There are many issues that you will encounter as a new parent. We have put together this list of useful articles and threads in order to assist you with some common questions or issues you may have, and to provide you with bit of extra support that we all need as new parents:
Please contact the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) or a Lactation Consultant if you are concerned that you may have breastfeeding and/or supply problems, and before the introduction of solids.
I am in the process of making a cake for my Goddaughters birthday, I am attempting to make a treaure map cake, we will see how well I do. I will post pics when I am done.
I hope the Melb girls had a great meet today
your all so talented in the kitchen , i dont even know how to make soup unless it comes with instructions ( ie: 2 minute noodles ) ... poor DH - ahh well , I warned him He wont be getting fed much but I can take him for a flight if i ever update my lapsed licence!
Dee - im with everyone else when I say ( no offence ) that your DF is completely unfair. Lachlan is both of yours , and the responsibility and stress etc should be halfed aswell. I think your doing a great job, I cant imagine how hard it must be for you. Like Ali said, try calling a counseling line maybe?? Keep calling and going everywhere you can until someone gives you the assistance you deserve. Poor little Lachlan , he must be so tired.. I wish I could help somehow , if anything ewo747@gmail.com my email is available for you to vent your frustration as often as you like
Yes we did! Just uploaded a couple of piccys at my photobucket site. My camera was full of photos that I hadn't transferred yet so could only take 2 sorry! But we are keen to do it again soon so will take more then...
I swore i took a piccy of IK... just after she put on her HAB... what happened to it??? Oh no....
Dee: Along with the others I agree: NEVER feel bad about "being negative" in here! This is what it's all about! And yes your DP really needs to take more responsibilty for little Lockie.... also, seek help from your Mum... it might just tide you over until Lockie gets over this phase of his life... and that's what it is... just a phase... it's not forever
just uploaded some pics today on my website too. There is a pic of Bath & Niall & IK & Oscar!
it was great to catch up, i think we could make it a montly thing or something.
Dee- sorry to hear your having a hard time with Lachlan. I agree with what the others have said & maybe get some help off your mum, but what about ringning a support group for suggestions? (i know u may have already been down this road) DH needs to ease up on you too, u are doing an amazing job but when he comes home he should help you out. Its not ALWAYS your job to settle him.
Jess_ look forward to hearing more from you now your back online Also Happy 4 months to Niall & Aneta!!
Oh also had MCHN appoint today.
Nixons stats
weight: 7.2kg (up 1.2kg in 6weeks)
Length: 66.5cm (up 4.5cm in 6 weeks)
HC: 42.2cm (up 1.5cm in 6weeks)
so he has really beefed up alot now, he is in about 10% for hc, 50% for length & between 10-50percentile for weight. Who would ever know he was a prem!
Nic: hope you don't mind if I copy some of those pics you took? I've added them to my site too... IK: for privacy I've only used your initials... if I've breached any other privacy issues with other Junies just let me know and I'll edit it.
ETA: When my DH was leaving the office he over heard one of his female colleagues saying that she was going to wear the same outfit as last year to the races as well so now he says it doesn't matter so much if I do too... LOL it's so funny when guys stress about stuff like this.
yay, the pics!
Just quickly cos we're going out for dinner and a movie with friends...
Dee - kick to the head is what I feel like delivering to your DF. I can't put it delicately - I know you love him and don't like to criticise him, but he's got it coming from what I've read in and between your lines!
Wish I could write more but I have to go and get out of these trackies...
Hey NIc, just checked out your site, both my boys are gorgeous Oh, you guys are good looking too :P
Bath, I liked your piccies too, thank goodness you didnt have too much memory on your camera, otherwise you could've gotten more pics of me... OMG!!! Just joking. Anyway, there'll be LOTS more meetups where we will have plenty of opportunities for photo's
Today was such fun, pity we are spread all over the country, all you guys would've had a heap of fun. We just cruised... it was hard getting around a multi-level shopping complex with 5 large prams though!! we generally had to do 3 shifts on the lifts, i know every time me (and whoever else) were waiting, we'd always forget to press the lift button as we were too busy talking!! We went all over!! Unfortunately NIc and Bath had to leave about 3, but me, IK and rory ended up sitting at Gloria Jeans drinking coffee and chatting away... I had the Choc Chip Cheesecake. I can still feel it on my hips!! It was good fun and as bath said, we're hoping to do it again in a couple of weeks, and we'll get loads of photo's then
For those that did come, thank you. I had such a great day, and i cant wait to do it again

: adding more and more...
