Prama don't forget to get some rest in the day. I have to constantly remind myself that just because I've gotten used to less sleep/managing a little one doesn't mean I don't need a nanna nap! Also maybe some iron tablets or a multi-vitamin.

Danni you'll soon be addicted to cloth nappies. What sort did you buy? I'm finding it quite easy to manage the washing especially now that you don't have to soak them.

I thought Paddy had outgrown his wind but it came back with avengence last night. He sobbed his little heart out and crashed at 10.45pm after lots of farts. Slept till 445am which was good. I bought some Infants friend today and it seems to have worked a treat. I tried infacol but didn't seem to make much difference.

    Good night

Had a fairly good night so I feel rested but tired..... getting so many smiles from DJ now, it is sooooo cute, I totally melt Yesterday, I went out for a 35 min walk with DJ and pram which really works you out especially up hills!!! So, going to try go to for a walk again today if I can especially since it is another nice day.

Prama - I am really tired too, but I just have to remind myself to get some sleep when DJ is asleep. Hope all goes well. Let me know how you go. You know after us talking about attachment, now DJ is starting to play up on attaching, by not opening his mouth wide enough.

Teachmum - same with DJ, such a problem with him so when its bad and we can see he is in pain I just give him Donnalix and it seems to settle him down a bit. Looking forward to the 10-12 week mark coz I was told wind should calm down a bit for him. Lets hope.

Question - I have always had engorged breasts when breastfeeding and in the last few days they haven't been engorged at all, just spongey like normal. Is that normal? I just worry that my milk supply is low, but when I squeeze them it does squirt out, so I know it is there. Just wanted to check I was right.....

    Hope you are all well.

shell sounds like your milk supply is settling down. Mine are like that through the day (they get engorged when he goes for longer than 3 hours between feeds). It's so much easier to feed when they're not engorged... means much less mess (and no hosepipe nipples). I think Will is a grumpy bum - I get the odd smile here and there but not lots like you are.

prama it's so hard to get motivated to go out when you know how much effort goes into just getting ready! Don't forget to rest when poopy rests. It's easy to just keep going (especially when there is cleanign to be done and not to mention the huge pile of laundry... or is that just me? ) but you need to make sure you look after yourself

Kitty Yes! so much washing. Always some kind of housework to do. It is making me feels bad cos I just can't get on top of it. I guess I'm just not a superwoman!
Shell My breast are hardly ever engorged, unless it is longer than 4hrs between feeds overnight. I'm sure that DJ would let you know if he was still hungry, but if you are really worried get him weighed to make sure he is still gaining and not losing weight. My mum inadvertently started starving me when I was about 3mths old. She had dried up and had no idea until the MCHN weighed me and said I'd lost weight! We are getting heaps of smiles from Flynn too! Had him round at my parents yesterday and he put on a great "I'm the cutest baby you've ever seen" show. was such a delight!
Teach Why don't you have to soak the nappies?
Prama I agree with Teach, maybe try a multivitamin. Know what you mean about all the packing and unpacking, I think I tend to overpack tho!!

A question for you guys Do your babies sleep in a cot bassinet or your bed? in their own room or yours? and if you moved them how old were they ebfore they slep in their oown rooms and you say just used a monitor or listened out for them
I dont knwo if its just becasue I am overtired atm but every little sounds that Will is making of a night is driving me mad and last night was the first time I have gotten really frustrated with him poor little buggar is actually asleep but truffles snuffles grunts and sighs while he is soort of dreaming. Between he and hubby snoring I am whacked. He does have periods of deep sleep of course and he is just doing baby stuiff but I am caught between wanting sleep and my need to have him close by and to be able to see that little light on the monitor flicker to tell me he is breathing ( stupid I know if I can hear him he is breathing ) Any suggestions ?

Aybody else still waiting for their birth certificates for bub?

Daniella thats great Jazz is laughing.do you find yoruself laughing like a loon back at her. I do.hubby askswhat I am laughng at and I say laughing at your son laughing at me he cracks me up and his feet lit up when he does it to. I spend so much time just talking and smiling at him is such a precious time I hope you are really enjoying it with jazz.

prama you are welcome hun and yeah I know about the whole comparison thing

IS getting really cold here now it takes a lot for me to wear anything on my feet around home and to put a fleece on and have done both this week I worry about Will being cold but also over heating him what do you guys dress bubs in during the day and for bed

OK enough questions for this morning I am just about brain dead need some brekki.

    Bron xx

    Morning girls,

A few unsettled times with DJ last night and this morning just couldn't get him to sleep arghhhh so a little tired today - will make sure I get some rest later

Bron - yeah I am excited about mothers day - keep trying to remind hubby that mothers day is coming up so hoping he will organise something for me. Maybe I should just remind him what I went through to get his little son born haha and DJ sleeps in his bassinette/pram in our bedroom now, but sometimes we have him in his room with the monitor on. Don't worry DJ grunts in his sleep as well so it wakes me up as well......

Prama- sounds like reflexology went well little fess nose drops are working well, it clears up his blocked nose. When we see the paed in a few weeks time I am going to ask him about his blocked nose, because I feel like it is blocked everyday. I thought it was just because it is getting cold and I always make sure he is really warm too so he doesn't even feel the cold. I am wondering if he has an allergy or sinus problems..... Hubby gets sinus problems and my nephew and niece had an operation on their nose because of sinus problems. Might call my sis-in-law to find out what it was.....

Danni - that is soooo cute, DJ is gurgling and I think it is giggling as well, but not sure. He smiles alot more now.

