Megan - YUMM, wizz fizz. I haven't had one of those for ages! Now you've put me in the mind to hunt them out for the lolly bags I'm doing for Liam's party. Poor little Lucas being sick for his own party. I have to say I'll be glad when they're older just so that they're a little more robust, all these winter illnesses are hard work.
Ami - spending some birthday time with great grandparents etc is such a lovely thing to do, and lucky Elliot to have so much family. Isn't it cute what they'll learn when there are other kids that they love around. Liam's the same - he picks things up just by watching his cousins & friends. Eek for 60 people at his party though, the RSL sounds like a very wise venue.
Jess - how's Ethan's rash?? Has it improved, have you been to the dr with it yet? Do you have keys to the drs surgery yet, you seem to have the worst luck with Ethan being sick. Hopefully his 2nd year is going to be a whole heap easier for you.
Em - how cute that Tom loved his Happy birthday song. I'm so looking forward to giving Liam his presents, as I'm bored with the ones that he's got at the moment, can't wait to retire them.
V - fingers crossed that the Perth weather trend changes and you get a fine weekend for Avaleigh's party. The balloons sound like fun, are you going to do a colour theme??
well, we've had a little breakthrough in our house - finally Liam has worked out how to drink water from his sipper cup! Sure, he'll suck it out into his mouth and then decide to be a fountain with it, but I don't mind, because at least I can go to his 12 month checkup and be able to say that he is at least able to drink. And it's quite funny having your own wriggling water fountain.
Anyway, going to make myself a cuppa and wait for DF to get home from the footy. Hopefully he's had a good night, but he's a Saints supporter, so could be anyone's guess...
Jan - Well done to Liam for drinking from the cup...the fountain sounds pretty amusing! My DH is a Hawks supporter so i would imagine your DF got home in a better mood!!
Hello lovely ladys How are we all? I have been sooooo Busy the last few days getting the house ready for our Interstate visitors that start arriving on thursday and today i have been out the back hosing down the patio and putting tarps up and setting up fridge's and tables so i dont have to do it when i have family here and as im goin to be busy making food thro the week today is da only day i have to do it.. I have had to do it all myself as DP is at our new house (coz its got the BIG shed and hoist) fitting a new Turbo to his XR6... Wat is it with men and cars.....
While i was out hosing, Bayleigh was walking in front of the hose he ended up drenched LOL so i ran a warm bath for him once i got him out he went straight to the back door and was laughing at the hose he was all tense and had the shakes he was that excited... Anyway i got him dressed and asked DD to keep an eye on him while i finished off outside and she got busy watching tv and Bayleigh ended up at the back door so i yelled out to her to cum and grab him before he fell down the step(he has worked out steps but the back step is abit to big) anyway as she came to the dorr and ask me wat i said to her he fell head first onto the pavers and he screamed i droped the hose and ran to him and piked him up and he has a huge graze on his forehead above his right eye and his nose was bleeding the poor thing but as soon as i gave him a cuddle he stoped crying and started to laugh as he could see the hose and becoz it was on as hard as i could turn the tap on it started to snake around and of course i then ended up drenched LOL Bayleigh thought that was a huge joke and really had a cackle going......
Ok personals i think i remeber everything that was said on the last page...
Ami- You sound as silly as me but i think i could be a lil bit more sillier LOL Im having the party at home and making the food myself .... We have about as many people coming for bayleighs party as you are for Elliots Party....We invited over 100 people but all my family live in melb and just my dads side there is over 40 relos..... I love my family but im a lil thankfull most of them cant make it up....
Jess- Hope ethan is feeling better.... How is he going?
Em- i had to laugh the other night we were watching something on telly and bayleigh heard the Happy Birthday song and he started goin really silly and was dancing around laughing and running in circles.... Hope he not gunna do dat when we sing happy birthday next weekend LOL
V- Did you work out ya budget? Im sure Avaleighs party will be fine... You reminded me i need to get a bunch of balloons delivered here on thursday for Bayleighs Birthday He will love it when the delivier driver hands them to him.... We were in LOMBARDS the other day and they had decorations and so on hanging from the roof and bayleigh kept falling over as he had his head right back walking along looking at the roof... Have you found out from your friend regarding the pregnancy.. It seems all abit strange to me.....
Jan- Yay on LIam drinking from a sipper.... Bayleigh has gone off his sippers now. He will only drink out of his lil pump water Bottle... LOL at the fountain How cute....
I cant remember wat else was said DOH DPcame home for lunch and started talkin to me about cars and now i have forgotten
Just a Question what and how much food are you all now give to your bubbies for meals???????
Well gunna go and have sum lunch and then head back outside to finish off the yard
Sarah - not good about Bayleigh falling down and giving himself a big graze, but he sounds so cute with all the laughing at the hose. Wouldn't it be nice if they could be that easy to entertain & distract when they turn into teenagers!
