Wow-looks like I'm the one to start the ball rolling, lol.

Jess-How is Jaylen going with the FF now??He will be alot more settled now if he wasn't actually getting enough from bf'ing Will you still be doing half & half? Glad to hear you've come to a decision about it all though- I know it was hard for you to consider!

BabyCarriers?? Whats everyone using? I'm considering buying one of those Ergos they're s'posed to be excellent but was hoping for some personal exp's/ recommendations 1st I've done a bit of research & they do sound good...Hmmm.

Jo - How you doin'? You still b/fing bub? Its a hard road isn't it! Its not as easy as some make it look!! And those women who are able to do it without any probs - I'm so envious of them! Lucky, VERY

Will check back in later . Gotta go - you know the story! LOL

Carol- No i've stopped BF my milk was looking watery so i thought it was best to FF Sophie. My BB's were a little sore yesterday (saturday) but i expressed a little to take away the pain/engorment but not enough to stimulate more milk IYKWIM. I got to 5 weeks so i'm happy with that and id rather know Sophie's getting enough and when shes not having a growth spurt shes much more settled, yesterday i fed her 5hrs then after that it was every 2 hrs and the feed i just gave her shed gone 4hrs. I actually layed on the lounge and went to sleep and Chris fed her at midnight i told him to wake me and i woke while he was feeding her but dozed off again he didnt seem to mind but he left me down in the loungeroom on my own all the lights off and took himself & Sophie upstairs to bed so i went up & woke him (he wasnt happy) and asked him why did he didnt wake me too and he said i wanted to sleep which i did but he still could have woken me, i woke up in the dark wondering what the hell was going on haha

    Hi everyone,
Ive been off for a few days I think. Lots of pages to catch up on.

Celeste must be the smallest bub in here now... she was 3.5kg last weigh which was 9days ago. She had her biggest gain that week of 230g. All her other gains were like 160g... My nurse only weighs her, she doesnt do a measure. I will ask her I think cause I want to know her other measurements too. She is still fitting bonds 0000 and only just into some target 0000. Why do sizes vary so much? SHe has heaps of skimpy summer clothes in 000 that I dont know if she will get to wear!

I use a baby bjorn carrier. I didnt want to, even though it was given 2nd hand to me as I read it is bad for their back so I bought a sling but Celeste hates it. She really likes the baby bjorn and I find it really comfy. I only use it when I am doing the grocery shopping or such. Usually I just walk to the shops with the pram so I wont have her in it heaps.

She has lost most of her hair too. And it was beautiful dark red/blonde too. So pretty. It is starting to come back at the front as really light blonde now but she still has the original hair in that old bald man pattern at the back hehehe. She still has heaps of milk pimples too. I think it is from withdrawing from my hormones while still inside. She actually had a little period in the first week too, like coming off the pill lol. And her joints are a bit clicky still too like from the relaxin hormone in pg. I wonder how long till it all goes away? My spotting has finally gone now at 6 weeks so hopefully her hormones settle down now too.

Maz, I love nuttella and eat it with a spoon too. I have been really into it since the birth. I think I am getting the cravings now that I didnt get with pg. hehe. I have stopped having it in the house so I dont get any fatter.

How is everyone going with excercise? I walk with the pram everyday for at least 3km and have done since the day we came home. At first it was pretty slow but now I think I am up to my previous speed. I dont know what to do for my abdominals though. Having had a c-sect I wasnt allowd to use my gym ball or anything till now (6weeks) but am thinking of doing that stuff from now on??

Our washing maching died on thursday. Of course it had to happen with a load of dirty nappies in it!!!!! It was spinning dirty water out of the top of it all over the laundry floor eeeeewwwww. I was happy about it though as I have wanted to get a front loader for ages and now had an excuse and the baby bonus too. Got it the same day and have been catching up on washing ever since. Luckily I had some disposables someone had given us so I put Celeste into them just in case it was going to be days and days till it came. She still fits the huggies newborns but they seem to fill up too quick. She overflows them quite regularly. I think I prefer my MCN.

Our BF is going extremely well. I am soooo happy after the first two weeks which were hell in that department. I have found a much more comfortable position and dont need the 57pillows I needed at first. I have even fed in front of all the family and in a cafe and the pub dining room!!! Very proud of myself as I was dreading doing it in public. (or even in front of the inlaws) I feel like the first two weeks were the hardest, the next two a lot better and since then much much easier. It takes a while I guess for a baby to work out what she needs to do and for me to understand everything.

