There are many issues that you will encounter as a new parent. We have put together this list of useful articles and threads in order to assist you with some common questions or issues you may have, and to provide you with bit of extra support that we all need as new parents:
Please contact the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) or a Lactation Consultant if you are concerned that you may have breastfeeding and/or supply problems, and before the introduction of solids.
I don't have any news and I can't remember what was in the last thread (stupid baby brain of mine lol). Just thought i'd post so I could get notification of any new posts.
Hope everyone is doing well and that all the bubs are good.
Night everyone! Hope there is someone to talk to tomorrow
Amanda, that sounds so adorable. Great news on the cream working.
Bel, hehe, we'll wait for the toothy grin pic. Hehe on 'muffin top', oh I so know that feelin, wish could wave a magic wand to get rid of our jelly belly's for those of us that still have them.
KelliC, how's that neck of urs coming along? Is it hard to breathe with that bandage on?
Holly keeps rubbing her eyes, so going to mention it at her 6mth checkup. She gets a little dry around them & little red dots on her eyelids. Can't put cream that close to her eyes. Well swimming was great yesterday, perfect weather too even though indoors. We stayed in for 1hr then stayed for another 2hrs for a picnic lunch. Although unfortunately 1 of the bub's got a red ant in his shirt & got several bites, poor lil man, he's always so happy but just screamed.
Hi girls
hmm sorry been busy lately - gotta make some decent changes to Jens website before the end of the month and also get ready for skydiving competition I'm one of the two judges of during the long weekend
OMG - 6 months is just around the corner for us - 2weeks time. Means solids and moving into his OWN room - Jen thinks she might go sleep in there then - noooooooo
Time for parents group (haven't been the last 2 weeks - oopsie) -catchya all later
honestly I've only met very few of DH's rellies, so wouldn't have a clue whether he's related to a Peter. But might ask him about it when I see him tonight!
Also Perth mums, check out the Perth Meet thread here! Everyone is welcome!
Shell, Charlie is going to be starting swim classes in a month, and I'm really looking forward to it. Though that ant bite thing has given me the goosebumps!
Abs, I admit to sleeping on the rocking chair in Charlie's room a few times when he was really fluey and I was scared to leave him. So I know how Jen feels!
Well looks like Charlie is finally just about over his cold. He slept from 6pm to 6am this morning, and I feel a million bucks. He's also really good now at putting himself to sleep. For his 11pm and 3pm afternoons naps, I feed him, burp him, change him and put him down awake in his cot. 5 Mins later, he's out like a light. I'm such a lucky mummy!
Hello everyone lurking. It's bl**dy quiet in here! Let's get chatting!
ETA Bel, I just spoke to DH and he reckons he has a cousin named Peter who's about that age. He works in Public Service. Think it's the same person?
We are tying to settle into Perth but I seriously dont feel like my feet have hit the ground since we got here. Between trying to unpack, rebuild the shed (white ants attacked it!) and preapre for the wedding I am bridesmaid for on the weekend - not to mention a work from home part time job interview tomorrow - it's outta control I tell you. Poor lil' bear has been on the go the whole time we've been down here and she's been so good, but cracked last night. Woke up at 11.30 and screamed for several hours, seriously bought me back down to earth with a thud and reminded me she is only almost 6 months old. I forget considerig she's always so good and just comes along to whatever I do with a smile on her face. Broke my heart!
I'm just reading up on the perth meet up - anyone going?
i always seem to miss when a new thread starts??? anyway sushee- oh good glad Charlie is starting to pick up again!
ouch on the red ant in the kids shirt..... nasty
Just wanted to say we are off to Sydney thismorning for 10days & also getting Nixon christened up there on the 1st.
so hope everyone has a good couple of weeks, i may pop in if i get a chance on mum/sis pc.
2 days ago at mothers group Nixon rolled for the first time!! i was so excited because i wasnt even expecting it! he did it twice and then yesterday did it once for dh to see.
he has been doing tummy to back which is funny because he has been trying back to tummy for so long but hasnt mastered it yet!
anyway Ciao for now!!
Looks like everyone is too busy to be posting as much!!
