    Pro Points with weight watchers

I need some help with learning how to eat and what not to eat and portion size etc. I've been trying to change my eating over the last two weeks and I'm still putting on weight so I'm obviously doing something wrong.
I need to loose a minimum of 13kg!!!!! I'm so scared and I don't know where to start .

I'm starting to feel really embarrassed to leave the house becasue my clothes are all too tight and I don't want my kids to learn the same eating habits as me.

Anyway slightly side tracked there - I'm thinking about joining weight watchers and doing it at home (money is really tight and I can't really afford Jenny Craig or joining weight watchers and going to meetings). I've been looking at the kits on ebay and I was just wondering if anyone is currently doing the Pro points weight watchers and what I need to do this program?

What is included in the Pro Points kit?

I can't believe how nervous I am - guess I'm scared I'm going to fail

    TIA,
    Dan.

    Oops, I forgot 2 questions,

Does the pro point kit set out the meal plan for you?

What is different from the previous years?

    Hi there,

I don't do pro points so can't be a massive help, but I was discussing it with a friend recently.

My understanding is that the main difference between this and previous ww programs is that all fruit and vege are now 0 points. This includes potatoes and other starchy vegetables, bananas etc that previously had higher points due to higher calories.

    Sorry I can't help more!

Hi sweets, I do ProPoints online and basically they have changed the value of certain points, so now you basically get more points in day, fruit and veg are nearly all 0, and some foods are higher in points now. Last year I got about 21 points and now I get 29. I love it, I use the app on my phone and it really makes me think about what I am putting in my mouth and make healthier choices.
The other choice is calorie king hun, it's free and it tracks your food as well just like WW does. Don't be scared of failing darls, you have nothing to lose by giving it a go. I have found that exercising is key as well, if I don't get out to do something I am doing a dvd when the kids are in bed, or yoga at night at the very least plus I have the treadmill now as well. xoxox

Tanstar summed it up beautifully - I joined WW pro points about 3 weeks ago & have found it simple to use. Alot of what we used to eat for meals, we still do - I bulk it up with more veg/salad and have cut down my portion size... There are recipes on the site too that you can follow. I used to do Calorie King & had alot of success with that but got bored with meals, so joined WW this time plus I have alot of social functions this time of the year and I want to be able to go to them and roughly know that I am staying on track with my eating - I found this a little more difficult on CK.

Anyway, why don't you try it for two weeks - I am fairly sure there is a promotional going on at the moment whereby you can try for two weeks for free - search via FB.. GL

Thanks everyone. I'll look into the free trial for two weeks and then I'll have a better idea of it's for me or not. Off to search for it when the little one is in bed this arvo.

I'm in my third week doing ww pro points online. I have previously gone to meetings but its too hard with ds. I have lost over 3kgs in two weeks which is more than I have ever lost in the past. I'm an online member which costs me $30 per month paying three monthly. I can use my computer to access etools, the ww online tracker, but mostly use the ww app on my iPhone/iPad. On pro points fruit is no points as are most veggies except potato, sweet potato, corn and peas. It really does teach you about eating for health, portion size and what different foods cost in terms of what will help you lose/maintain weight or gain. Good luck!

There is another thread in here somewhere, that I posted alot of info about the ProPoints plan on. (will see it I can dig it up for you).

There aren't meal plans as such in the material you get in the kit - but there is a 'meal plan builder' type booklet. It has different meals and snacks which you can mix and match together to create a meal plan. I generally recomment to buy the WW magazines if you are after meal plans, they have a new one in it each month.

    Hi gals,

I know this thread isn't in use atm but I need to ask a questions about the WW pro points. I can't do any exercise atm due to a knee injury. I have been losing weight whilst following the program but I have also been doing a combo of walking/jogging and yoga for exercise. Since I can't do any exercise for at least this week only, do you think it is reasonable to expect a weight loss still? I am concerned if I do the 29 pro points per day plus the additional 49 points for the week that I will gain....

RhiChiChi - The program is designed so that you can loose weight even without doing any exercise at all. If you aren't doing exercise, I would simply advice you to look very closely at the 'types' of foods you are spending your PP on and make sure you are only eating to your hunger signals and not just because you have PP left over to use.

Also, traditional exercises may be out because of your knee, but there will be some other weight bearing exercises you can do with your top half of your body (ie, dumbells). Anything is better then nothing. Some of my members with knee problems even go to the pool and do gentle water exercises; but that may not be appropriate with your knee. Perhaps have a chat to your doctor about what activities you can still do which don't impact at all on your injury.

Thanks Misty, was hoping you'd come in!

I am trying to keep as strict as possible on the program (ie: no cakes etc...).

I am resting for the week but would like to do some freestyle swimming by next week. I am still going to go to yoga tonight but will mention to the instructor of my injury and modify my poses.

    Thanks again