As for sleeping: Celeste feeds around 5pm and goes off to bed at 6pm . I wake her around 9pm or she would go for ages, then she goes back to bed around 10pm till around 1am, feeds again at 5am and back to bed till 8.30ish am. Sometimes she is hard to get back to sleep in the night and we are up for one or two hours but occasionally it is only 30mins we are up for. By we I mean me hehe, DH is always asleep! Then she is awake from her 8.30am feed for an hour or two where I do her nappy free time on a rug and play with her, read to her or whatever and around 11am she has another feed and will sleep then for a bit and I use that time to put her in the pram for a walk, do shopping, whatever. She has another couple of feeds and spends more time awake till her 5pm feed then back to the start!

Is it possible to have colic and reflux both??? I feel Celeste does, but neither particularly badly. I have her on Colic relief but havent given anything for reflux. I wonder if she has it or if it is the wind bringing up a bit of milk when a burp comes? Sometimes she will scream in her sleep and wake up crying and I find she has milky bubbles on her lips or has done a big spew in her sleep. It is definately the acid smell of vommit, not just 'spilling'. What do you think ladies?

Well, off to bed again for a bit I think while the washing machine does its thing and my girl is still asleep. Hope you all have a good sunday!

ETA: oooh forgot to say about the smiling. I swear Celeste is smiling in the photos where I am holding her just after she was born!!!!! She did give a fleeting glimpse of a smile at around 3days while looking right into my eyes but the doctor said it was "just a response". I dont know, I think it was real. Anyhow her first "real" smile that lasted more than a second was at almost 2weeks. SOOOOOOO gorgeous! I got one on camera within a day or two and put it on the thank you cards that I made. Since about 4 1/2weeks she has started to giggle a bit too. It makes my heart burst. I often think of the John Denver song "Annies song" that goes "you fill up my senses...." when I think of her. Anyhow, enough mushy mummy talk hehe.

    good morning everyone!

Amy had an awful day yesterday. She was so unsettled. Every time I put her down for a sleep after her feed she would whinge. She had about 3 hours proper sleep all day and the rest was napping in my arms. Not sure why. I'm going to go buy some different formula today. Not sure whether to go Karicare or Nan. Might look at both of them and see the difference......Karicare was recommended.....but then again everyone raves about Nan......am just waiting for Amy to go to sleep after a feed this morning. She had a bit of bb and then half her bottle (I put 120ml in) and then pretty much fell asleep and wouldn't take anymore so I'm hoping she goes down. Just a question for ff mums, do your bubs wait 4 hourly or do you do small feeds more regularly? I seem to waste a lot of formula sometimes because Amy doesn't want it all. I guess it doesn't help that I'm bf too sometimes so I have no idea how much she's getting from that.....

Thanks to everyone for their bub's routine. Sounds pretty similar to Amy. Last night I fed her at 8 pm and she went down at 9.30 and slept through to her 3am feed. Prob because she was so tired after yesterday. Would love it if she made that her routine though. Got some unbroken sleep!

Jess - hope the ff is going well. His poos will really stink even with half half. I'm still getting used to them and we've been doing half half for almost a month now!

Carol - I bought a second hand baby carrier of a friend. It's no special brand but it does the trick. I'm going to brave the shops today with her in it....it's too tricky shopping on your own with a pram. I bought a bubba moe sling but she hates being cradled, even in your arms so it's no good for Amy. Some babies love them though. Wasted a bit of money but it was worth a try and it might come in handy for the next one......it seems a bit uncomfortable though......

Have a great day ladies. I'm sure I'll be back on here if Amy actually sleeps today. Someone told me that she was probably unsettled cos it was really windy yesterday. I find that I'm a little irritable on windy days so maybe that was it......? Who knows!?? Heheheh. chat soon xxx Luv Nik and Amy

Nik, I noticed all my customers were really grumpy on windy days, me too! Maybe that was it. Celeste was later in the day too when it came through here.

I talked to a friend who has 4 kids. Her 4month old hated his sling when little too but he loves it now that he can sort of sit up in it. She puts him with his legs in a frog style and he is supported that way by the fabric so can sit up. I am going to keep using the baby bjorn as Celeste prefers being upright but will give the sling another try later when she can sit in it.

I'm here Jess, was letting Sophie have tummy time and play time shes had a feed of 40mls and is now asleep and now i'm just watching the cricket & getting in a bit of crocheting.

Sazz- exercise HAHA whats that again. The only exercise i manage is walking around the house or the shops when we go out, where we live its kinda hard to go walking with the pram as our street is situated at the top of a massive hill and there always seems to be stray dogs around. Some of Sophie's 0000 are getting to be a bit tight but still ok for now plus some 0000 are still big i guess it depends where you buy them from everywhere is different.

Nik- sorry to hear Amy had a unsettled day yesterday, Sophie had an awake & hungry day yesterday and today started off the same and i just fed her then she took 40-50mls and has gone back to sleep so daddy and Sophie are having nap time at the moment. Sophie generally goes 3-5hrs between feeds and the formula i use makes up 160mls each bottle and Sophie takes 120mls of that as shes not use to taking 160mls yet so im not concerned that she leaves 40mls.

