oh and this is a really dumb question but the 6 week check up how does that go i had GD so when i make an appointment should i book the gtt and how much do the dotors normally charge for the check up
Niamh75 Didn't realise you were a fellow GD sufferer. I had GD with CHloe also. I had my 6 week checkup on Wednesday. OB did a pap smear and just checked all healed. I asked about the GTT as he didn't mention it and said that yeah I should probably have another test done as it was unusual that I got it. He gave me the thing to go get it done and said to go around the 3 month timeframe. Some people have said they've had theirs at 6 weeks and I assumed that also but OB said 3 months. I guess he is giving me plenty of time for my body to adjust back. Have you done any BSL's since birth? I did a few in hospital and they were all under 7 and I did one 1hr and 2hr after a bowl of ice-cream with topping and again under 7.

I have a question for the group about growth spurts. We had a rather odd day yesterday where Beth wanted to sleep all day. She was so sleepy that at one point I could barely wake her and I got all panicky and took her temp (normal) and starting googling symptoms. In the end I thought fine if you want to sleep then I will put you to bed (6pm), but when i was undressing her to change into a sleep suit she perked right up and became the baby I know and love, really alert and wanting to play. So then I thought perhaps she was too hot so I let her kick around on her play mat for 10 mins wearing just a body suit and socks. Anyway, the googling yielded sleepiness as a side effect of a growth spurt. Has anyone else experienced this?

And does anyone here follow a 'routine'. I have been letting Beth set the routine and it has been working for all of us, but I'm starting to think that I should get her now used to going to bed at 7pm instead of 9ish. I tried to start a routine today but because she was acting so oddly sleepy it didn't really work! Oh well I will try again tomorrow!

Erin - Yep have seen that Chloe got sleepy around her growth spurts. At 3 weeks she slept 11 hours straight and scared the #### out of me. I was poking her to make sure she was still breathing. Chloe loves "no nappy time" where I just pop her on a disposable change mat with her nappy off and she kicks and kicks like there is no tomorrow. Normally a wee follows and then when she starts getting a little cranky I dress her again and she is happy.

I haven't tried to set a routine for Chloe but I'm finding she is just making one herself. I note down her feed times as I was shocking in the beginning at remembering when she had fed and when she might be "due". And I can see a pattern now. If she wakes at around 4am then she has a different pattern than if she wakes around 7am but it's usually one of those times is her first feed and it goes from there. Because I am demand feeding it was just easier to do things as she wanted them and now she is putting herself in a routine which is great.

US - Well BF"ing is still an issue. I think my supply is now suffering because Chloe is not feeding properly. I have an appt with LC on Wednesday (was today but they had to change it). We had a shocker day on Wednesday after I had a chicken stir fry for dinner Tues night. She was up most of Wednesday with belly pains and no poo followed. I ended up sleeping on the lounge with her Wed night as she wouldn't lay flat on her back for more than 30 seconds without screaming in pain, and a blood curdling scream I might add. So yesterday we were much better. She had the afternoon with her poppy (alone without nana i might add) and he fed her EBM and a FF comp and they had a nap together then she came home and was all good. Then last night my supply was low so I had a 90ml EBM in the fridge and gave it to her. About an hour later she started screaming again and that was when I realised that half the EBM I'd expressed on Wed Night and half the Thurs morning so she'd gotten half a feed from the stir fry incident. Not happy jan and I felt so bad for her. I ended up giving her a full FF at 9pm to try and flush her out and voila!!!!! Mind you it resulted in her 2nd bath for the day and with mummy in with her.

This morning at 4am she fussed with BF and I had another 90ml EBM (from last night) so i gave her that and then she slept with me till 8.45am. I gave her 35 min BF at 9am but then she was fussing afterwards still even though she went to sleep on me so i gave her a 60ml comp FF and she finished it in record time, gave her another FF and she took another 30ml so I'm really not sure how much she is getting from the BF'ing at this stage.

I'm wondering if I'd be better of just expressing and giving her EBM and then a FF afterwards depending on what I've been able to express. At least I'd know what she was getting and would be less fussing with making up FF's etc.. So not sure what to do!

Sorry for long rant, my typing ers just took on a mind of its own!
