some good suggestions, cause I'm in the market as well.

well girls, this morning I busted out my new food processor. I bought it for $50 bucks brand new from my mother in law because she had two and didnt need this one. It is a Sunbeam multiprocessor LC6200 I loved it, it has everything and is so quiet. Compact also it all fits together for storage. has processing, dough, slicing, chipping, grating, shredding (coarse & fine) blades, and whisk attachment. I have only used the processing blade though so I cant comment on the dough blade.
    I highly reccomend it.

Have any of you made heavy doughs like pizza or bread dough with your machines? I'd be interested to hear what kind of jobs you do with your machines.
Mine came with all the attachments, too. it just doesn't have the power to handle the job. And that's although at the time I was told it did have the power and was pretty much top of the range. I think it was around $300 new. So not a cheapie.

If you are after something to handle dough then the Kitchenaid stand mixer is the way to go, that was what is was originally built for. Sounds like the food processor you have is trying to be too many things. Sometimes you need different appliances to get good results.

Astrid, I completely agree with your point about my FP being a jack of all trades, master of none. Yes, it chops, but not particularly well. Yes, it makes cake batter, but only if it's quite a runny batter. It kinda annoys me, cause I don't need it for whipping cream, I have a hand mixer for that. I'll look into the kitche aid thing. Thanks!
Wouldloveabubba, that would be so nice of you if you could ask them for me.

Yeah, looking at what you want to do a stand mixer seems the most appropriate, whether it be a Kitchenaid or another brand. The KA, as said above by Christy, has optional accessories, so you can grate, slice, mince, make sausages whatever. There is a KA thread somewhere, I hope it has not gone in a cull. If you have pay tv they sometimes demo them on TVSN.

ETA: here is the thread http://forums.bellybelly.com.au/foru...tchen-aid.html. Hopefully we can convert you

Astrid, that thread is evil!!! I want one, too now.
My dilemma: I have very limited bench space. And knowing how lazy I can be, when it comes to pulling out my food processor, i don't know whether I will use the kitchen aid all that often... So, is it really worth it for me, then...
And my rational self tells me that there are so many other things on my list that should come before that... But it's so pretty...
    As I said, you're evil!