Between qworking, gymbaroo, play group and everything else, I never seem to have any time anymore!!! I now wonder what the heck I did with all my time before I had Tyron!!
Susan - where in Perth have you moved to??
Nickers - congrats on Nixon rolling, I am scared now as it means they are one step closer to crawling...
Shell - good to hear that Holly is loving her swimming, we haven't started Tyron yet, but will once it gets warmer, as there is no way in this universe I am getting in bathers yet, DH is going to take him on a Saturday!!
Bel - hope you are well!
Sushee - good to hear that Charlie's cold is better, it is so horrible when they are sick!!
Abs - I too can't believe that it is nearly 6 months after we had our bubba's, time is moving way to quickly!!!
Hi to everyone that I have missed, hope yourself and the babies are all doing great!!
so much for parents group yesterday - thats now 3 we've missed
Just as we were getting ready to leave, both my phone and Jen's phone rang... she was busy off and on (but able to look after Jordy) - I was busy for over an hour - stoopid computer systems
Swimming, Jen has a dvd from Laurie Lawrence about introducing em to swimming. Wont be too long before she'll take him... The local Leagues Club does classes and has a fairly reasonable pool. Plus the Ryde Aquatic Centre is only just up the road (maybe 5mins away) - where they did things like Water Polo etc at the 2000 Olympics, and we have the spa in the backyard. He will certainly be getting some water time very very soon
Hope you enjoy the sunshine and warmer weather up here Nickers - currently its 26 vs 16 degrees
Oh, Jordy still has his wicked cough. The Amoxylin(?) given thinking he has croup has done nothing. Jen took him to the doc again this morning. She (the doc) says he shows no sign of anything bar the cough - hes an extremely happy and healthy boy (dont you just love those words) - if it hasn't cleared in a week, bring him back. Doc bulk bills, so thats not a problem
Someone has just woken from his nap, so I might go help - byeeeee
I had charlie weighed and measured for his 5 month check up!!
Are you ready for it!!!!!!!
10.060 kilos!!!!!!!!!! and he is 72cm long!
I can't believe how big he is - but he is really long - the health nurse said he's not actually fat but just a really solid little boy. and well above the height for his age. But then gav and i are both very tall
He isn't rolling or anything yet. he has a chest infection at the moment - he is onantibitotics. i have been upevery hour whilst he was sick - its starting to kil me!
I have no time for anyhting anymore.... hope everyone else is going great and that all babies are growing nicely.
Sush, yay on Charlie being back to his 'ol self. Holly's back to waking up around 2:30 or 4am, sleeping through only last 2-3 nights. Would be nice Sush, but can't see that happening, we're in at least 4 diff states (I think), hehe. I LOVE that ticker pic, how cute.
Hope u can settle in & relax shortly Sooz, moving is a pain in the butt, but imagine worse if moving a long distance.
WTG lil Nixon, that's awesome Nickers.
Abs, at least he isn't getting worse I guess.
Hehe, know what u mean Lisa, we all feel the same. Our mum's group & 2 other mum's were there on Tue & 1 lap swimmer, that's it, otherwise pool empty. As class is for under 2yo's (but all 5-6mths), we all feel same, so is ok, hehe.
Wholly cow Jacci, ur lil man has just grown so much, that is really long huh. Ohhh, hope he's better real soon.
More great weather, yay, hope it's like this all spring/summer, but doubt it. We had a lovely picnic today, another mum's group (the hospital one), was at the same place DH & I got married (anniv in 3wks), no ants though, hehe.
Yeah, shell, that was one of the prof shots I got taken of Charlie. It was by far the best one. I actually didn't think much of the rest of them and thought I could have done better. So not very happy about paying $400+ for photos that weren't anything special, bar one! Even this one, she kept trying to make him smile, and I thought he looked gorgeous as he was, so I told her to just take the shot goddamnit! I think I came across as a frightful stage mum.
But the upside of it is that DH agrees that I could have done better, and have done better with my dinky little 4mp cybershot, so he's agreed that we should get a digital slr for me for Christmas! Woohoo! I'm online browsing even as we speak!
