Oh i watched some of that show last night, but i had it on mute as i was on the phone to my mum, i couldnt even watch it with the sound off, i saw the bit where the baby was crying and crying and the family was eating dinner and i just wanted to cry, i had to turn the tv off, it distressed me so much, imagine the distress it caused that little baby to be left alone to cry like that.... Oh it breaks my heart.

I used to be a believer that you should let your baby cry as thats what i was raised with, but its just not right, im sorry if anyone here does that but i just cant agree with it, i think its a form of torture.

anyway, had another good night last night, slept right through, he wouldve gone right till 7.30 but i got nervous about him not having anything to eat all night and gave him a feed around 4.30am!!!! I dont know if i was being silly or not but thats what i did.
Have booked into baby massage class, Sonie if you are interested its in Point Cook next Friday and it only costs $2 (the price for the oils) you have to book so if you are keen, let me know and i will give you the details.

    any word on Ren??

Orange - go Dash for not vomiting and sleeping really well, you must be thrilled!! Ive noticed Caleb isnt having as many issues with wind and vomiting anymore either, perhaps their little tummies are maturing and getting used to handling it all aye?? whatever it is i know im happy
Well its supposed to be another hot day today... eeek, lets hope those fires stay away!

Jo: Unfortunately Jo, Dash isn't vomitting anymore because of the Zantac and Gaviscon (wish his stomach was maturing)....without it he can vomit across the room and out his nose and it disturbs his feeding. As for waking Caleb at 4.30 - he will wake if he is hungry, so don't worry, obviously he is quite content. DD was sleeping 12 hour blocks at 5 weeks but she would wake earlier if hungry....when she slept through like this though she would have two bottles closer together first thing in the morning or catch up somewhere else during the day. Dash is starting to do this now too. It is around about this time that they drop a bottle anyway (when bottle feeding exculsively) Hope that helps, you are doing a great job.

Hi everyone - I got a message from Ren late on Wed night.....
"Paed wanted us to stay tonight but we came home. I'm sick of hospitals. Got prescription for reflux hope it helps. See Paed again nect week for review".
Poor things, I really hope things are improving for them. Big Hugs Ren if you are lurking.

Sam had his first immunisations this week. Was awful. He didn't cry heaps but was just a bit grumpy for the rest of the day. I cried tho, I hate seeing him upset. He was such a brave boy - 2 needles and that gastro one given orally. For around 24hrs afterwards he fed quite frequently. Sometimes I think he just likes the bonding that goes with BF & feeds because he feels secure. Jo I know exactly what you mean about not letting babies cry - I just can't & won't. I watched that doco on ABC last week and that strupid hard a$$ woman annoyed me so much (the one saying to leave the baby in the garden for 3 hours a day).

Sam had a big boy bath last night. Was so much fun, I ran the bath and hopped in with him and he loved it. He's outgrowing his baby bath now and our bath is so deep I would break my back leaning over so I just got in with him. DH was leaning over pouring water over his tummy and he gave us a big smile. Was a really lovely 'family' moment.

We still don't really have a routine. That is great that it is working for some - especially Jo you're doing great! Sam has two longer sleeps each day so I just sleep when he does. Bon - Sam loves to be held too. I'll feed him, burp him have a play or a story (I don't like to put him down until at least 1/2 hr after a feed), then to wind him down I'll lean back into the lounge with him on his tummy on my tummy and he is so relaxed and content. I'll gently walk into his room and put him in the bassinet, lay him down then within 1 minute he'll wake with eyes wide open arms & legs going everywhere. Bit naughty but when DH is on night shift I sleep him in the bed with me (safely of course) and he settles well with me. I just put my arm across and rest it under his little legs and that contact is enough to keep him happy. Yes I could be creating a monster but at this stage I think it's most important for me just to get some sleep.

Just popped on to see if any news on Ren....thanks AJC!

Ren: If you're reading this hun, hope things are starting to settle. Ava is lucky to have a Mum like you. You kinow her best of all so keep persisting for answers/help if reflux isn't the problem. Try not to let it all take away from your first exeriences as a Mum....it is a very rewarding 'job' which I'm sure you already know. Look after yourself and your precious Ava....I am thinking of you. Hope those meds have kicked in and Ava is enjoying some settled sleep (and you and DH for that matter).

AJC: Dash has his needles in 1.5 weeks. Glad Sam was a brave boy...I'm not sure I could be that brave lol! Sweet reading about your family moment in the bath....hope it is a memory that stays with you forever. There are no rules to parenting...as long as your little one is happy (and Mummy and Daddy). They are only tiny for a short time so I say steel every moment you can and worry about 'fixing' bad habbits later when Sam can better understand. He he! You are doing a great job with Sam!

    Later Ladies....

    xx

my little man doing good,i had to wake him tonight for a bath and feed at 1145pm,he been asleep since 7 and was getting worried,he slept face down tummy time on my lap..its his wind-down time,,was worried he slept so long between feed and didnt want to bath him so late but he was pongy...today tried the 1and a half hours up and 2-3 hours down,he went down easy but cracked the poos and went to sleep finally into his own little routine and was content and had a big long sleep, like ajc little man he has 2 long sleeps during the day,Dh keeps wakign him banging n clanging or banging doors just when he settles then wakes him up by startling him and it stuffs him up for the next hour or so.He sleeps thru noise...id love nixon to sleep thru the night but he now stretching feeds to 4 hours, but not sleeping thru,he has a feed about 11pm,then 2 or 3am,then 6am etc..but slowly going 4 hourly, have increased his bottle but he still a lazy feeder, tonight i put the organic formula in his bottle instead of his other one and he slept and was more content for longer..mmmm might trial this tomorrow me thinks.

Well, my little man has been a bit cheeky the past few days and seems to have forgotten how to sleep on his own during the day. He usually goes down quite easily and self settles if needed. Well, the past two mornings he went down but didn't sleep, even though he had been showing tired signs. He was fairly happy in his cradle for half an hour or so, but in the end I had to pick him up and he finally slept in my arms. Both arvos I've taken him for a walk to get him to sleep, which has worked, thank god!

On the plus side though, we went 6 hours between feeds last night! So I guess I can put up with a bit of fussiness during the day if that's going to continue! And DH has been home to halp me today, which has been great.

I think I'm going to buy a hugabub so I can carry him around with me if this continues. We already have a couple of carrier things, one of which my mum used on me as a baby and is similar to the hugabub, but neither of them offer a great deal of support for Max's head. I'm quite excited now and can't wait to get my hugabub!

Anyone else using cloth nappies yet? (I think Jo, you said you were?) We are using them part time - I still don't have enough for full time. But have 7 or 8 good OSFA now, so will try to start getting more use out of them. I can't bring myself to use them at night yet though - just can't be bothered dealing with a cloth nappy in the middle of the night!

Speaking of nappies - what disposables do you all use? I had huggies, but the size up from newborn don't seem to come in boxes. I bought one packet and it lasted only about 3 days, so thought stuff that. I've got snugglers now. They're nowhere near as good as huggies, and I've got a whole box to use up I know people always said huggies are the best, but I didn't think it would make that much of a difference...
