Hi Girls, I am supposed to be on holidays and have been so busy that I never seem to have time to do anything. After I dropped DS off at daycare today i forced myself to go back to bed and have only just gotten up (1:30pm). This is the one week of my holidays that are just for me so I really want to make the most of it before I start work.
Sue: I have everything crossed for you and other than that I don't know what else to say... other than it sucks and you shouldn't have to be so worried all the time.
Helen: I haven't gotten as far as the temp thing so I don't really know what is good or bad as far as ttc but I hope it is a good sign for you. I used to do the temp thing a long time ago but to prevent conceiving, funny how life changes!
Lan: good on you re the counselling. I had some counselling after I lost Charlie and it really helped. I've thought about going back before ttc and hearing that you have as encouraged me to do so. I met her at a retreat that I went to and she ws so gorgeous. She apparently worked with Olivia Newton John when she had cancer etc. She was really open to embracing Charlie's presence and keeping her in our lives through ritual and stuff. A lot of people look at you like you're a freak when you talk about that kind of stuff but she said it was essential for the healing process.
Hi cindee, Jo, roz, tildy and everyone else... I hope you are all well!
As for me, my trip to Dunk Is. was great. It rained non-stop for the first 4 days and then was beautiful. We ate and drank non-stop and had the most perfect day snorkeling out on the Barrier Reef. DS kept calling it the Big Barrier Reef and did a great job taking on the snorkeling thing! The holiday was over all too soon but I guess if they went forever we wouldn't appreciate them as much.
I've had an interesting time since returning. It's funny that the temperature thing should come up because I'm taking mine again now but for different reasons. It's a long story which I may share at some point but basically a sequence of 'coincidences' led me last week to a natural thyroid specialists. I really believe it was Charlie guiding me.
For most of my adult life whenever I go to a new doctor or naturopath as soon as they see me they ask if I've been tested for thyroid problems. As a result I was always having blood tests to check which always came back showing no problem. Anyway, I got so sick of it because I had all the symptoms of hypothyroidism but got to the point where I thought I was just making excuses and that I needed to eat better and exercise more and just get over it. btw I have a very good diet and exercise at least 5 times a week already.
To be honest I had really put the whole thyroid thing out of my mind. This lady is one of the few practitioners in Australia who has this alternative testing equipment developed in the states and as soon as she saw me she said I had a problem and then all the tests showed that the problem is quite serious. I know that is bad but in a way it is good for me because at least now something can be done about it. She works in with a specialst in Brisbane who is a doctor and had his own thyroid (which could not be diagnosed with blood tests) treated after using this method. Thyroid medication can only be prescribed by a doctor so I have now been referred to him and he is getting me to take my temps which along with the testing will help him determine the correct dosage.
The interesting thing about my appointment with the naturopath is that she was so straightforward about everything and almost blunt about this being a significant factor in both my miscarriage and then losing Charlie. If I had not been in such a good place I may have been upset about the way she handled it, but it was actually nice just to have someone tell it how it is and back herself.
She said stress is a big trigger of thyroid problems and will really exacerbate the problem. I have had more stress over the past 2 years than ever in my life so it makes sense.
Anyway, I won't ramble on anymore but was wondering what a temp cycle is for you girls who are temping. I have no idea if mine are high or low. They seem low 36.1 around 2 weeks after the first day of last period but I'm not sure. I saw helen that you dropped to 36.2 so I'm guessing 36.1 is pretty low, it's been around this for 3 days so far.
I'll keep you girls posted but am relieved to have discovered this now and will hopefully have my health back on track by ttc time in December. Does anyone else ever have the feeling their angels are guiding them to certain things??