As for food, we're not a good measure, as Liam really struggles to eat very much at all compared to other kids. Breakfast is still usually rice cereal with a tablespoon or so of stewed apple. I have introduced rice porridge with dried fruit over the last few days as an alternative, and I've tried vita-brits, but he hates those. I reckon breakfast on a good day would be 3 tablespoons of food all up. Lunch he eats a 1/2 to 2/3 slice of bread with vegemite or avocado, and just over the last week has started eating a cheese slice as well. Although if he sees the cheese first then he won't eat the sandwich. Sometimes in the afternoon I give him some apple & yogurt, again maybe 2-3 tablespoons. Dinner is maybe half a cup to 2/3 cup of vegies & meat. When we're out & about I give him chopped up dates as a treat, which he loves, also some dried mango slices (cut into 1cm bits). And still b/f's in between most of these meals.
Speaking of food, someone's just out of his bath, better go get his dinner ready or there'll be strife.
I've got the WORST ovulation pains right now hey, I've never experienced this one before!! I told Jason that if he wants to have a boy then we should be doing it now!! But he wasnt on board with that one!!
Avaleigh and I went to my friend's baby shower today. I didnt know anyone there so it kind of sucked PLUS the party was on the second story of the house and there was a spiralling stair case that I was worried about Avaleigh falling down. And the house wasnt baby proofed and everyone was leaving there drinks, cups and food on the edge of the coffee table. So I was only there for a short while cause I was too stressed! But atleast I made an appearance...
I've been thinking about asking this food question too! Avaleigh is on 1 1/2 wheatbix with 1/2 mashed banana and milk for breakfast. For lunch she has been having toast with melted cheese or toast with some sort of spread and then I give Avaleigh some yogurt or 1/4 apple, kiwi fruit. The past few days I have been giving Avaleigh a kraft single - she absolutely loves it! Eats every single last bit. For dinner its vegie's or vegies and meat followed by fruit or yogurt. We give snacks too, she was been trying the heinz yogurt muesli bar or the honey/oat banna/oat biscuits - they have been a pretty big hit! I'm also trying her on some meat from my dinner cause she is not a big meat eater, only meat I can get Avaleigh to eat is from the baby food can.
I have a question.. how are the bubs eating their food these days? Pureed, mashed, whole? Avaleigh still has alot pureed cause she is a bit lazy around dinner time! I've been wanted to go to mashed but not sure how that will go down. Better try it one of these days!
Are any bubs self feeding with a spoon yet???
Gee, look at the time. Got to go to my sis's for dinner for her birthday. Hopefully Avaleigh will be ok, I've been getting her in to bed by 7pm these days cayse she is not having an afternoon nap. Fingers crossed she will be ok with a late night!
Oh Sarah, poor Bayleigh! He must be a tough little cookie. Maybe he is just getting you prepared now for all those years of little boy scrapes and bruises!
We are probably not a great comparison foodwise either as Autie is quite small. She will normally have: breakfast - 1/2 to 3/4 avocado,1/3 banana, maybe 1/4 piece of toast with vegemite...lunch - about 1/2 cup of bolognaise/casserole/risotto, few pieces of banana or 1/2 piece of bread sandwich with hommus/vegemite/avocado/melted cheese...dinner - tonight was fairly big - 1/2 large chicken thigh fillet steamed, couple of steamed potato pieces, a steamed baby carrot, little pile of grated cheese and apple, 1/3 banana. Sometimes I give her morning or afternoon tea (not always, depends on sleeps and timing etc.) That would be grated apple, sultanas, banana, mini rice cake or oatmeal biscuit or vegemite/vegetable rusk. She only drinks water (about 1 1/2 cups a day) and milk (about 500ml). HTH
Em, glad the party went well. How cute that Tom loved the birthday song - Autie didn't at all, except for the hooray at the end, then she clapped.
Jess, how's Ethan's rash? And how are you feeling?
LOL Ami, don't some ads just give you the heebies? There was one I actually used to switch channels to avoid but I can't remember what it was now. Crap memory. The RSL sounds like a smart move to me. We had our party in a park and came home to a nice, clean house of peace and quiet when Autie had had enough. Brilliant.
Megan, that's good news Lucas is feeling better. What a bummer he was poorly for his party I hear you on the noisy kids - learnt my lesson at Autie's baptism party, hence the birthday party in the park! Does whizzfizz still come with a lolly tongue-depressor type thing to eat it? I remember making my tongue bleed with all the dipping and sucking! LOL Dan is also a Hawks supporter because Michael Osborne is his cousin - I have to admit, I prefer rugby. Though those AFL boys sure do have good bods...
Jan, Hooray Liam! Autie has a straw cup and her thing is to take on every offer but squirt it back out down her shirt if she didn't actually want any The mango sounds good, does it have preservatives? I'm on the lookout for dried fruit without the nasties but I haven't had much luck.
Well, Autie has started getting up on her own and walking off though there's still a lot of balance work to go. She sleeping like absolute **** so I'm constantly saying to Dan 'Actually, it could be ____ (insert any possible cause)' It better be temporary, that's all I know. SIL just gave us a climber slide, little tikes coupe car and a bunch of toys - very happy as I want to make up some sort of outdoor play area. And I think that's all our news. Oh, I just had a Magnum Ego for dinner.