Thank god for Friday, it means hubby will be home for the weekend pheww. More time for me to relax and get some rest over the weekend. He is going to help me clean the house tomorrow for bbq on Sunday. He has invited friends over for bbq lunch for his birthday. So it will be nice, just make sure I have all plastic plates etc to save me any washing up kehehee

Looks like a nice day outside, think I will go for a walk with DJ today.

Bron, Summer is in a cot in our room she grew out of her basinette by week 4, she is the only bub i have ever had in our room for longer than 1 night as every sound would wake me up. Even though i have no choice as we don't have anywhere else for her to sleep i am loving every second, sometimes she grunts etc but it hasn't bothered me this time for some reason. I would put Will in his room as you need your sleep otherwise you will be grumpy (well i would be). Summer gets very warm even if it is pretty cool, she is wearing a footless jumpsuit with socks on and she is toasty warm if we go out i usually just have a warm blankie over her unless it is really cold out i will put a beanie and cardie, most babies prefer being cooler rather than too hot well my babies anyway... Its so confusing being a mummy sometimes, way too many things to think about hey?

Shell, i think because babies only breathe through their noses they seem like their nose is always blocked. Summer gets little boogers up there and that makes her snuffley but once i get it out she is usually better. If you look up their nose its a pretty small hole, no wonder it sounds hard to breathe sometimes. I would hate having to breathe through my nose only poor bubbas. Try the spray Prama uses might help.

I'm off to the gym, back later xoxox

Bron I agree with you I like babies to look like babies especially as Paddy will probably be my last. At night I dress him in AIO's long or short sleeves depending on the weather. I just put a light wrap over him in the hammock or if it's really cold in a sleeping bag. They're great if they get up a lot on cold nights. I'm using a night nappy most nights now so I don't have to worry about changing him or any leaks. He likes to wee!!! As for other clothes I like to layer because in WA it can be cold in the morning but by lunch time it's hot. Yesterday he was wearing a long sleeved AIO with no legs IYKWIM and some leggins over the top. I got some really cute ones from Big W. They sell Osh Kosh ones and they're so cute. The feet fold over to become bootees. Then when I had to take him out last night I just added a cardie and he was as warm as toast.

Can't remember who asked but the reason I don't soak nappies anymore is coz you don't have to. The recommendations with the MCN is to dry pail them, prerinse and then wash with half as much detergent as you would use. The prerinse get rid of the wee. Sometimes I add canesten rinse to keep them smelling fresh but the sun usually does that.

    Hi Girls

Im hoping someone may have some advice for me. At the moment my near 5 week old son is not sleeping as much any more. For the past few days he has been awake most of the day with few sleeps. Two days ago he only had three 20 min sleeps during the day. In the last 24 hours i have worked out that he could not have had more then 8 - 9 hours of sleep. He is generally contented when his needs have been met ie clean bottom, feed etc. He sometimes is unsettled in the evening but not a great deal. Normally he will feed during the night and fall asleep on the breast. Last night I could see he was fighting sleep but would wake as soon as I picked him up to place back in the cot. He can settle on his own ok.

I figure he will sleep when his tired, eat when his hungry etc but part of me feels he should be sleeping more. Maybe its because I feel Im not getting enough sleep. It's hard to sleep when your baby sleeps if he doesn't sleep that much.

Kitty - hope you had a better night last night dont worry that your bubs is not doing the same thing, they all develop differently, while some are smiling more, others are doing better at tummy time or sleeping... all are so different - also the age difference is also another factor to bare in mind, even a day apart cn make a diference, two weeks ago Molly Jane was completely different and it is amazing what they learn and do eery day - dont worry, even thou you cant always see the changes, they are happening

Macca79 - Molly Jane went through a little stage of that (lasted about a week) and it felt like she was wake all the time, a couple of cat naps during the day, but that was all... she did change again.
Molly didn like going down in her cot if she was asleep, figured out that it was the change in temperature - missing our body heat, so now during her last feed we put a heat pack down so that the cot is warm ... just seen that you are in Darwin- so this probably isn't an issue for you lol!!
I reckon thou if he is content, he doesn't need the sleep at the mo (hard for you thou). Try and watch for tired signs thou and get him to sleep before he is fighting it - rubbing face, jerky movements, starring into space and the one that i have really noticed is red eyebrows (health nurse told me that one!)

Caught up with Jo (marknjo) yesterday, it was like we were old friends, i think that we spently 4 hors just chatting! It was great, its a pitty that we are all so spread out, it would be great to meet more of you... Catherine, you are not too far away though, im in Clayton

Molly just had her injections, she was very brave

    speak soon

I was told by my gp that jazz might be starting to teethe already. She's quite grissley and clinggy and sucks her fist and dribbles all the time.

I got some gripe water also coz i'm almost out of infants friend. I find gripe works really well and instantly for jazz. I now prefer it... and its cheaper as well

Danni I use gripe water too. I find it works very well. The first time I gave it to Flynn he had been really whingy for ages and I was like "I've got nothing left to do", then I remembered that I'd gotten some gripe water so I thought...can't hurt. About a minute after I gave it to him, he had these 2 huge farts and promptly fell asleep!! So I definitely recommend it!

Sammi I wondered if there were any more Meburnites! It is a shame that everyone is so far apart. It would be great to be able to meet in person and and show off our bubs and whinge about stuff and laugh about stuff!

For those of you who've had windy bubs: How do you know if they have wind? Flynn has been badly out of sorts this last 2-3 days. Very cranky, bouts of very distressed crying almost to the point of hysterical, fussy at the breast, not sleeping, crying when he is layed down. He has never really had a prob with wind. Always burps and farts well! Any ideas what might be 'wrong' with him?

    Better go...need food!!

catherine: Jazz does those things too. Is Flynn drooling heaps too? What you described is similar to what I told my GP when she suggested it could be teething