Carol- i was given a Tomy Safari by SIL havent used it yet and not sure what the feedback is on it.

Sophie's only lost the hair on the back of her head she has the rest of her hair, some of it is still fluffy but most is long and i've NO idea what colour its going to be it looks different all the time blonde/reddish/brown.

Sazz- Thats what I did with Cara my 1st born Every morning I'd hit the f/paths for a walk & I always enjoyed it too! But with 2 of them its just too tricky. And Jackson isn't always happy in his pram & he doesn't seem to like carriers either and I certainly dont want to carry him especially with a 3 yo as well!

Jess - Glad everything is sorted with you & you're feeling content. You'd be getting a bit more rest too now!

Funny because a few ppl told me that Jackson would lose his hair but it still looks pretty lush too me! LOL. Maybe there still is time for that to happen, I've been watching carefully for any hair loss so far... Its strange that I've been washing his hair for weeks whereas with Cara she really didn't have any so just a bit of a wash with soap was all that was neededI've got so much to put on Ebay its incredible!! Oh well. better go.

    Hi lovelies!

Another thread hey? We're getting our momentum back up again... he he he!

Jess, as Nik said (I think it was you Nik), it's ok to make up the formula in advance. I have read that 24 hours is ok but then the MHN said 12 hours just to be safe. Easy. I make 3 up in the morning for the day ahead, then do 3 at night to take me through to the morning. Sometimes make up more. I am using the NAN HA 1 - for allergies.

Did you get just normal bottles or the wide neck ones? When you say newborn bottles, you mean the teats, yes? Teats are giving me a headache lately. I bought the Avent and T/Tippee wide neck bottles with the flasho teats on them and they are WAY to fast. It goes all over him. It's pi**ing me off. So, I've had to go back to the normal bottles and am using Pigeon brand size SMALL teats. They seem to go too slow though. I can't get it right. Trial and error I guess.

That bottle warmer you were talking about - is it just for the car or inside as well? Can you let me know if you get it how it is? I really want one.

Nik, Billy won't settle after his morning feed usually. I hate it if I happen to feed at about 5am because then he stays up! He's usually happy to just lay in his cot and talk to himself but still, then he gets overtired. Grrr! Good one on Amy's weight gain too! Also, thanks for the info on DTD - I expect it will hurt some if I ever get around to it. Might just get drunk. pmsl! Just joking.

Jo, Nik, Jess... what are your bub's poos like? BTK has been doing this rotten, pastey, dark greenish/blackish/brownish/yellowish stuff that STINKS! Is that normal for formula or what? On the S26, he was constipated so this is better but just wondering if it's meant to be like this. Might be the NAN formula. Will have to ask the nurse too.

Jen, awesome - DFO - I haven't been yet. I'd LOVE to go. Sounds like Amber is getting into a bit of a routine now. Thank goodness!!! You let me know when you're ready to shop and we'll go! WOO HOO! I haven't been to Cotton On Kids yet but sounds great!

Mary - pmsl about Addy's hair. Sounds the same as Billy's. He just looks like a little old man.

Jo, what bottles and teats are you using???

Sazz, Billy HATES the Bubba Moe sling I bought him. I am hoping once he's a bit bigger he might like it - when he won't feel all swallowed up by it. I didn't want to use a Baby Bjorn either and so far, he hates that also. What to do hey? ha ha! He also has quite a few of those pimples and a little rash thingy on his face. Exercise? Sh*t. I've done nothing. I feel SO lazy. Think I'll move up near Maz and get onto her fitness bandwagon!

Is it not normal that Billy has been smiling for weeks? Even the MHN said he was smiling on our first visit. Now he is nearly giggling etc.

Took Billy out to Mum's aunt's 80th today. Was ok but he decided he couldn't miss anything so he stayed awake the whole afternoon! When we go home, by the time I got his bottle warmed (in the microwave I might add) he was screaming his head off and had turned the colour of a beetroot. Poor bugger. Then he had his bottle and wouldn't settle. Just screamed. He eventually fell asleep in my arms. He must've just been so overtired.

OK, new pet hate - people holding Billy. I think people should wait to be offered a hold - not just assume they can. I knew he was tired today and wanted him to sleep in my arms but they all wanted to hold him and it really pi**ed me off. No wonder he was so grumpy when we got home.

Michael and his ex are now arguing over custody. She won't even consider going 50/50. She has also said she won't move out now until it's sorted. The little girl has to stay there in the house as she's just started high school up there. They were going to let her stay there with him til end of term then she's have to change schools as the mum wants to move quite a way away. Michael has said he will move to wherever they are and sell his house, so that they can share. But, NOPE. The only one going to get hurt here is the daughter. It's so sad. I'm glad I'm not involved and actually feel like I have acted quite well in comparison to her. Glad it's not my life!