Hey Sasha,
the mango is preservative, chemical & additive free, so it's a winner in my book. I get it from the Health food store in our local shopping centre, and the brand is Executive Sweets. It's also a product of Australia. Not cheap, about $7.50 for a 100g pack, but that's about 15 slices or so of mango, and by the time I cut it up into small pieces it goes a long way. Except if I start eating it.... The health shop also stocks some snap dried apple, which from memory, is organic & preservative free as well. I also find the apple more-ish, but Liam isn't overly fussed about it yet. The only other things I can remember about the apple, cos I don't have any in the house at the moment, is that it comes from Red Hill, on the mornington peninsula, and it's around $3 for a pack.
Autie sounds like my neighbours little girl - smallish, but can eat Liam under the table! I sometimes wish Liam was a little better at his eating, but then I remind myself that he's active, happy & certainly no light weight, so he's probably just being very good at self regulation - a skill I wish my stomach had
I just wanted to pop in and say Happy birthday to Tom, Elliot and Noah!!!
Sorry I didn't get in over the weekend. It was my birthday and had a heap of organising to do for me,lach and the wedding.
OMG its soooooooooooooooo quiet in here. It must be the calm before the storm, before all these babies turn 1 and their parties on the weekend.
I have been MIA, sorry. I just have had so much on my plate ATM, my sister is going through a bad break-up, Jacks hand, both kids illnesses, and now I'm crook as a dog myself. Oh, listen to me, wa wa wa wa. I sound terrible or whinging. Sorry again, lol.
Anyway, I'm guessing all of you are organising little birthday parties or trying to recover from them.
Just quickly checking in. Sorry I too have been MIA... I've been so busy lately trying to get the house ready and looking into a new business. Also with Oscar's birthday on Sunday I have been getting organised for that!
I don't have time to read back through everything but HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the bubbas bdays I have missed.
Mel- Just quickly... you poor thing You guys really can't catch a break at the moment can you? Vent away hun, we don't mind. How is Jack's hand going? I hope you are all feeling better soon.
I better get a move on and get to bed. I am EXHAUSTED!! DH and I went to see The Dark Knight last night and didn't get home until 12.30am!! Anyway... go and see it!! It is fantastic and I was in awe of Heath Ledger... he was amazing in it! Ok lovely ladies and BIG 1 year old bubbas and bubbas to be! Night night xx
Mel- Hope you and your family are feeling better soon.
Sacha- Woohoo on Auties walking, hope the sleep situation gets easier for you
Jess- How is Ethans rash? Did it turn out to be chickenpox?
V- Tayah has both mashed and whole food. As for the self feeding she is giving it a go but its VERY messy.
Jan- Yay for Liam working out how to drink from his sippy cup. Tayah still wont drink from hers, I have to hold just a normal cup for her to get her to drink any water.
Tayah had her 12month check up this week and she now weighs 9.4kg and is 75cm long. The ECHN that I seen was so rude and was having a go at me about everything. When we first got there Tayah was walking towards a toy that was under a table and was about 2 steps off hitting her head so I said 'watch your head Tay' and the nurse fully got up me about it, saying how was she ever going to develop spacial awareness if I am telling her to watch her head and that it wont kill her if she bumps her head from time to time. She also said I shouldnt offer her choices like saying 'do you want a drink or would you like some more food etc that I should just say 'have a drink' and 'eat some more' and that choices shouldnt be given until she's a toddler. Then when we were talking about Tayah's tongue tie and I mentioned that I had a tongue tie which was snipped, she asked if she could see it and so I poked my tongue out and she noticed my tongue was pierced and said 'Did your mother want to slap you in the face when you got that done?' I couldnt beleive it, what F-ing business is it of hers whether or not I have my tongue pierced. She said a whole lot more too but I want bore you with it.
Well I have finally got everything I need for Tayah's 'pink' party on Saturday and I am so excited. I think I may have gone a little overboard with all the decorations that I have bought but I couldnt help myself. Once I got into the party shop its like someone else took over and just kept buying. Ah well she'l only turn 1 once.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIAM
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AVALEIGH

Well we had Bayleighs 12mth check at the health nurse yesterday morning... Health nurse told me i have a very cheeky healthy funny 12 mth old. LOL He has only put on 500 grms in 2 months so he weighs 8.8kg but she not worried about it as he is a very very active baby and is always on the go..

Im goin to making the cake on friday when my step sister arrives from melb....
Tomorrow night we are goin out for tea with friends that cant make it to the party of saturday and we have asked DP EX wife if we could have DStepS for a 2 hours and she actually agreed and agreed with out any stipulations(sp) (normally if we ask for a few xtra hours she says we have to repay her back as we are asking for time in HER time with DstepS or she just says no coz its her time with him) so we were all taken aback.... but im so happy he gets to spend time with Bayleigh for his birthday coz when bayleigh was born DStepS didnt get to meet bayleigh till bayleigh was nearly a week old as his mum wouldnt let us bring DStepS to the hospital to meet him
