    Wink 2010 Summer/Christmas Challenge

** Mods i hope it's ok to start a bit of a challenge, if not can someone please let me know **

I guess it's hard to dispute the fact that summer is coming and most of us want to look warm weather ready, even if that means just a little more 'respectable' in our togs than usual.

So who's in... i find it's easier working towards a goal when i have other people making me a little more accountable for my actions.

Let us know your current weight, your goal weight, measurements and anything else that might HELP US HELP YOU reach your goals.
It does not need to be a WEIGHT bassed goal, lets make this a summer health challenge... maybe you want to run a marathon or be able to walk to the shops and back, no goal is too small and no goal is too big... we CAN work through them together.

for now PM me your details: Your goal, current weight etc

We will make weigh in's (for those doing weight based) on a Monday if that works for everyone.

Ok have Pm'ed you my stats ZF.

What is everyone doing to acheive their goal? I'm going to try and eat more healthily and go for a walk everyday. I'm also doing situps and crunches to help with my seperated stomach muscles from my recent pregnancy. Need to increase my water intake too.

If you want guys PM the weights etc for now, once i have a BB e-mail we can send them to there then we can keep the # of posts down to 'helping us out' and motivating each other.

My goal is to loose it all in 5kg blocks, buy eating better and attempting to get in some exercise.
This morning the girls and i are having fruit salad, a glass of milk and crumpets for breakfast... mmm mmmm mmm

I was told by the physio not to do sit ups because it can increase the seperation. I have been wondering how long this applies for. (my bub is 6 months old). Have you seen a physio and been cleared to do sit-ups again?

I'm in. Starting weight 81.5kg. Current weight 72.5kg. Goal weight 65kg.

I am losing it by the old fashioned slog of lower calories and more exercise, currently on 1200 calories per day. I have recently switched to lower carbs too to try and help me get off my current plateau.

I'm in too I am going to be shy and not list my starting weight, just aiming for 5kg loss if thats ok.

Have joined the gym, been going 3 days, then 4 days, next week is 5 days. Now i need to conquer food as i know i can do the exercise!

    Gym routine this week is:

    Monday- 3k run, 12k bike + 5x weights (4x15 reps of each)
    Tuesday- Zumba class
    Wednesday- 3k run, 12k bike, 1k row + 5x weights
Thursday- pilates class + zumba class
Friday- 5x weights + step class (or 3k run, 5k bike, 3k row)

What is everyone eating this week?

Really? hmm..might have to google what i could do to help then. Can't really afford to see a physio right now unfortunatly.

Appletree, that's a good looking gym routine. Well done!

In regards to eating, i am going to follow the healing foods pyramid. It emphasizes foods known to have healing benefits, plant-based choices, variety and balance, support of a healthful environment, and mindful eating.

It's raining today so i can't go for a walk sadly. Any suggestions on what i could do instead?

OK. I am in. Just joined the local gym. In all honesty, I am not doing this for weight loss I only have to loose about 3kgs, (which I have been trying to get rid of for years) I am a pretty healthy BMI, but I am doing it for heart health and for the toning. But I would love to be part of this group for motivation. Which is something I lack.

ZF, can you add me to the FB group? We are friends...

I am off to the gym for a pilates class in an hour. Better get myself organised.

Anthea - can you put on some music and dance around with the kids, and get your heart rate up that way? You can do things like squats and lunges too...

Wow Leesa! Love your FB page! How can i join without any friends and family seeing? You look gorgeous

Antheia, before i joined the gym on rainy days i would do an inside run. I downloaded Nicole Blum's Couch to 5k podcast (interval training to music) and did running on the spot. The first week from memory is a 5 minute walk then 60 second runs followed by 90 secs of walking and is pretty easy. Her music is pop and lots of fun for the kids too, you could all do it together and it would wear them out. For the 60 sec runs, you could get them to do running on the spot, star jumps, hopping, anything you could think of!

I got into trouble for doing sit-ups too early too, apparently they make the separation worse. You can check and see how your separation is going, lie down and do a crunch and see how many fingers you can get in the gap down the middle, once they are back together you can start.

I need more specific help with food, i can't just follow the pyramid as i want to just pick some food up and eat it without thinking. My gym gives you 6-weekly sessions with a nutritionist but i have really struggled to stick to it, even though i picked the foods. Maybe tomorrow my challenge will be to stick to it and not having any extra's?

I find exercise is my weakness. Food is easy. I don't eat much, I know about portion control and I don't snack throughout the day. I just have to write down what foods to buy at shopping and make a meal plan each week so im not worrying about what to have for each meal when its time to make it.

But finding the motivation to exercise is hard, especially now. It took me a while to recover from the birth due to low iron and then i got really sick with bronchitis and sinus infections which im still not 100% over and it's been 4 weeks. I'm tired and just have no energy. I know starting exercise will increase my energy but it's just starting that's the problem. I have taken the first step and written down a weekly exercise routine. Hopefully i will stick to it. I'll be starting it tomorrow. *fingers crossed*

Oops, did I hear sit ups? Nooooooo!! The best way to flatten your stomach (other than cardio & weight loss) is to do the 'plank'. Lay belly down, put your forearms on the ground and either use knees or toes (toes more advanced) squeeze your tummy muscles like there is no tomorrow

Appletree - aww, thanks hun, heaps of BB girls are there too. You can always join, then go to your profile and delete where it says 'XXXXX just joined Fat Chic Slim' (and you should still remain attached to us - I think?).