Took Aleise back to doctor's today - never seeing her again will update you about that soon! Aleise has bronchilitis and apparently nothing can be given for it and it has to run its course. Was told "is a very mild case"..
The doc rambled on about her paed quals (cough, cough) and was rude to me. I asked "is it worth having a script of antibiotics in case she gets worse?" and I was told "absolutely not". She also told me not to dress her in what they term "Asylum suit" for bed (ie sleeping bag). That cow knows I had issues with PND and I can't believe she said that! She mentioned it like 5 times in conversation. MAtt thinks she was joking but I think it was a small dig at me. She was good with Aleise but after paying $45 I got a printout about bronchilitis and insulted! Never seeing her again! I got home and balled my eyes out!
Next time I need to have a pap smear I'm seeing antother female doc. Seeing another doc on Tuesday who knows her and will make an "informal" complaint so hopefully it will get back to her. Honestly where do "professionals" get off??
The down side is that sometimes when her husband is behind in time she picks up the slack so its possible I may get asked if I can see her instead - well if that happens I'll say "no thanks!".
Melbourne meet up pics: Very nice indeedy! Gee you are all soooo lucky you're not carrying extra kilos. I really have to get off my butt and loose 10-15kg. Am the same weight now when I fell preg but no longer on medication that makes me put on weight. Also a different shape after the pregnancy. Being 5" 2 it all shows!
Sorry no personals - still really upset by what happened. Oh .. good to see you back again Simone and Jess.
HEy neeny - i posted about Aleise's bronch in ask pro's thread, just a few little things... Unfortunately antibiotics wont work, they said the same thing with Anneliese, but then she got pnuemonia, which i though was really bad, but it acutally help get srid of the bronch and can be treayed with anti-b's. Things take strange turns sometimes. Just hope she will get better at home, and not end up in hospital. All mine ended up in hospital when they get it, Xander ended up an asthmatic and i know Anneliese will be one... You listne to your instincts and trust them. Us mum's are generally right... (om me if you want to know anything, need anything or just need to talk/vent... im here )
Hey girls,
Just a quick one as i really should be in bed.
I got some of my blood tests back....I am NOT pregnant!!! My cholestrol level is normal andso is my blood sugar level, don't know about hormone wise as haven't been told anything yet, so my TTC #2 might be put off until we are certain everything is working as it should be.
Tee can now stand up by her self, but you have to pull her up and then she's right she can't pull herself up though, she is really good at sit-ups too she is trying to get herself to sit up, and she just can't get the jist of it thats why it looks like sit-ups.
You all sound like you are doing well and all bubs are growing up 2 fast!!!
gtg DF is nagging as he wants a bit tonight and its getting later and later....mightn't give any to him LOL let him beg, gee i am so mean.
Hope you all have had a good start for the weekend.
Piccies are great, glad you all had a good day.
Dee - big hugs, I really wish I could help. Dh and I had similar issues with our 1st , it's so tough on you, i agree with the others and get your mum to stay, just that bit of support and temporary break is what you need. I know it will be hard when she goes, but just use the time with her as a way of getting a bit of your sanity back. I too would be interested in a Sydney meet, not up to travelling far at moment tho, Nathan is not to good in the car and I live in the hills district - public transport is shocking.
Neeny - some people have no idea, glad you have another appt.
KL - glad results were ok
Karen - A sydney meet up sounds great, who else is in Sydney???
Neeny - Sorry about your appointment, i too, have had a bad time with professionals, you turn to them for help and they just seem to make things worse and if thats not enough, make you feel bad in the process. Im glad you have another appointment!
Im glad the Melbourne meet up went well, im very jelous, i wish i was there.
Oh dear, gotta go, Lachlan has had his whole 20 min sleep!!!!!
neeny - sorry to hear about Aleise's bronchiolitis - DS#1 had that a couple of times between 4mths and 1 year but never ended in hosp thankfully for any of them. Sorry to hear you had a bad GP - one thing mine always told me was even though they thought it was bronchiolitis to take him back anytime I thought it was getting worse and not to feel bad about it - there are compassionate GPs out there it sometimes is just hard to find them. You'll find most docs will hold off on antibiotics these days due to overuse and what they said is true bronchilotis won't be improved by antibiotics as it is viral anyway have to go get son out of pool BBL
