Sue -- I know it's super tough to see spotting, believe me, but I don't want you to lose hope. First, it turned from pink one day into brown next day. This is a good thing. Plus, at your stage, they say spotting is so normal, with the placenta implanting and everything. I may not be able to take that kind of advice seriously when they give it to me, but I must believe it 100% deep down for other people, because I really think things will be okay for you. Call your doctor and explain, then you'll know that s/he knows and s/he can decide what to do. It's funny, but I really want my current pregnancy to suceed not just for me but so I can lurk around here afterwards and say "I had 3 huge, bright red bleeds in the first trimester and it was still just fine!"
Paula -- I've been hypothyroid since I was about 12, and before that I was hyPERthyroid for 4 years. So I've been taking meds for over 20 years for it. Like Sue I'm also on 100 micrograms. They test me quite often this time, since I had a late loss last time, and they're explaining every result to me. After the first test she said the hormone levels were perfect, but the TSH (hormone stimulator produced by me, not the medicine) is low, suggesting that my meds might be too high. However, she won't change them yet, as it's the hormone level that the baby needs and the TSH is not important for the baby, so no fiddling now. When they test me now it's just a blood test, but when I was 8 the ver first tests involved iodine and several hours of pumping stuff in and out of me, so as I understand it a simple blood test won't always uncover the problem. Thyroid levels are SO important for our bubs -- I've been told that if I weren't medicated I would have been infertile, but with medication I got knocked up ini 2 months, so it seems like it's at least as important as they say.
Lan -- it's great to hear that you're starting off everything with counseling and health checks etc. As soon as we decided to start TTC I called around trying to get some sort of pre-conception counseling from the doctors and such here; I took it for granted that such a thing was "normal". I was just repeatedly told "Oh, we don't do that" and "call us when you're pregnant or if you've gone 2 years of trying without getting pregnant." So please, take every opportunity you have to have a whole team around you preparing you for this most important of events!
Helen -- nope, I have never had a cycle when I dipped down and then up again and then gotten AF, because my last cycle was EXACTLY like that (with the spotting at the same time as well) and ended up with a BFP!
My shoulders and back are killing me, as we're trying to take care of our neglected garden before going to Spain tomorrow. Have you ever tried to use a hand mower to cut grass that's gotten to be about 15 cm long? We spent the whole weekend on it and the weeds are only half picked. Here's the sad part -- I think our garden is 150 square meters total.
My scan is today, 3 pm. You'll all probably be in bed when I get home, but I'll drop a post about how it went. I won't be home to see how Rozzie's went, and we won't have a computer with us because I think we need to get away from that, but I'm sending all possible positive vibes her way for Wednesday!
Thanks everyone for your good vibes, I am soooo confused right now, I so want to POAS but if I only implanted yesterday it's too early, BUT if my temps are still up tomorrow I will be and I will let you all know STRAIGHT AWAY!! after DH of course! I have tried not to get my hopes up even telling myself my temp will drop tomorrow and AF will come, but then I get this little tiger in my head saying 'No Way think POSITIVE girl!' But I guess I don't need to explain all these feelings to you girls. Bring on the morning so I know once and for all (I hope).
Tildy - good luck with your scan I hope my chart ends up like yours!
Paula - I am glad they found your thyroid problem, and now you can be on the road to fixing it, just a query, are you seeing Heather Bruce?? Just the way you described her being very straight forward sounds like her. My temps before Ov vary from 36.0 (I have had as low as 35.8)to 36.3, after ov they usually sit around 36.5 but range between 36.4 to 36.8. I hope that helps, if anyone knows how do I put my Fertility Friend chart up so you can read it? Good luck for Dec.
Sue - How are you feeling? Do you know how to put my FF chart up?? If I can work it out I will be able to show you!
Jo - I have had cyberspace steal my posts many times!! I will have to do the copy & paste thing too when I seem to have a a lot to say, because it is a bugger having to rewrite what you just did! How are you?? I hope Dec brings you joy too.
Lan - thanks for your positivity I hope your right! And yes you are on the road to a BFP too, December seems like the month!!
Wow, girls, I don't feel like such a freak now knowing that I am not the only one with thyroid issues. It's a bit like this forum, i'm not happy that you girls have problems too but it makes me feel less alone knowing there are others out there. It makes me a bit angry that I may have lost my babies because of this but I am trying not to dwell on it. I was being treated with B6 injections when I fell pregnant with DS for stress and a few other things and now I'm wondering if this is what helped him survive. My naturopath has put me on a special B supplement to help relax me a bit. If it was what got him through then what a little miracle he is... as if I didn't know that already after what has happened this year.
THe ladies name is Jan Saxon, she was in my exact sitation several years ago and has now made it her mission to help as many women as she can with this problem.
Anyway, looking forward to hearing about some good scan results over the next few days from tildy and rozzie and Sue still having everything crossed that your spotting is just implantation and all that other crazy PG stuff!
Well on the good side my temp rose again today to....37.2! Huge jump, but on the down side did POAS and got. So will just have to wait it out a bit longer, will test again on Thursday is nothing happens in the mean time.