I forgot what else I was going to say. Oh yeah, Maz, my mate isn't going up to Shepp this week but I might anyway. Will just see how the $$$ is looking. Will call anyway.

Right, going to make up bottles. Back later.

    Hi girls,

We just got back from a day of visiting Nanna in Rochester and then Nanny and Russell (yep my dad is called Russell) in Bendigo. Amber slept a little in the car on the way up. She didnt sleep at Nanna's, she dozed in the car on the way to Bendigo, didnt sleep with Nanny and she slept a little on the way home. Now she is in bed after a mountain of feeding! She got herself a little dehydrated today as she was hot so we did a lot of feeding. Luckily we had 60ml of EBM at home to give her when we got home. My poor boobies will be drained for hours!

Routine??? Whats that? Nah we dont have one of them yet. She goes down between 8-11 and sleeps about 5-6 hours, I do a feed and then she sleeps for another 4 or so hours. During the day we are finding it very tough to get her to go down. We can usually get 4 or so hour from her after a lot of going into her room to pat her or put her dummy in... But she's 2 and a half weeks so I will persevere a little longer. I would love to start a routine but from what I have read the first 2 weeks you girls had it tough and it sort of eases after that...

We have a baby bjorn. Was second hand from ebay but she LOVES it. We have worn it to the shops twice and she goes to sleep in it. She is getting used to her pram. We have taken her on a few short walks in it and she no longer screams.

We are still bf for now. I will keep doing so while I have milk and can seemingly keep her happy.

Might go to bed while DD is sleeping.

    a good night to all

Jen, sounds like a good day mate. Nice one. Yeah, first 2 weeks definitely sucked. It will settle down, for sure.

Jess, he must be hungry! he he he!

I forgot to say, Jo, pmsl at you waking up in the dark not knowing what was going on. I think I've been feeling like that since I got home from hospy, don't you?

    Fark, I'm tired.

Sazz- forgot to say yesterday when i posted that its good to hear things are going really well for you.
Maz- Sophie's heading towards 000 also depending what brand of 0000 i put on her they r getting to be too small WOOHOO. I've stopped BF but i'm happy to FF Sophie. Now did you get the DVD i sent you?. Nice one on getting your business back up and running again, i can only imagine how expensive the time in Melb was for you guys.

Jess- Sounds like youve found what works for you and your little man. Jaylen's a growing boy he might just be having his 4 week growth spurt which could be why he's drinking so much, every 2weeks so far Sophie drinks heaps and often so dont be too concerned as he'll only drink as much as he can fit in and no more. Yesterday every bottle i gave Sophie she'd only finish half of it before going to sleep but i fed her about 30mins ago and she took 120mls so not sure what was going on yesterday. Sophie is sometimes awake for an hour after her feed before she goes to sleep either on her own or with a dummy in her mouth and either way shes wrapped up.

Kate- back to your novel writing best i see :P, we'll be up to thread 33 in no time haha. Sophie's poos are like a soft paste and greenish/yellowish in colour and there has been a bit of black/dark green in the last few days. Sophie seemed constipated on the s26 gold too so i swapped to the Nan 1 gold from birth and she seems alot better. The bottle warmer i've seen is an Avent one and its $80 and does food & bottles Big W/Target, the baby shops we have here and the chemists have had them i'm thinking about getting one too. I'm using Avent Naturally bottles and Avent size '2' teats, at first shed just dribble the milk with the size '2' teats but Sophies learnt to control the flow again herself, the only reason i'm using Avent is Chris got a newborn Avent pack at a good price from the baby shop. **** how annoying is it when people just assume they are getting to have a hold of bubs!!, we went out Friday night to a friend of Chris so he could play poker and i got the pram while Chris carried Sophie inside and i walk in the door to see this friends wife holding Sophie and i'm not sure whether Chris just gave Sophie to her or she took Sophie from Chris but pretty much as soon as id put the pram out of the way she was like you can go to mummy again now, maybe i had a flithy look on my face im not sure, might i add i cant stand this woman. Sorry but Michael's ex sounds like a TOTAL idiot being so childish about the custody, as you said the only person getting punished is the daughter, compared to this woman Kate your a saint, to me it sounds like this woman is jealous you & Michael are getting along. I KNOW what a total blonde moment i had waking up not knowing what was going on, i'm getting ALOT better at knowing whats going on with Sophie and Chris doesnt tell me what i should be doing anymore geez that was driving me barmy and making me feel stupid i tell ya.

Jen- things will get easier, the first few weeks is tough an all about finding out what works for you & bubs.
