We did C and I don't think I'd really have wanted another way. I guess I'd have liked a surprise proposal, but not with a ring as I really enjoyed us shopping for that together and getting to choose the one that suited me best. I wouldn't have liked a proposal that was a complete surprise though in the sense that we hadn't discussed being together forever etc first. I couldn't make such a serious decision as a surprise.
